Smell a woman

The birds chirping in the tree not so far from Aurora’s window pulled her back to her consciousness from her very deep sleep.

It was the first time in months she actually did have a goodnight sleep. She had a very comfortable bed to lay on, her father was probably given the best care he had ever been given.

There was no reason to cry herself to sleep this time. For these reasons, she felt a little bit relaxed about everything in her life.

With a hearty smile, she yanked the duvet off her lower body and dragged her feet to the window. She pulled the curtains apart with her two hands, letting her eyes feast on the beautiful morning sight from her window.

“Woah.” She uttered as soon as she saw the blue radiant swimming pool just behind her window. This wasn’t the only thing that wowed her, but also Arthur who was swimming in the water.

His whole body was in the water and he moved so smoothly like a fish. “He isn’t going to work today?” She muttered to herself, totally forgetting it was the weekend.

Just then, Arthur lifted his head from inside the water and shook the water off his hair, splashing water all around him.

Aurora stared at him intensely, her eyes struggling to stay on his magnificent face, but it was impossible. Not with his snatched, contoured chest and abs.

The tiny hair strands that laid down smoothly from his belly button, into his shorts, guided Aurora’s eyes down his lower body.

‘Damn! He’s so fine.’ She thought, unable to move her eyes off him.

Arthur let out a deep breath and proceeded out of the water as Carter approached him with a white towel.

“Is she awake?” He asked Carter as he collected the towel from him and began to dry his hair.

“I don’t think so, Mr. Arthur.” Carter answered.

He nodded and lifted his head to look at her window. He scoffed and looked away, shaking his head.

“She’s awake. Her curtains are apart. Is breakfast ready?” He asked as he began to walk back to the house.

“Yes, Boss.”

“Good. Invite her to join me at the table. The last thing I want is for my baby to come out malnourished.” He retorted.

Aurora’s heart raced as she dodged being seen by Arthur on time. She heaved a deep sigh and looked at the drawer for her phone.

Moving closer to the drawer to look closer, she recalled that her phone was collected by Arthur the previous night, and he was yet to give her the new one he promised.

‘This man loves getting on my nerves, doesn’t he?!’ She clenched her jaws and fists as she slammed into the bed again.

Not so long after, there was a knock on her door, causing her to stand up from the bed.

“Who is there?” She asked, walking to the door. Deep down, she hoped it was Arthur, standing in front of the door without his shirt on.

‘It wouldn’t be so bad to see such a magnificent body up close.’

“Good morning, Miss Aurora. It’s Carter. I hope you slept well.” Carter uttered in a calm and welcoming manner.

Aurora opened the door and let out a faint smile. “I did, thank you.” She answered.

“I’m glad you did. Breakfast is ready, and Mr. Arthur would love you to join him at the table.” Carter told her.

‘Now we’re having breakfast together? I thought he didn’t want any closure whatsoever.’ She creased her brows as she thought.

“Why though? I already decided that I’d be having breakfast in my room. I mean, it has its own dining area.” She answered, and he nodded.

“Yes, I know, Miss Aurora. But Mr. Arthur wants you to join him. See you soon, Ma’am.” Carter answered and turned to walk away.

Aurora took a deep breath before slamming the door shut. ‘Who does he think he is, bossing me around like I’m some maid!’

She frowned as she walked to the closet and opened it. Her grumpy face instantly disappeared immediately she saw how stocked up her closet was.

There were so many segments of clothings. One was for jackets, another for dresses, another for pants, another for skirts and many more.

This truly amazed Aurora, but what surprised her the most was that the clothes fit her perfectly when she began to try them on.

“Did he also ask for my measurements when he was looking into me?” She mumbled, checking out the pink bodycon dress she had on in the mirror.

The dress stopped above her knees, hugged her body tightly, revealing her hour-glass curves. It made her waist look thinner than usual, and her hips were threatening to tear the sides of the dress.

She stared at her belly to see if she could notice any changes but there was nothing. Everything looked and felt absolutely normal.

“I guess that is a good sign. I’ll wear this for breakfast.”

After freshening up, Aurora headed down to the dining area majestically. She felt like a Queen in her dress. The last time she wore such a beautiful dress was her birthday.

Getting to the dining table, she met Arthur eating already. He didn’t bother raising his head, neither did he look at her. He was all engrossed with his food and phone.

“Good morning.” Aurora greeted as she picked up her plate to serve herself from the different delicacies on the table.

She tried so hard not to look and get all excited because of these expensive meals in front of her. She didn’t want to give him more reasons to be disrespectful to her.

Her nonchalant greeting made Arthur raise his head to look at her for the first time. He stared at her as she put some pasta and shrimps on her plate.

“Add some vegetables. I heard they’re good for pregnant women.” Arthur added, shifting his gaze back to his phone.

Aurora scoffed and looked at him. “I am not yet pregnant, okay? The insemination was just yesterday. It will take a week or two before it’s confirmed.” She answered, adding some vegetables on her plate.

Arthur said no words, rather, he raised his hand and signaled Carter to move closer. In Carter’s hand was a carton of an iPhone, which he placed next to Aurora’s plate.

“This is your new phone, Miss Aurora.” Carter uttered and turned to leave immediately.

She looked at Arthur to see if he had anything to say, but he just kept scrolling through his phone.

“Thank you, Carter.” She uttered. She picked up the carton and removed the phone from inside it. Switching it on, she wondered which of her contacts he left on her phone.

As soon as the phone came on, the first thing she checked were her contacts, and to her greatest surprise, only four contacts were spared out of the hundreds she had.

“Just four?” She asked in awe.

“The most important ones.” He answered, raising his head to look at her, and this time, their gazes locked.

The four contacts include; Her father’s doctor, her mother, her father, and lastly, Carter’s.

“Why do I have Carter’s? We live in the same house.”

“You’ll find out soon enough. Eat well and gain some strength and weight. I don’t want my baby to be introduced to a malnourished body.” He mumbled as he continued eating.

“Malnourished? Are you serious right now?” Because you’re rich doesn’t make you healthier than me. I bet my profile told you that.” She answered, feeling offended by the way he addressed her.

“Don’t take it to heart. I just want the best for my baby. After you’re done, you can do whatever you please with your body. For now… it isn’t only yours…”

“Of course… it’s yours too?? because I’m carrying your baby??” She asked with a frown.

“Don’t worry. I want this nine months gone faster than you can ever imagine. At least then I won’t have to smell a woman in my house ever again.” He muttered, as he stood up, moved his chair backwards and walked away.

“Smell a woman? What does that even mean?”
