Chapter 7 ~ Good News, Bad News

ALEXANDER'S POV.

I walk to and fro behind my office chair. My face, calm but my eyes were enough to shoot you dead. The continuous prick of the edges of the razor I've been fiddling with my finger, doesn't seem to affect me.

I swallow hardly. My evident adam apple moving up and down. It's the second time in two weeks, I'm realizing that I'm working with people who aren't as smart as I expected them to be. But their foolishness is their business. It shouldn't be rubbed off on my work or anything concerning me.

I'm not nice or kind enough to tolerate such. It has never been a trait of mine.

I look down at the Collins bastard who kneeled before me. The bastard I had thought wouldn't end up like that old man. The bastard I had thought is worth my time. The bastard that had risen my thought on getting something special.

The price. The worth. I wanted nothing but to make the mysterious lady my possession, after the day of my meeting with this bastard.

I was meant to have her since last week. By now she would have been on my bed, in my arms and I would have gotten to feel every inch of her.

But the case is different. Instead of having her, I'm having stories.

Stories I don't give a fuck about.

"I never meant to deceive you. I meant it when I said you'll have her." He says he fear.

"And now?"

"I didn't plan this, I swear." He cries.

I stare at him, not giving a damn about his emotions. I haven't even laid hands on him and he's crying already. I'd advice he saves his tears for later or he wouldn't have enough to shed when I deal with him in hell.

"It's really not easy to see a man cry." I walk to him and hold his chin, tight enough for him to feel pain. I raise his head with it, so he would look at me. "Infact, a man shouldn't be found crying. But for me?...When you think of me and what I can do to you and how I can ruin your entire existence and put an end to your family line, you should. You should cry and beg for mercy. My mercy over your paltry life." His ragged breathing makes me leave him and stand tall.

"I don't know what you're going to do but get her for me." I say without looking at him.

"I don't know where she is."

"That's your problem to deal with."

"I don't even know where to start from. How do I find her?"

I look down at him with raised brows.

"You're questioning me?"

"No. No, I'm sorry." He looks down. "I just don't know what to do."

"I don't care, Collins. That's on you."

"I meant the contract agreement but now things are out of control."

"I also meant the contract agreement." He looks back up at me. "Remember?" I push my hands into my pockets.

He widens his eyes, now realizing what I'm talking about. "No. No." He dresses back but one of my guards behind him push him back forward. He looks up at him, scared, then back at me.

"A life for a life." I smirk. Nothing satisfies me more than seeing people this way. Helpless. Knowing I'm the only one who can redeem or forfeit them of their happiness. "It's either today, tomorrow or never. I have no time further than that to spare." I pull my right hand out of my pocket to brush my hair with it, as I turn to look out of the city through the large window.

"I'm not su..."

"You shouldn't be unlucky to loose two things." I cut him off by saying. "The money you want so much and your life." I swallow. "You've got just one to live, remember. I'll get the girl at the end of it all. I have my ways." I take two step forward to further admire the city. "So think properly. Have your own ways and save those two precious things."

"I...I'll try my best."

"You'll try?" I turn and raise my brows again. "You'll try?" He raises his head to nod, but don't. He then moves his head to the side to shake it, but doesn't. Obviously not sure of the answer to give me. I smirk. "You seem to know little of what I can do."

"Pardon me. I'll do my best."

"Good. Much more preferable." I look up at the guards. "Accompany him and get me the lady. I must have her." I look at them and walk to my chair to sit as silence fills the room. I look up at Seth. "Get me her picture from him. I need evidence that's he's giving us the right girl."

"As you say, boss."

"It will be better if you begin your search." I say to my guards as a dismissal. They wait for Collins to stand before they walk out of my office behind him. Trust me, he took his time doing so.

The stress now made him look horrible, unlike the last time I saw him. I promise he'll look worse if he doesn't get me what I want.

I cross my leg and intertwine my fingers. "Remember Collins." I call and wait for him to turn to look at me. "I lack home training."

He stands still and stares at me, scared. I stare at him, unbothered. My face putting on a stern look as I wiggle my leg under my table.

My guards slightly push him out and shut the door.

The lady must be found.

"Now, Seth. Back to you."

"I figured who stole the ship and weapons."

"Beautiful. Tell me what you know."

"It was one of Carlo Gigante's men. The CCTV at our shipping port captured the face of the man before he disconnected the CCTV's."

"Who is in charge if the CCTV?" He hesitated and look away from me at the floor. "I'm waiting."

"Luke. Luke is."

I nod. "So how did Carlo's men get to the ship?"

"Unfortunately, our workers are of large quantity, so not all staffs can easily be identified. Especially from the new set we just employed. So that was his way of getting to the ship."

"Every staff working at the port has an ID."

"We found five staffs dead and hidden in one of the caravans." The news make my jaw tighten. "They had taken their ID's, I think, and forged it."

"So I presume they were five of Carlo's men then?"

He nods. "Yes, they were."

I stand from my sit. "I wouldn't let this slide." I pinch the bridge of my nose. "We'll get the weapons back, but now, I have to think. For sure I wouldn't spare them. They'll pay more than the price of those weapons. Either with money or with their lives."

"I heard news also. News concerning Carlo and the weapons."

I furrow my brows and walk to stand beside my desk. "What news."

"Carlo is hosting an auction in one of his halls in two days time. He wishes to auction that particular hall, due to rumors which spread about his Precious valuables which he stores in that hall." I stare at him, thinking with the help of this news. "Auctioning the hall means putting an end to those rumor which I'm certain to be true. It's just his way of changing the location of where his Precious valuables are stored."

"Of course a rumor spread. He has never been the sensical one among his brothers." I roll my eyes.

"He's been making a lot of losses lately. Probably would be poor soon."

"Probably. I doubt he would live to see himself in that state. I'll be glad to do him the honours."

"What's your plan? boss."

"We attend." I smirk. "I need the maximum of how much money I can risk at the auction. The guards should prepare. Weapons should be loaded before that day. Let them know I won't accept any mistake."

"I'll do that, boss."

"I'm not going with a backup plan. No back up plan. He has messed with my business, now I'll mess with his empire. The one plan I have is enough for a stand alone. Let the guards know. Their boss doesn't have a backup plan."

An auction in two days.

I can't wait.
