The cool breeze blowing around the beach soothed my skin from the rays of the sun outside of the umbrella I was laying under. I kept my eyes on the people moving back and forth in the water upfront.
I smiled when I felt Lucas wrap his arm around my bare waist. He placed his hand on my bump and leaned down to kiss it before sitting up. He kissed my shoulder and I smiled wider."Your skin is hot. Do you want something cold to drink or eat?" He asked against my shoulder and I turned my head to stare at him.
"Yes, please. Maybe ice cream," I replied and he pecked my lips before standing on his feet. He tugged his shorts down a little and walked away.As soon as he left my vicinity, his phone rang behind me. I turned around and grabbed it then turned it over. I furrowed my eyebrows at the caller— Cindy. It was confusing why she kept calling this way.
"Why does she keep calling constantly? Does this have anything to do with his work?" I asked and dropped the phone. I didn't want to answer it since I didn't know her and he had not said anything about the person to me.I stared back at the waves crashing against each other and leaned back on my hands. I crossed my ankles and tilted my head back, enjoying the cool breeze blowing and the flapping of my hair. Two minutes later, the phone rang again and I looked at the device beside me. Cindy was calling again and I rolled my eyes and took the phone. I saw Lucas coming back with two cones of ice cream and I sat straight. When he came closer and sat under the umbrella, I grabbed one of the ice creams from him and handed him his ringing phone.
"It's been ringing," I said and I licked my ice cream, looking ahead of me. "Why the fuck does she keep calling," Lucas muttered but I heard every word he said."About that. She called two days ago when we went touring. Is everything okay?" I asked and he didn't meet my eyes, instead, he switched off his phone."It's not important. Let's enjoy the beach," he said dismissively and laid down with his head resting on his bent arm.
I blinked and shrugged then continued licking my ice cream, loving the softness and coldness of the treat.
"I can't believe our two weeks vacation will be over today," I said and pouted.
"We can always go for vacations anywhere you want," he said behind me."I know but it's expensive and—"
"Don't finish that sentence, babe. I've told you one too many times that money isn't a problem for me. I will spoil you however I want and remember you agreed that I buy you whatever, take you wherever and make you comfortable? We aren't about to argue with the one with the car I bought for you."
I pursed my lips as I remembered a month ago how we had one argument where he complained about how he wanted to spend on me after he bought me a car. An expensive Audi A6. I had a problem with it because he had gotten it without me knowing and said it was a surprise.
I could barely know how to drive but be paid to go to a driving school and still, I was still scared of driving. The only time I can use the car was when I wanted to go to the supermarket close by. Not that I wasn't good, I was just scared of crashing or bumping into someone's car."Okay," I said and he chuckled behind me."Good," he said.|||
We had gotten back from Spain yesterday and as soon as it was dawn, I was awake, ready for my class. It was weird waking up outside of the school dorms. I was used to waking up and using the public washrooms and then taking my dear time to walk through the campus to my department building.
I walked out of the walk-in closet in our bedroom, dressed in a thigh-length summer dress. It was going to be hot today according to the weather and I wasn't about to dress up too much. It was California after all.
After brushing my hair and picking up my book bag and my homework secured in a cylindrical case, I walked out of the room and through the wide hallway of the house. I was already getting calls from my classmates and I had to hurry to school.
As I descended the wooden steps, I saw Lucas was in the kitchen, eating his breakfast with bed hair and a sleepy face. I giggled and made my way into the huge kitchen on the other side of the living room.
"Good morning," I said and kissed his cheek. "Good morning, baby," he said and took a sip out of his mug."Don't you have classes today?" I asked, wondering if he remembered he was a student.
"I do. At twelve. It's just one class," he replied and looked at me with his hooded eyes. "What time does your class end today?""At three," I replied as I took out a bottle of water from the large fridge.
"Are you driving to school or should I take you there?" He asked and bit into his toast.
I paused at the question and spoke to myself in my head that I can drive myself without crashing. I closed the fridge and turned around. I smiled at him."I will drive," I said through gritted teeth.
Lucas stared at me for some seconds, almost as if he was trying to read my mind. He sighed and picked up his phone. I watched him open the Uber app and after some seconds, he faced me."I just ordered a ride for you. He'll be here soon. I would have driven you to school but I have to head to the other school campus to get something for a professor," he said and I smiled in relief."Thank you," I said and rushed over to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.
"No, kiss me here," he said and puckered his lips. I giggled and kissed his lips. "I love you."
"I love you too," I said and moved away from him.
"I'll pick you up after your class, okay?"
I beamed. "Okay."I rushed out of the house and saw my ride waiting on the side of the road. I eyed my car parked by the house and sighed before making my way to the Uber waiting.|||
I paid the driver and left the car. I stared at my department building across the campus street. I waited for a car to drive by before I rushed across the street. Before I got close, I heard the engine of a car coming from my left.
I turned my head and screamed at the car coming toward me.|||I quickly moved forward and almost fell to the concrete ground but I steadied myself and spun around with a glare shot at the car that stopped. I raised my hand above my head in a questioning manner and raised an eyebrow when the car reversed and stopped in front of me. "What the fuck?" I whispered and stared at the tinted window of the car. The door of the driver's side opened and the first thing I saw was a foot wearing a brown brogue shoe. I took a step back when a man came out of the car. He was tall, muscular, and had brown hair that was swept back in a neat style. Around his jawline was a perfectly shaped beard. The man was good-looking, I would admit it. He stood tall in a tight dress shirt and dress pants. He raised his eyes to meet mine and his were a light shade of brown with some flecks of green in them. When he shut the door of his car, his face morphed into one of worry."Are you okay?" He asked and I sighed."You should not be driving at such speed on campus. You
|||My classes had ended for the day and I was exhausted and hungry. My feet hurt from walking around the whole place and my back hurt too. Each day that went by, I had to go through the small stress this pregnancy brought me. I rubbed my bump as I left the building with my phone raised to my face. I smiled at the text from Lucas, saying he was parked outside. I raised my head and saw him inside his car with the door opened. I placed my phone into my purse and walked down to the last step and as soon as I did, someone came into my line of vision. I frowned when I saw it was Matt."Hi," he said and I rolled my eyes."What do you want?" I asked and glanced at Lucas who was now focused on his phone. My phone vibrated in my purse and I knew it was a text from Lucas. Matt smiled and scratched the back of his head."I want to apologize for offending you in any way today. I'm a nice guy, sorry if I am stressing you or anything. You seem like a nice girl too and I want to be your friend," h
|||I blinked when Barry moved away from Axel who gasped when he did not see the key in his hand. Barry laughed and jogged out of the house. I giggled and glanced at Jared who was now using his phone with a frown on his face."I'm going to get their ass for that," Axel said."Can you not give me a picture in my head, man?" I pleaded and Axel winked before turning his attention toward Jared."Jared, my man. Where's my gift?"Jared had gone on a business trip in Japan and in our group chat, Axel had nagged that Jared buys him something."I did. It's in my apartment," he replied in a terse tone.Axel chuckled but awkwardly. "Are you okay?""Yeah, you sound weird," I said and Jared nodded."I'm fine. It's probably jetlag from me coming back last night. Must've been still tired.""Don't worry," Axel said, standing up. "You hungry? I can make you something to eat because the only time you visits is either for food or to take something from our kitchen."Jared smiled, genuinely this time and
|||I got home that evening feeling exhausted and dreading the perks of being pregnant. Worst of all, I was always hungry and noticed I started adding a small amount of weight. Most of my pants didn't fit me anymore, my shirts were tighter and only my dresses fit at this point. It made me wonder how the remaining five months were going to be.As I walked into the living room, I saw the large television was turned on and showing a basketball game, which meant that Lucas was home. I got the aroma of pasta and fried chicken which made my mouth water. I inhaled deeply and smiled then made my way to the kitchen. I smiled at the sight of Lucas backing me then glanced at the bowls sitting on the island in the center of the kitchen."What's that delicious smell?" I asked, walking into the kitchen.Lucas spun around and I raised an eyebrow. He was wearing an apron that had stains on it. The places where the apron didn't cover were equally stained and I almost laughed when I saw a green leaf s
|||Lucas' POV"Come again?" Jackie requested in a neutral voice. This wasn't happening. There was no way this was possible. Just when my life was going to be full of happiness and love with Jackie, someone comes and ruins it.Cindy barely looked in Jackie's direction as her attention was on me. She dropped her arms she was crossing and frowned deeper."Lucas, you are a father," she said. "No," I retorted. "I don't know what you're on about but you need to understand that I am nothing of such to you."Cindy scoffed. "I did not come from Redside to lie to you. I have evidence to back up what I am saying."I clenched my hands and looked at Jackie. Her eyes were fixed on something behind Cindy and when I followed her gaze, I saw a baby stroller. My heart tightened at the possibility of a baby laying in it and the fact that what Cindy was saying could be true."Cindy, leave," I ordered and she scoffed."No," she said. "I won't because I've lost everything because of you. I have a family
|||Lucas' POV"I'll start the payment for the apartment you'll be staying in," I said, parking in front of a hotel building. "In the meantime, you'll stay in this hotel." I dropped my hands from the steering wheel and glanced at Cindy beside me on the passenger seat. She was silent and had not said anything since I drove her out of the neighborhood, which was good for me because I was too angry to say anything to her or hear her speak. "How safe is this place?" She asked."What kind of a question is that?" I asked back and she sighed heavily."I've been living with our son—""Your son," I cut her off. "He's your child until I find out what if he is mine.""Whatever," Cindy said. "What I am trying to say is that I don't feel safe. Ever since I started staying in hotels, I've always been attacked, robbed, or almost assaulted. I fear for the safety of my son and myself."I rolled my eyes, not feeling anything like concern for her. "How does that concern me?" I asked through the litt
|||Lucas' POVIt was the next day and I had to run a test to know if I was the real father of the baby Cindy claimed was mine. I had barely slept a wink last night because I was nervous and restless, thinking of how I had been careless or how I got her pregnant when I was the most careful person when it came to such. It was only with Jackie that I let myself lose.I snapped out of my thoughts when I saw Cindy closing in on my car. I unlocked the doors and got out of the car then went around it. She was carrying a baby seat and I quickly opened the back door. She was carrying the baby in one of those baby carriers parents hung on their chests."Good morning," she said and I ignored her.I took the seat from her and aligned it at the back of the car. She placed the baby into the back of the car and I went back to the driver's side. I boarded the car and waited for her to strap the baby in his seat. Once she was done, she got into the car. The moment I started the car, Cindy shoved her
Smut Ahead. |||Jackie's POVLucas had not come home from the hospital and I was getting worried. He had texted me two hours ago that they arrived at the hospital and were waiting for their turn. While I was not bothered about the fact that he might be the child's father, I didn't like the idea of not being the one to give him his first child. It was not a good feeling at all.I pushed the thought away from my head and continued to clean the sink with the dry towel in my hand. I hung the towel on the handle of the dishwasher and walked out of the kitchen. As I turned toward the stairs, I heard the front door opening and closing.I turned around and saw Lucas leaning against the door with his eyes closed. I smiled and crossed the room, meeting him at the door. He opened his eyes and then his arms for a hug."I need a hug," he said and I giggled before wrapping my arms around his waist. He tightly hugged me, stuffing his face in the crook of my neck. I furrowed my eyebrows at his hug a
