Chapter Three

Sloane's Pov

I looked up from the hard chest I bumped into and I realised it was a man's.

I was also aware that people still took pictures of me.

At that moment, the only thing that was on my mind was the avoidance of any more nasty scandals, so I grabbed the man's hand without thinking and I quickly began to walk away from the people who still snapped us.

Surprisingly, the man followed me without hesitation and we continued to walk until we reached a lonely spot.

I thoroughly looked around before letting go of his hand.

"Sorry for taking you away like that. I-" I said, looking up at the man, but my sentence was cut off by a shocked gasp.

I stared at the man who stood in my front, the man whose hand I'd just held and I was utterly terrified.

His eyes shone a bright red, his veins were glaringly visible all over his neck, his jaw and a little on his cheek. He grabbed a fistful of his hair and tilted his head back as his long and sharp teeth were exposed from his mouth.

I stifled a loud scream with my hands on my mouth as I retreated back.

Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! Who the hell was he?

I watched as the man made low grunts as his knees bucked and he landed on the ground.

I let out a small yelp and moved farther away from him. With my hands still on my mouth, I stared at him in fear and awe.

He faced down as he held the top of his shirt and gasped for air.

Oh no! Was he suffocating? I began to panic as I contemplated calling an ambulance. I started to run towards him but his long sharp teeth made me stop in my tracks.

Fangs. That word reverberated in my head. He couldn't be human since he possessed fangs. What then was he?

As I tried to figure that out, I remembered where I'd seen a creature like him. It was in a movie....

I let out another gasp as the realisation of who I was with dawned on me.

He was a vampire!

Oh my goodness! Was this real? I pinched my cheeks hard so I could wake up from whatever dream I was in.

But I was awake. Right in front of a vampire who gasped for breath.

I stared at him as my bottom lip trembled. Watching him gasp for air like that perturbed me. Was he dying? According to the movies I'd watched, vampires were immortal beings who only got killed by the sun or some poisonous plant named vervain.

They possessed so many supernatural powers but got very slow and weak if they didn't consume human blood.

I stared at this man again and wondered what his problem was.

But suddenly, his gasps became louder and his legs became weaker. He slumped on the ground and stopped moving.

I felt a teardrop escape from my eye as I rushed to him and knelt down next to him, panicking heavily. I hesitantly shook him but he didn't move. My panic began to rise as I shook him harder but he still didn't move.

I considered calling for help and I looked around but there was no one present at the moment.

What could I do to save this man? I didn't care about his identity, all I wanted to do was save him.

I bit down hard on my bottom lip enough to draw blood...

Blood! The word struck me. What if that was his problem? As he gasped for air earlier, he looked very weak. What if the lack of blood in his system made him pass out like this.

Maybe I could give him my blood...

What if that didn't work?

I wouldn't know until I tried. Luckily for me, I had something sharp enough to draw blood. I quickly removed my earring and used it's sharp part to pierce the skin on my wrist. I bit back my pained scream as I pierced my skin again. My hand began to bleed and I raised the man up to sitting position and I opened his mouth and put my wrist there. I watched with my heart in my stomach as my blood slowly dropped into his mouth and I was thankful for the fact that no one was around here.

For I couldn't afford any scandals over this. It was too weird a situation.

"Please, please wake up" I whispered this like a mantra as I held the man and watched him intently.

His veins were still visible on his neck and jaw and his eyes were shut but I didn't give up. I held my wrist over his mouth and continued begging him to wake up.

After what felt like four minutes, the veins on his neck began to vanish and the man dragged in a ragged breath as he held my wrist firmly and buried his fangs into them.

I groaned in pain from the effect of his fangs in my flesh but I let him drink my blood.

He then stopped. Removed his fangs and finally looked up at me.

His eyes were widened in shock as he looked around his surroundings and then back at me.

He quickly let go of my hand like it stung. "What happened?" He asked in the most sonorous voice I had ever heard.

I didn't reply. I just stared at him as so many emotions hit me all at once.

"D-did I do that...?" He pointed to my wrist as if he needed a confirmation that he'd just drank my blood.

I nodded my reply, still too dumbstruck to speak.

I watched him reach for something in his back pocket, then he brought out a handkerchief.

"I'm so sorry..." He mumbled as he began to tie my wrist with the handkerchief.

As he did that, I felt more than aware of different emotions that surged through me. First was relief that he hadn't died under my watch, second was fear because I was alone with a vampire and the third emotion, which overshadowed the rest was adoration.

I knew I had a voracious appetite for men but in my eight years of dating different men, I hadn't seen any who was as gorgeous as this one.

Compared to how he looked when I first saw him, he looked rejuvenated and very healthy. The veins on his face were gone, leaving a smooth, pale skin. His fangs were replaced by perfect, white teeth and his eyes...

His shone a bright gold colour. They were so... cold, and so was his expression right now. It made me wonder how he would look if he smiled.

Asides from the coldness that emanated from his gaze, I felt something else too.

Danger.

I felt he was dangerous but that feeling was squashed by the noisy rhythm of my heartbeat and the churning sensation in my belly.

I noticed the blood smudge on the side of his lip and I took out my handkerchief and impulsively began to clean it.

"Thanks" he said and he tried to collect the handkerchief from me but his hand lingered on mine in the process.

I exhaled sharply from the pleasurable impact and we just stayed put, staring at eachother as if a connection passed between us.

Our brief but enchanted moment was interrupted by a shutter sound.

Then I turned to see that someone was taking pictures of me.

Darn it! Not again. I thought there was no one here.

"Hey!" I complained and I quickly stood up to go and confront the person but I was too late. The person had fled already.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, I returned back to where I was and couldn't find the man who I was with just now.

Where had he gone so soon?

"Hello..." I called as I searched for him around the gravesite but I couldn't find him.

As I was about to leave the gravesite, still in search of him, I ran into the bodyguards that were sent by my dad.

I made to run away from them again but I was unlucky this time.

As they took me with them, I figured I had no choice but to see my dad.
