Amanda’s POVI yawned, opening my eyesand stretching on the bed. I looked beside me and saw Zeehan sleepingbeautifully. Nadia gave birth to an angel. How I wish I had a child like this.I smiled and stepped down from the bed. But where is Nadia? I entered thebathroom, but she wasn’t there. I did a personal job there and returned to thebedroom. I entered the living room, but she wasn’t there. I walked into thekitchen. “Nadia?” I called out. No response. Where could she have gone thisearly? I headed outside. Opening the door, I saw Nadia in the compound. Whatthe hell is she doing? I moved closer. Ballet dancing? When did Nadia become aballet dancer? She stood on her toes, spread out her arms, and spun around. Herhand movements, her steps, and the passion behind this early morning practiceshown through her dancing. I was amused by how flexible she was. But she wasn’thappy. I made her remember her past last night and I know she must haveremembered how her mother died. Poor gir

Chapter 12: Where Is My Daddy?
I took Zeehan to school the following morning. We left as early as possible. I desperately wish to see the boy who dares to touch my baby. Sleep couldn’t wash away the anger from my heart. I crouched in front of Zeehan, adjusting his collar.“Baby?” I called. “Can you recognize the boy that slapped you?” I asked.“Yes, Mummy. He is Edward,” he responded. I nodded and stood up, holding him to his class. “He is coming!” Zeehan announced, pointing at a boy of about 10 years old, coming along beside his mother. A sly smile crept to my face. We waited for them. The moment they neared us, I left my five fingers on the boy’s face. He staggered back, almost falling before his mother held him.“Hey, are you mad?” the mother yelled, checking Edward’s cheek as he teared up. “What is wrong with you, woman? How dare you hit my child?” she tried picking up a fight before the teachers and security interfered.“Warn your stupid boy deeply,” I pointed an angry finger at her. “The next time he dares to

Chapter 13: Arrived
Embracing the warmth thatwelcomed me into the heart of India, I stood suspended for a moment, holdingZeehan’s hand. Our flight arrived in the morning since we took off in theafternoon from Nigeria, and considering the different time zones. Everywhere wasbright and beautiful. I looked at Zeehan and the many other people walking backand forth from Mumbai airport. My child is home now. No one will dare call himalbino anymore.“I am here for you,Sidd,” I mumbled and smiled. Walking a few steps forward, a man showed up in frontof us, smiling warmly.“Where are you headed,ma’am?” he asked.“Good day, sir,” Ireturned his warm smile. “I’m a foreigner, I need to lodge in a hotel close, particularly one near the Bollywood industry,” I stated. The man suddenly wore aconfused look. “What’s wrong?” I asked sharply.“Nothing. You mean Film City. I will take you there and help you lodge in a hotel,” he stated.“Thank you so much. Chapter 14: Recognized
Returning to the hotel, Iheard people murmuring, swiveling their faces away from mine when I glanced atthem. Fear gripped my heart. Were they suspecting me already? And why are theystaring at Zeehan like that? Is it that obvious that Zeehan resembles Siddharth?I collected my room key from the receptionist and hurried to my room, carryingZeehan in my arms. And the weirdo lady earlier. Why was she talking like apriestess? Her tone almost made me quiver. It seemed she was seeing what wasgoing to happen in the next few days.“Mummy?” Zeehan called aswe reached the room.“Yes, baby,” I smiled.“Are we still going tosee Aunt Hema?” he queried, sitting on the bed. Huh? Aunt Hema? What has shedone to my baby? Is she truly a witch? I have heard scary stories about Indianwitches or black magicians before. I just hope she isn’t manipulating my baby.I sat with him, pulling him closer to me.“Why do you ask, baby?” Iqueried, trying to hide my surface-threatening fear.“I want to see h

Chapter 15: Jailed
As early as possible the next day, I called Hema and she gave me her address. I went to her place with Zeehan. Wow! Her home is so amazing. A beautiful bungalow with a yard and pool. How did she manage to build or buy such a luxurious house? Is she rich? I stood at the door after ringing the doorbell, waiting for her response. She opened the door, beaming warmly. I wasn’t expecting her to hug me but she did.“Welcome to my humble abode, Nadia,” she said, walking us back into the living room. “And Zeehan, how are you?” she asked.“I’m fine, Aunt Hema,” Zeehan replied.“I need your help, Hema,” I said as we reached the living room. She turned to me.“Anything, Nadia,” she accepted.“I want to go out, can you look after Zeehan for me, please?” I requested. She narrowed her eyes in suspicion.“Where are you going?” she asked.“It’s personal. Will you look after him for me, please?” I repeated earnestly.“Of course. Anything for my cutie,” she agreed.“No matter what happens, don’t come lo

Chapter 16: The Torturous Villainess
I spent the night inprison, with no food, and no water. I wonder how my baby is doing. Is Hema taking careof him? Will Sidd come to my rescue? What if he doesn’t show up? Who would bailme out when I told Hema not to come look for me? Dear God, please save me fromthis. Nadia’s POVWhere the heck is Sidd? Whyhasn’t he come for me yet? I have been hoping he will come for me since I wasdetained. I’m beginning to lose hope that he won’t show up. What do I do now?Who is going to bail me out of here? And that mad cop is tormenting my life inhere. She has bruised my face with her unending uncalled-for slaps. What did Iever do to her? What kind of a fan tries to kill another who once attackedtheir hero through social media? I was drained of energy already. I can’t evenstand properly anymore. The most regrettable part is that I told Hema not tocome look for me.Suddenly, noises fromoutside attracted me, jolting me out of my thoughts. Who was coming? Is itSidd? Chapter 18: Bailed Out.
Nadia’s POVIt dawned on another hellish day. As usual, I was woken up with water splashing to my face. Wiping the water off my face, I beheld the face of my tormentor. How on Earth did I meet this woman? How much did she collect to snatch life out of me? I looked at her. I don’t have a single strength to deal with her torture today.“Time to scrub the floor,” she dished out. I didn’t commit murder. I was just detained but she’s making it look like I was sentenced to life imprisonment. The only thing that will make me stand up from this floor today will be me going home. I won’t serve the punishment of a murderer under detainment. I ignored her. “Are you deaf?” she snapped, grabbing my forearm roughly.“Ouch!” I winced at the pain her clutch was causing to my soft skin.“Is the torture not enough for today, Yoshita?” one of the officers who was passing by said.“Maybe I should tell Ria you said that,” Yoshita retorted.“You are such a hothead,” the officer scorned and walked away, lea

Chapter 19: I Need An Explanation
Nadia’s POVI rode with Sidd. He was just driving to God knows where. I was looking out of the window. The few times I glanced at him, our eyes met and I would quickly look away. The silence in the car is overwhelming with my heart banging my ribcage for no cause. Suddenly, I lunged forward as the car came to an abrupt halt. I looked at Sidd.“What was that for? Are you planning to kill us?” I snapped. “Enough of the silence. You said you wanted to tell me something. What is it?” he asked. I ignored him. He isn’t even planning to explain why he never showed up as he promised a few years ago. “Aren’t you going to speak anymore?”“What? What do you want me to say to you?” I snapped. “You are so heartless. A bitter promise-breaker, that’s what you are. How could you? You promised me. I believed you. I waited for you. You abandoned me. Do you know what I went through because of that? Do you know the pain your abandonment caused me? You wouldn’t know, Sidd. And it’s fine. I regret loving
