Chapter 7

Warm light shone on them, and the faint aroma of essential oils filled the dining hall.

Ruth picked up her wine glass as well. Her cat-like eyes were charming and beautiful. “To a happy married life, Mr. Blakewell.”

Since Ruth was not in a good mood, she drank her wine like it was water.

During dinner, Abel went to the balcony to pick up a call, only to find out that Ruth had finished an entire bottle of red wine in the meantime.

She was slouching in her chair, and the hem of her dress spilled over the chair like petals. Her long, brown locks curled up at her waist and framed her exquisite and charming face in such a manner that she looked lackadaisical and seductive. She was absolutely breathtaking.

When Ruth saw him come back, she beckoned him over. “Come here.”

Abel went over to her and stared at the empty bottle on the table. He frowned. “You’re drunk.”

“I’m the queen of nightclubs. There’s no way I’d get drunk that easily.”

She tilted her head to the side and slouched further in her chair. When she spoke next, her voice was a bare whisper. Abel could not hear her clearly, so he leaned over and placed his ear beside her mouth. “What did you say?”

Ruth looked away, and her gaze landed on his abs, which showed up occasionally from under his shirt like shy butterflies. She pushed her limp hand under his shirt.

Abel immediately grabbed her hand and stood up. “Ruth!”

“Aren’t you my husband? There’s nothing wrong with me touching you.”

She grumbled and continued struggling to touch him again.

The strap of her dress slid down her shoulder because of her struggles, and her hair became a little messy. It framed her delicate collarbones just so that they kept flickering into view like a tease. When the warm light shone on her, she looked like a seductress.

Abel’s eyes turned a little darker, and his voice was deep, as if he was holding something back. “We’ve only just gotten to know each other. I won’t force you into anything you don’t want on our wedding night.”

Ruth pushed him on the chair and said in a flighty tone, “But I want to force you to do stuff! Look at your body. I can tell you’re built just by touching you. Hehehehe…”

Ruth unbuttoned most of Abel’s shirt to reveal his chest. He looked at her creating all sorts of mischief. “You won’t regret it?”

“I’ll regret it if I don’t sleep with you! If nothing happened during our wedding night, they’d laugh at me and say that I’m no good!”

Abel found himself speechless.

From the moment they met, Ruth had been incredibly forceful.

She even said something like this. Did she even realize that she was a woman?

While leaning over her, Abel picked her up and carried her to the bedroom. Once he placed her on the bed, he knelt down on one knee beside her while he unbuttoned the rest of his shirt and stared down at her with lust burning in his eyes.

“They won’t say that you’re no good. They’ll only say that I’m no good.”

Ruth lay in bed with her silk-like hair spread around her and stared unblinkingly at him. He wondered whether she heard him, but all she did was sigh like a besotted idiot. “Your face is much better than Caelus’s…”

He stopped removing his shirt and narrowed his eyes dangerously before he leaned down to grab her chin. “Who’s Caelus?”

“A sc*mbag.” Ruth looked at him. Then, suddenly, she started speaking dejectedly. “He slept with another woman and talked badly about me. Sob… I was so nice to him… I helped him start up his company and got him resources. I even earned money for him.”

Her soft voice was filled with sadness. “But he doesn’t love me at all. He only loves my money.” As she spoke, she started crying.

Abel did not know what to say to that. When her tears fell on the back of his hand, they burned him, and he instinctively let go of her.

Ruth cried so hard that she started gasping for breath and did not notice that Abel’s mood was getting worse.

After crying and complaining for a while, she sniffed. “Why is it so cold?”

They were really close to each other. In fact, there was only the distance of a finger between their faces.

Heavy breaths landed on her face, and they were filled with a man’s unique scent. It finally made Ruth feel a little awkward, and she pushed Abel away.

“You’re… heavy…”

“Ruth, I don’t care whether you’re really drunk or just pretending to be, but you will listen well. You’re my wife now, so deal with all of your previous relationships. Don’t let me see you getting involved in some complicated relationships with other men in the future.”

His refreshing scent surrounded Ruth. It was all she could breathe in.

Ruth stared at Abel’s ridiculously handsome face. His aura was so intimidating that she could not come back to her senses for a long time.

Her mind went completely blank, and all she could think about was his words “getting involved in some complicated relationships with other men”.

She blinked and blurted out, “I never slept with him.”

Abel was rendered speechless.

Ruth stared at him with the look that said she knew he would not believe her and wrapped her arms around his neck. She also brought her head up to bite down on his Adam’s apple. “We can sleep together if you don’t believe me.”

Abel sucked in a sharp breath, and all his blood rushed downward. The lust he had just managed to suppress surged up once more.

He grabbed her chin and claimed her lips.

Then, an incredibly hoarse voice spilled out from his mouth. “Let’s do it, then.”

......

The next morning, Ruth woke up because of her phone ringing.

She rejected the call repeatedly, but the person seemed determined to keep calling until she picked up. In the end, Ruth’s patience ran out, and she answered the phone. “What?!”

“Ruth, everyone in the circle is saying that someone took over Lockton Entertainment. How did you make your father give it to you? Noel came back yesterday and told me that he can’t deal with your temper! He said that he doesn’t want to get into a fake marriage with you.”

“What do you mean, can’t deal with my temper? He’s dealing with it just fine!”

Serenity was silent for a while.

The fog in Ruth’s brain slowly cleared up due to her silence. “What’s the meaning of this? Are you telling me that your gigolo is looking down on me and wants to get a divorce?”

“No. He never thought about getting married to you in the first place,” Serenity corrected her in a deadpan voice.

It was such shocking information that Ruth could not wrap her head around it for a long time.

The gigolo did not want to get married to her?

But she was married!

When her mind went blank from all the thinking, someone put a hand around her waist, and a warm chest pressed against her back. Ruth felt all of her thoughts scrambling together into one huge mess.
