Teamwork Starts Now

Chapter 5 

An enormous-looking worm rose from the ground. The guards were unshaken and so were Lucia and Clarisse.

"It's a 'Ver De Terre', a massive one surprisingly," Clarisse said.

"Clarissa! Let's do work!" Lucia said enthusiastically, and the two walked forward.

"We'll handle this, stay back there and protect the princess," Clarisse ordered the guards.

"You hear her!" The captain added.

"We'll do this," Zane was beside the two.

Clarissa was surprised at Zane but looks at what's ahead of her and gets serious. Zane and Clarisse draw their swords.

Lucia shouts, "Monsum!" And a staff appeared in her hands.

Zane and Clarisse charge and Lucia releases a protection spell, "Division! Air Solidification!"

The Ver De Terre charges but was halted by the giant air barrier that Lucia has cast. Making it unable to attack Zane and Clarisse while they charge.

Clarisse shouted, "Sword Technique: Elemental Control!"... "Fire" and Clarisse's sword ignited into flames. She attacked the worm at the belly first.

Zane brings out a bottle and throws it at the grounds,  it summons a 'war golem.' The war golem held the worm in place allowing Zane to strike the Ver De Terre.

"Ice!" Clarisse's sword turns into solid ice now, and she continues the assault.

"Barrage! Hundred meteors!" Lucia shouted, and small meteors fell out of the sky hitting the Ver De Terre continuously.

The Ver De Terre falls in pain from the continuous combined force of the three….. It rose once again. Zane and Clarisse backed off to avoid getting hit.

Zane was slow enough and the Ver De Terre was able to hit him. He was sent flying back. He grabs a potion from his belt and crushed it between his hands. And now he's ready to fight once again.

"Lucia! What's the biggest explosion you can do?! I've figured out its weakness!" Zane yelled.

"It's a hard spell to cast, and it takes time to make," Lucia replied.

"That's fine!"

"Clarisse! Let's give Lucia time," Zane suggested.

"After you," Clarisse told Zane.

Zane charged at the Ver De Terre once more. Giving it a huge hit followed by Clarisse's elemental blows. 

"Krix Technique: Dance of swords!" Clarisse said, five clones of her out of mana appeared and struck the Ver De Terre one after another.

"I feel so useless at this point. I don't know how to use any spell or how to cast even the basics of it," Zane thought as he slice through the giant work with his sharp sword.

The War Golem still tries to hold back the worm from passing through the barrier Lucia has made by holding it down.

"Lucia! Any time now," Zane said.

"It's done!"... " Explosion Technique: Devastating Exploblast!" Lucia shouted! As a huge red beam fires from her staff pointed at the Ver De Terre.

"Golem, now!" Zane ordered the golem, and the golem opened the Ver De Terre's mouth, wide open for the Exploblast to shoot inside it and blast a hole in its back, killing it instantly.

Clarisse felt victorious, Zane was tired, and Lucia ran out of energy. Zane runs to Lucia, this time, he's the one lending a hand to help her stand.

Zane inhaled deeply and said, "you two did a good job, I couldn't do anything useful but just command for a little."

"How did you summon that War Golem? It's a grandmaster-level spell," Lucia was intrigued and smiled.

"I had a potion for it. When I ran to grab my sword, I saw it. That's why I grabbed it cause I thought 'why not' since it's no harm to be overprotective," Zane bluntly said.

"How did you know that my huge explosion will work? I've never seen such a big Ver De Terre so I was surprised," Lucia asked once again.

"You question me too much. But I know an anime where a character only knows how to use explosions," Zane explained and walks back to the carriage to check on the guards and Roùx.

Clarisse sheaths her sword and asks Lucia, "what's an anime?"

Lucia shrugs and replies, "I don't know as well. Maybe that's what they call mages in his world."

"Are you guys all right?" Zane asked the guards.

"We're all safe thanks to you hero," the captain responded.

"No need for formalities, refer to me as Zane or just Z." Zane then shouted, "Roùx are you all right?!"

Roùx peeks in front of the carriage and replies, "I'm fine! I was well protected by my guards."

Zane puts up a meh face as he knows he's the one who protected Roùx.

"Apologies, Princess Roùx has been rude towards you hero," the captain said and bowed in respect along with his men.

"Go back to your guy's wagon and let's continue this escort-looking thing," Zane suggested.

The guards went back to their posts, and the goods from their destroyed wagon were scavenged and dumped on the other wagons.

They arrived at Etheria in no time, since there were no more anomalies that happened along the way, and it was already nighttime.

Roùx hops out of Zane's carriage and says, "Genufaze."

Protection surrounding all of Etheria opened and all wagons and Zane's carriage entered the vast kingdom of Etheria.

"You're welcome," Roùx told Zane.

"The three of you should stay at the tavern and tomorrow a guard of mine will pick you up," Roùx explained.

"Thanks about the tavern tip. But I don't need your guard to pick us up. We're just going to a library, I just need to read some scrolls," Zane replied.

"You can't, only authorized personnel and mages are allowed to study the scrolls. Even the hero cannot justify being a hero," Roùx explained even more.

Zane looked at Lucia, and Lucia nodded yes. He gave a big sigh and says, "if we have important matters to discuss, send your guard then. 

"We do, see you then," Roùx gets in her wagon and leaves.

The three went to a nearby tavern where Zane got two rooms to separate him and the two. This time he asks Clarisse and Clarisse follows Zane.

They all went into their rooms and stayed at the tavern for the night
