Ch. 16

Rays of sun peaked in through the shades waking me up early. It was about 6 o’clock in the morning, which felt too early to be awake after last night. I tried to fall back asleep, but it was pointless. Heli was restless, I hadn’t let her out since our first night on campus and with everything going on she could really use a run.

I snuck out not wanting to wake Charles up. I left a little note, telling him I would be running through the fairy trail for about an hour. I told him not to worry, fully knowing that he will worry anyway. I was sure I’d get an earful from him when I returned. I won’t mind it though, in fact I kind of like it when Charles scolds me. I smiled thinking about it.

I quietly ran toward the fairy trail. The sun was still rising but it was mostly bright outside. The animals in the woods were starting to wake, as the chirping of birds filled the air.
