Chapter 12

From the moment Apollo walked into the company, his face was full of disdain.

This company was so small!

The office was so low class!

Also, the people were so ignorant. When they looked at him, their eyes shone. They were so uncultured!

“Mr. Blakewell.”

The indifferent voice from behind made him snap out of his daze.

When he turned around, his eyes instantly brightened.

The woman was dressed in a professional work dress. Her belt cinched her slim waist, and her long legs were straight and fair. She wore a pair of high heels, and she looked capable and not at all inflexible.

It was rare to find people who had such a unique demeanor while wearing professional clothes. She was indeed his sister-in-law.

Most importantly, she looked like she had worldly experience. When she looked at him, her gaze was very calm. There were no exaggerated emotions nor surprise. The small and lousy company suddenly became decent to him because of her appearance.

“Ru… Ruth, hi, I’m Apollo Blakewell. I’ve heard about you, so I came to visit you. It’s great to meet you.”

He took off his sunglasses, and he smiled genuinely as he stretched out his right hand like a gentleman.

Ruth crossed her arms and sized him up. When Apollo felt slightly flustered, she said, “Come to my office.”

Apollo happily answered, “Sure.” Then, he smiled and followed her.

When the two of them left, some girls screamed in muffled voices.

“Ah! It’s really Apollo Blakewell! He said he came to register for work, so we’ll be colleagues!”

“Ruth is awesome! She was able to recruit such a famous celebrity!”

“Apollo is so handsome! How great it’d be if I could be his assistant!”

“...”

The sound insulation in the office was not good.

Besides, the two of them had just gone upstairs, so they could clearly hear the conversation downstairs.

Apollo thought. “As the boss of the company, she must feel very awkward when her staff members act like such country bumpkins, right?”

Ruth acted as she usually did. She walked into the office before making a gesture at the couch to invite him to sit. “Mr. Blakewell, it’s my honor to have you in my company.”

Her words were meant to butter him up, but her expression was calm and aloof.

When she sized Apollo up as if she understood everything, he felt a little guilty.

“Not at all. I came to seek your help because I’ve admired you for a long time!” Apollo took the glass from the assistant and took a sip of water.

“Does my reputation precede me so much that people come flocking to meet me?” Ruth quirked her eyebrow slightly in amusement as she answered.

“Cough!” Apollo spurted out some water.

If he had not turned his head quickly, the water would have ended up on the table.

It was only after he coughed for a while that he turned around and looked at the woman who sat calmly across from him. “Well, not too bad. I just did not expect you to be so honest!”

Ruth leaned back on the couch and stared straight at his face. “I’m always honest when it comes to business. Mr. Blakewell, if you’re interested in cooperating, Lockton Corporation will naturally welcome you. I’ll also prioritize you with all my resources in the future. But before that, I have to know your purpose.”

Ruth did not believe in a free lunch for many years now.

Apollo was a popular actor, and he was very famous internationally. He was the top celebrity supported by Grand Empire Entertainment, and it was impossible for his brain to malfunction to such an extent that he would suddenly leave his top company and join her small company that was about to go bankrupt.

When Apollo saw her attitude, his eyes brightened. “Ruth, since you’re straightforward, I’ll also not hide it from you.”

Ruth raised her chin slightly to motion for him to continue.

“My contract with Grand Empire Entertainment has ended. I initially wanted to establish my own agency, but something suddenly happened…”

Apollo made up a story of being betrayed by his buddy on the spot.

His story was so vivid and tragic that it made Ruth yawn. “Poor you, so? What does it have to do with our collaboration?”

“Since there’s no one that I can trust, why shouldn’t I bet on a newcomer? Of course, I want 50% of the shares and the right to make decisions.” Apollo was not shy. He immediately made his requests.

Ruth did not have an excuse to turn him down.

After all, Lockton Entertainment was falling apart. It could only come back to life with Apollo’s help.

It was reasonable for him to ask for 50% shares as well. It was not too much.

Unexpectedly, after Ruth thought for a while, she spoke up in a troubled manner. “30%. If you perform well in the future, we can talk about it again.”

Apollo’s aim was not the shares, so he was very straightforward. “No problem! All the best to our collaboration!”

Because of Apollo’s participation, there was a grand welcoming party in the company.

It was held in Kinsale Clubhouse.

Ruth did not want to go, but because of Apollo the VIP, the executives of the company insisted on her attendance no matter what, and she could not help but compromise.

Before she got into the car, she sent a message. [You don’t have to come.]

The other side replied with a row of question marks. [Did you find another man in the half an hour my flight was delayed? Babe, you really make me feel insecure! Tell me honestly, who replaced me?]

Ruth replied. [Apollo.]

The other side was silent for a while. [Fine, he’s not too bad. But how do you two know each other?]

Ruth put away her phone without replying.

After she thought for a while, she could not find any connection with Apollo.

The only thing that connected them was her newlywed husband. His family name was also Blakewell.

Nathan, who sat at the passenger seat, turned around, and asked Ruth in puzzlement, “Miss, do you believe what Mr. Blakewell said? Did he come for the shares of Lockton Entertainment?”

Ruth shook her head. “I don’t believe him. If he wanted a new team, he could easily recruit a lot of people. There’s no need for him to join the messy Lockton.”

Nathan frowned. “So, you…”
