Chapter Eighty-Two

Shannon’s POV

I dragged my feet up the staircase with tear-stained eyes, hoping that no one would see me in such a distraught state. I didn’t have much faith when I invited them down for dinner in the first place but I wasn’t expecting them to crush me completely.

It’s almost as if they did it intentionally to remind me of what they saw me for and what I would always be to them.

I’d never felt this hurt and broken in my entire life but there wasn’t anything I could do about it other than cry my eyes out.

I had promised myself that I wouldn’t let myself be meek but I didn’t know if I would be able to hold on any much longer.

I forced the door to my room open and slammed it shut behind me, crawling into bed and pulling the sheets over my head, hoping to sink into oblivion and stay there for all of eternity but it wasn’t to be as I heard a knock on the door.

I thought about answering but I figured whoever it was would leave if I remained silent. It was an old trick that always seeme
