ALEXANDER'S POV.
I walk to and fro behind my office chair. My face, calm but my eyes were enough to shoot you dead. The continuous prick of the edges of the razor I've been fiddling with my finger, doesn't seem to affect me.I swallow hardly. My evident adam apple moving up and down. It's the second time in two weeks, I'm realizing that I'm working with people who aren't as smart as I expected them to be. But their foolishness is their business. It shouldn't be rubbed off on my work or anything concerning me.I'm not nice or kind enough to tolerate such. It has never been a trait of mine.I look down at the Collins bastard who kneeled before me. The bastard I had thought wouldn't end up like that old man. The bastard I had thought is worth my time. The bastard that had risen my thought on getting something special. The price. The worth. I wanted nothing but to make the mysterious lady my possession, after the day of my meeting with this bastard.I was meant to have her since last week. By now she would have been on my bed, in my arms and I would have gotten to feel every inch of her.But the case is different. Instead of having her, I'm having stories.Stories I don't give a fuck about."I never meant to deceive you. I meant it when I said you'll have her." He says he fear."And now?""I didn't plan this, I swear." He cries.I stare at him, not giving a damn about his emotions. I haven't even laid hands on him and he's crying already. I'd advice he saves his tears for later or he wouldn't have enough to shed when I deal with him in hell."It's really not easy to see a man cry." I walk to him and hold his chin, tight enough for him to feel pain. I raise his head with it, so he would look at me. "Infact, a man shouldn't be found crying. But for me?...When you think of me and what I can do to you and how I can ruin your entire existence and put an end to your family line, you should. You should cry and beg for mercy. My mercy over your paltry life." His ragged breathing makes me leave him and stand tall."I don't know what you're going to do but get her for me." I say without looking at him."I don't know where she is.""That's your problem to deal with.""I don't even know where to start from. How do I find her?"I look down at him with raised brows."You're questioning me?""No. No, I'm sorry." He looks down. "I just don't know what to do.""I don't care, Collins. That's on you.""I meant the contract agreement but now things are out of control.""I also meant the contract agreement." He looks back up at me. "Remember?" I push my hands into my pockets. He widens his eyes, now realizing what I'm talking about. "No. No." He dresses back but one of my guards behind him push him back forward. He looks up at him, scared, then back at me."A life for a life." I smirk. Nothing satisfies me more than seeing people this way. Helpless. Knowing I'm the only one who can redeem or forfeit them of their happiness. "It's either today, tomorrow or never. I have no time further than that to spare." I pull my right hand out of my pocket to brush my hair with it, as I turn to look out of the city through the large window."I'm not su...""You shouldn't be unlucky to loose two things." I cut him off by saying. "The money you want so much and your life." I swallow. "You've got just one to live, remember. I'll get the girl at the end of it all. I have my ways." I take two step forward to further admire the city. "So think properly. Have your own ways and save those two precious things.""I...I'll try my best.""You'll try?" I turn and raise my brows again. "You'll try?" He raises his head to nod, but don't. He then moves his head to the side to shake it, but doesn't. Obviously not sure of the answer to give me. I smirk. "You seem to know little of what I can do.""Pardon me. I'll do my best.""Good. Much more preferable." I look up at the guards. "Accompany him and get me the lady. I must have her." I look at them and walk to my chair to sit as silence fills the room. I look up at Seth. "Get me her picture from him. I need evidence that's he's giving us the right girl.""As you say, boss.""It will be better if you begin your search." I say to my guards as a dismissal. They wait for Collins to stand before they walk out of my office behind him. Trust me, he took his time doing so.The stress now made him look horrible, unlike the last time I saw him. I promise he'll look worse if he doesn't get me what I want.I cross my leg and intertwine my fingers. "Remember Collins." I call and wait for him to turn to look at me. "I lack home training."He stands still and stares at me, scared. I stare at him, unbothered. My face putting on a stern look as I wiggle my leg under my table. My guards slightly push him out and shut the door. The lady must be found."Now, Seth. Back to you.""I figured who stole the ship and weapons.""Beautiful. Tell me what you know.""It was one of Carlo Gigante's men. The CCTV at our shipping port captured the face of the man before he disconnected the CCTV's.""Who is in charge if the CCTV?" He hesitated and look away from me at the floor. "I'm waiting.""Luke. Luke is."I nod. "So how did Carlo's men get to the ship?""Unfortunately, our workers are of large quantity, so not all staffs can easily be identified. Especially from the new set we just employed. So that was his way of getting to the ship.""Every staff working at the port has an ID.""We found five staffs dead and hidden in one of the caravans." The news make my jaw tighten. "They had taken their ID's, I think, and forged it.""So I presume they were five of Carlo's men then?"He nods. "Yes, they were."I stand from my sit. "I wouldn't let this slide." I pinch the bridge of my nose. "We'll get the weapons back, but now, I have to think. For sure I wouldn't spare them. They'll pay more than the price of those weapons. Either with money or with their lives.""I heard news also. News concerning Carlo and the weapons."I furrow my brows and walk to stand beside my desk. "What news.""Carlo is hosting an auction in one of his halls in two days time. He wishes to auction that particular hall, due to rumors which spread about his Precious valuables which he stores in that hall." I stare at him, thinking with the help of this news. "Auctioning the hall means putting an end to those rumor which I'm certain to be true. It's just his way of changing the location of where his Precious valuables are stored.""Of course a rumor spread. He has never been the sensical one among his brothers." I roll my eyes."He's been making a lot of losses lately. Probably would be poor soon.""Probably. I doubt he would live to see himself in that state. I'll be glad to do him the honours.""What's your plan? boss.""We attend." I smirk. "I need the maximum of how much money I can risk at the auction. The guards should prepare. Weapons should be loaded before that day. Let them know I won't accept any mistake.""I'll do that, boss.""I'm not going with a backup plan. No back up plan. He has messed with my business, now I'll mess with his empire. The one plan I have is enough for a stand alone. Let the guards know. Their boss doesn't have a backup plan."An auction in two days.I can't wait.JANE'S POVI walk out of the bathroom to see Clara on the bed, operating her phone while she waits for me to finish up so we can eat. It's been a week now, if not over a week since the horrible event with Collins happened. Staying in the hotel has been quite comfortable, well, to me but not for Clara. She barely leaves the hotel because she understands I need someone to be with. She even took a leave from work and I really hope she doesn't face problems with her work because of me. My work on the other hand, I don't know.I quickly get dressed and grab the food tray from the trolley. I walk to sit opposite Clara on the bed and place the tray between us."What are you doing?" I ask, seeing that she's still very much engrossed in whatever she's doing with her phone."Oh, I'm searching for a good movie to download. Unfortunately staying here, doing nothing but occupying myself with movies, I feel I've watched all the good thriller movies and series Netflix has to offer." "Well I could h
I sit at the bar, not ready to mingle with the crowd, yet. The music is so loud and doesn't give room for me to think of my sad life. Maybe the club is actually a good start, after all. Clara on the other hand, left me few minutes ago to meet a friend she recognized and hasn't been back to her loner friend since them. So, yeah I'm sitting alone. Currently finishing my third shot of liquor, I turn to the bartender. "Another please." I point into the cup. He gives me a weird look before turning me around round of the liquor. I look away from him only for my eyes to come in contact with a strange guy sitting at the other side of the bar. I furrow my brows and look away as a guy and his drunk girl walk to stand before him to get a drink. I could no longer see him. I stare at the funny dance steps of drunkards and sober people in the dance floor as I take from my liquor.Unconsciously, my eyes move to the strange man again. The guy and girl were no longer there, so I could see him now.
The dj keeps the vibe on in the room with his beats and good music pulsating through the speakers. I keep dancing with Clara, throwing one or two jokes her way due to my already drunken state. Sophie had came to dance with us then left and now she's back again. She briefly complains about George's annoying friends making Clara secretly blush and I can't help but wonder if Sophie also knows about Clara's feelings for George. She has to know, right?Girls notice the little things and like pairing their brothers with their friends atimes. Just like Clara can do the same for her little brother.I, on the other hand, can't relate. I do have a brother, but a step brother and I've never been that close to him because he attended a boarden school. And now, I still can't be close to him cause I'm far away from my family with an identity of my own, due to certain reasons. The thought of my family after a long time, suddenly make my heart ache. I don't like thinking of it. I don't like thinki
ALEXANDER'S POVI put on a stern look as I walk into 'Hell'. My favourite room in my mansion. It's a place where I make people regret their actions and give them enough pain that they wish to be dead. It's my favourite place because here, people who mess with me realize what it actually is to be helpless. They realize what it means to be at my mercy. They realize the importance of so much power. It smells of dried blood from the injuries and killings of different people who decided to test what it's actually like to mess with me. Atimes it smells of sweat and now it smells of an unclean old man. He's my current prey and I have this cute feeling that Collins Fisher will be next. "I would be sad to know you didn't miss me." I tell the old man and nod at Simon to untie the cloth from his mouth. He bends his head and breath through his mouth in relief. He snaps his head up to me with wide eyes. "My son. You killed my son." "I did and you are going to do nothing about it." "What do y
JANE'S POV I suddenly feel like I have a hangover in my stomach and feel the need to throw up. I struggle to raise my hands to cover my mouth, but I can't so I just move my head to the side and let it all out. I scrunch my nose at the awful smell and throw my head backwards to catch my breath. "You're finally awake."I bring my head forward to look at the man standing before me, with weak eyes. I struggle to stable my eyes so I can see him properly. When I do, my eyes widen at who I see standing before me. "You!""Yes, me.""What's that your name again...aah, aah, James." At least he told me his name before the liquor completely took over my senses. I look down at my stiff hands to see they are tied to the arm rest of the chair I'm sitting on. "Why am I tied up?""Because you are Janet Stewart.""Janet Johnson." I correct him."Why Johnson?" He raises his brows."Because that's my surname. Any problem?""Yes.""Well, not my concern. Untie me and let me out of here.""No." I bend m
ALEXANDER'S POV I scroll through social media as everyone take their respective seats. Right now, I seem to be the only one less bothered about interacting or making all possible means to win.I know I will. There are no two ways about it. I always get what I put my mind into. I planned while they slept, now I'm going to win while they plan. The auctioneer says one or two things before going straight to the business of the day. "We'll start at 10 million." He announced."16 million." A man far from me is the first to bid."18 million." A lady behind me says.I don't raise my head to see the biders. I keep going through my phone, yet paying close attention to how the auction is going."Come on. Don't hesitate. It's worth bu...""21 million." Another lady interrupts him by saying."Sir, aren't you going to bid?" Seth asks, curious at my silence."I believe you trust me better than to be questioning me.""But boss..." I raise my index finger to shut him up."Collins." I look up at him.
JANE'S POV I cry profusely next to the strange man who bought me at the auction. I meant to run away. I meant to run to Clara. I meant to start afresh after Collins but it was always one problem to the other. First my father, then Collins then to James and Carlo Gigante. Now, I'm in the hands of a strange man. It's like I'm destined to be kidnapped. Destined to never have my freedom.I've always tried to have a good life after the death of my mother but I've never been lucky from the start. Life keeps throwing challenges my way and I don't even know if I should give up or go with the flow of things. For sure, I can't just stop here. At least I have to give up in a better situation than this. How can I give up in the hands of a stranger. In the hands of a man I've never met in my life. In the hands of a man who is ill mannered enough to bid for a lady. To make her his property. A lady who has her own dreams and wants nothing but to be free, happy and be proud.Unfortunately I'm that
ALEXANDER'S POV I walk out of Jane's room with my hands in my pockets as I make my way to my office. I sit behind my desk before making a call to Seth.I stare at my desk thinking of the successful auction and Janet. I'm glad I have her. I acquired her by my own means, not because of Collins. So yes, I'm glad I'll have another coward to torture. Torturing that old man only, is turning into a boring activity. I need someone new like Collins, to add.Janet on the other hand...now, that I think of it, I don't know what to do with her. I have her at my possession but have no use for her...yet.She seems soft and gullible. She'll be an easy one to control of course, except she decides otherwise, but that's no worry, cause I got her covered. My office door opens and Seth walks in. "Boss.""How did it go?""We finished the job. No soul working for Carlo nor Carlo Gigante himself, was spared." I nod for him to go on. "The other guards collected our stolen weapons while we finished them off
