"Happy? Why should I be happy? Life is a freaking sh*t! There's no reason to be happy at all!" Zren fumed in frustration and glared at the person who should be in age between eighteen to twenty years old.
Approximately three meters away from Zren, the guy was sitting under a broken lampshade, the lightbulb was blinking every moment, making other people dizzy. However, it seemed that the guy didn't care about it, on the opposite it looked like he was even enjoying it.
Aside from the blinking light, the guy was also wearing a hoodie jacket so Zren couldn't see clearly what he looked like. But based on his physique she knew that this person was hiding some charm.
The guy who just spoke earlier let out a light chuckle. He turned his head to look at Zren and said, "Well, it looks like you've got some huge problems with you."
"I have! I have a ton of them, so much that I just want to give up!"
"Relax, calm down first," the guy uttered as he raised one of his hands gesturing for Zren to take a breath.
"Relax? How I am supposed to relax? Today was new year's eve and I freaking received a huge BANG! I just took a very huge blow and now I am so overwhelmed!"
Celestine's pregnancy was like an explosive bomb that shook Zren to the core.
The guy's corner of his lips couldn't help but twitched as he stared at the random girl that was venting her anger at him. After a few moments, he tapped the empty space beside him and gestured to Zren to come over.
Zren's eyebrows furrowed, she asked in confusion, "Why?"
The guy didn't answer, he opened the gym bag beside him for Zren to see. The gym bag was full of canned beer and some chips, there were also freshly cooked steamed buns.
"It's better to spend the time thinking about your problems with the magical beer."
Seeing the canned beers and food, Zren didn't hesitate anymore, she walked towards the broken lampshade and sat beside the guy.
Since it was free then why would she still hesitate? There was no way she would say no to the blessing that was offered to her.
Zren immediately took a can of beer, she pulled the lid off it. The moment she opened the can the refreshing sound resounded in her ears that made her want to drink the beer in one go.
Zren drank a mouthful of beer, the sweet but at the same time, bitter taste of the beer quenched her thirst. She didn't stop until she was satisfied.
The guy silently watched Zren from beside, after a few moments he asked, "So what's the problem? Quick tell me, I'm willing to lend you my ears."
"I have two of them, I don't need yours, so keep it," Zren sarcastically replied.
"I'm serious."
Zren let out a deep sigh and explained, "I found out that my sister is pregnant."
"Oh? Isn't it that good, that you're going to have a nephew?"
"If it is my older sister then I'm fine with it but, unfortunately, I don't have one. I only have a twin sister."
The guy was silent and didn't respond. Now that was a huge problem.
Zren took another mouthful of beer and then she continued, "What about you? Just like you have said today is new year's eve, shouldn't you spend your time with your family?"
The guy shook his head, "Nah, we don't celebrate new year so I went out to spend with my own."
Zren rolled her eyes. "Liar, just by looking at how wasted you look right now, let me guess, is it a girl?"
"You're pretty smart huh?" the guy complimented.
Zren let out a smirk that was full of pride, she then continued, "Let me take another guess, that girl, she cheated on you right?"
Hearing the other person's guess, the guy was now really amazed by Zren.
Even though his expression was hidden under the hood of his jacket, Zren knew that the guy had a shocked expression right now.
"You're amazing," the guy finally said. "That's right, my ex-girlfriend cheated on me then ran away to who knows where."
"Well, maybe you are a jerk that's why she choose to be with others."
"Yes, no, maybe? I don't know," the guy shrugged his shoulders, he didn't also know why his ex-girlfriend left.
"Well, that's how life is. Love sucks, it will make people dumb. Even smart ones will become an idiot when they fall in love."
Just like what happened to her sister, Celestine. She was a brilliant person, people praise her because of her academic achievements. However, even Celestine wasn't willing to admit to Zren, that that the fact that how she made a mistake was all because of love.
Zren knew that her sister had a boyfriend, however, she didn't know what his name was nor what he looked like. Even though Zren wanted to investigate, she couldn't, because Celestine's school was located in another city, it was too far.
Zren took a long pause and then she added, "Yet even though people already knew that they will get hurt, they will still try. Humans are fool beings."
"You're right, we are fools," the guy said.
Zren opened another can of beer and spoke, "Anyway, I just want to thank you."
The guy's eyebrows knitted together, he asked, "Huh? For what."
"Thank you for listening to my problems, and also for these free drinks and foods."
Zren didn't know what was the reason behind it, however even though she just met the guy, and didn't know his name or what his face looked like because of the hoodie blocking it, she felt comfortable with him. As if they were already close friends.
The guy let out a smile under his hoodie, just as he was about to remove it to show his face to Zren, a loud explosion resounded in their ears, one after another.
Zren looked at her watch, she checked the time, indeed, it was already exact twelve midnight.
Another year had again passed.
The loud sound of firecrackers didn't end, it continued to let out a series of ear-deafening loud bangs. After a few seconds, a firework made its way into the sky and exploded in grace and a beautiful manner. The colorful light brightened the dark sky for a while before it gradually faded. However, after the first one exploded it was followed by another one and another one.
The endless stream of fireworks from different places shot into the dark cloudy sky, they exploded beautifully almost at the same time, brightening up the sky as if it was daylight. The fireworks danced with each other, they accompany the lonely moon to lit up the whole night, creating very dazzling scenery.
The shimmer of mixed lights reflected in Zren's pair of mesmerizing emerald green eyes. Amazement was clear on her face.
As she watched the lively and colorful firework display, Zren felt like, for a short moment her problems seemed faded, it gave her peace. Her heart was calm as an undisturbed lake.
The guy also looked at the sky and then he glanced at Zren. He put the hood of his hoodie back in order to cover his face.
"Happy New Year!"
Zren let out a light chuckle and greeted back in a loud voice, "Man, happy new year!"
Under the blinking streetlight, two silhouettes of people sitting under it could be seen. There were cans of beer beside them and drinking together as they watched the fireworks display.
Two strangers who had just met not even an hour ago, spending the time to welcome the new year together.
When the fireworks display came to an end, it was also the time for the two to bid a goodbye to each other.
Zren stood up and patted the dust away from her pants.
"Before I said goodbye, can I ask what's your name?" Zren asked.
"Say yours first," the guy demanded.
Zren sighed in defeat and reluctantly answered, "Zryshiene."
She gave her full name because that was more formal and only people who were close to her were the ones that were allowed to call her "Zren."
"Nice to meet you Zryshiene, I'm Weidon," the guy pulled down his hood and extended his hands.
Zren couldn't react for a few moments, she was rooted in her place the moment she saw Weidon's face.
Weidon had a very charming and striking facial feature. His expressionless phoenix eyes perfectly matched his thin well-shaped eyebrows. Highbridge and pointed nose, alluring red lips, and a very attractive jawline. Not only that even his face was flawless, so flawless that you couldn't even find single acne.
However, even though the guy had a clear face it didn't appear feminine because it was the opposite, it made him even more handsome! So handsome that many females would go crazy if they saw him.
D*mn! Zren cursed in her mind. If she only knew that all this time she was talking to a such handsome man, she wouldn't hesitate to flirt with him!
Zren who was dazed forced herself to come back to reality. She immediately shook hands with Weidon.
"Happy New Year again and it's nice to meet you. Goodbye," Weidon waved at Zren and walked towards the opposite side of the road.
"Goodbye, it's also nice to meet you," Zren replied.
Weidon was about to cross the road when he stopped his track and turned to Zren.
"Zryshiene, if someday we meet again, I hope to see your beautiful face by then," Weidon said and let out a charming smile before crossing the road.
There was a luxury van waiting for him. He got in the car and told the driver to drive away.
Zren watched Weidon's car slowly getting smaller and smaller until it was gone.
"Dang! Did he just flirt with me?" Zren foolishly asked herself, smiling widely as she remembered Weidon.
"So handsome."
However, behind Zren's knowledge the guy she just complimented was the main reason for the biggest problem she was facing right now.
Zren's sister's ex-boyfriend, the one who got Celestine pregnant and also the same person who ruined Celestine's life, was none other than...

The sun shone brightly on the clear dazzling azure sky without a trace of a single dot of fluffy white clouds. It lit up the whole stretch of the sky, some morning dews were still on the plants' leaves, birds were happily chirping on tree branches and the cold morning wind hadn't still dissipated. Such a wonderful weather to start your day but it was the opposite for a certain girl who was standing on one of the building rooftops in her school. On the bright sunny morning at West High also known as Westernville Highschool. A school that was one of the best high-end private schools in their place. Zren stood on the rooftop in dazed. She unblinking stared at the wide-open field that was covered with healthy green bermudagrass. Some students were playing, chasing each other, and live chatting in a group. Zren was immersed in her thoughts when suddenly someone approached her. "You are daydreaming again," a helpless voice resounded in Zren's ears. Zren glanced at the person who just ta
Ten years later. Time quickly passed by, people changed day by day. In a blink of an eye, ten years had already passed. It was seven in the evening, the sun had long settled and the sky was already pitch black. The stars and moon were shining in the sky, trying their best to light up the dark night. In one of the offices on the top floor of the Lawless Law Firm, there was a twenty-eight years old woman, who had medium-length wavy hair dyed with a galaxy blue and purple color which made her more stunning and gorgeous together with her beautiful face. The woman was sitting on the black leather swivel chair, while one of her elbows was placed on the table, supporting her chin. It seemed that she was thinking about something deep, immersed in her thoughts, and didn't even care about her surroundings. The woman's train of thoughts was interrupted when a man's voice resounded in her ears. “Boss,” the man said. He looked at his boss but it looked like she didn't hear him and didn't ev
Because of the heavy traffic along the road, it was already ten in the evening when Zren arrived home. Using a small remote control, she pressed a few buttons, and slowly the large gate of the house automatically opened. Zren drove in and parked her car outside. She was too tired and lazy to park it in the garage because she would also use it tomorrow, so it was more convenient to leave it right there. Zren got out of her car, she took her bag from the passenger seat and walked toward the door. The door was not a manual one but a digital one, one would need to use their fingerprint for them to open it. It didn't need a key you only need to press your finger that was registered on the system and you could enter easily. Zren pressed her middle finger against the scanner and the door automatically opened. When she entered the house, all the lights were already switched off, it was dark and silent. Probably that her sons were already sleeping. Zren carefully went upstairs to change
Zren woke up in a familiar yet at the same time an unfamiliar dark shady room. She rubbed her eyes and scanned the surroundings to check if it was indeed her room at the Blue Moon Residence. Her eyebrows knitted together and formed a confused frown. Lights were switched off, the room was dark and silent, and only the dim silver light of the bright moon shining through the gaps of the long curtains was the source of the brightness. Confused, Zren got up from the bed and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows on the balcony. She tipped her toe to uncover the curtains. The moment Zren opened the curtains she jolted out of shock when she saw a familiar person standing on the balcony. The person was none other than, Axis. He didn't notice Zren because his back was facing her, and there was a thin glass separating them from each other. "Man? Axis?" Zren couldn't help but utter as she touched the glass. She tried to slide the door open but her efforts were in vain. It seemed that it
The next day, Zren packed her things and sent Zhen and Xhyne first to school before going to the place of the event. The event was held at the Casa de Verhillo a prestigious hotel located outside Central City. After Zren graduated college from the Sevirillo State University, she, Yashi, and the twin moved to Central City because of a job opportunity. With Zren's innate talent and high IQ, it was not hard for her to find a job. Soon she got a job at the number one law firm in the country, however, just after staying there for a few hours, she was immediately fired on the spot. As for why? She just offended a person she was supposed not to. That was how she found the Lawless Law Firm, she could still clearly remember what she did just to get a job. It was one of the most embarrassing but at the same time one of the most memorable experiences she had. As said earlier, Casa de Verhillo was located outside the Central City, it was three hours drive at normal speed, but for Zren's spe
Zren wore the off-shoulder satin dress she bought earlier and paired it with a black pointed strap heels sandals that she brought with her. Her wavy galaxy blue hair was tied into a clean half-bun making her even more gorgeous than before. Zren was holding the "gift" in one of her hands. As for what was her gift? It was the rice wine she got from the Nio's shop. A few hours earlier after she went back from buying clothes, she called the hotel's management to request some things such as black cardboard, scented papers, glue, scissors, paint, and other art materials. Using her creativity and with a little bit of help from do-it-yourself or DIY video tutorials posted on the internet, Zren started to create an elegant and expensive-looking packaging for the cheap unbranded wine she bought. She maximized her creativity even though she was not that good at making crafts. After making a paper bag out of the black cardboard, she next created a box for the two bottles of wine. After a
The sudden kiss shocked Zren to the core. She wanted to struggle however, the man was gripping both of her wrists pinning her against the hard wall. There was a large gap between a woman's and a man's strength after all. It was clear who was stronger between them. Just as the person was about to explore her mouth, Zren took a deep breath and bit the man's lower lips as hard as she could. Her canine teeth pierced through the man's lips causing it to blood severely. "F*ck!" Weidon hissed when he felt a stinging pain in his lips. He let Zren go and touch his wound, it was deep and bleeding non-stop. Zren pushed the man and slapped his right cheek using her fullest strength. The impact was so hard that it echoed within the empty hallway, there was even a handprint left on Weidon's left cheek. Zren covered her lips with her palm and stared at Weidon, eyes were full of disbelief. "Omo, my first kiss!" Zren mumbled to herself, her tone was full of grievance and frustration. The
On the top floor of the headquarters of Galcon Development Corporation, Weidon was inside his office, sitting in a swivel chair. He was wearing a formal suit together with his cold and serious demeanor. Infront of Weidon was his secretary, Secretary Lemur, holding a couple of papers looking serious. "Sir these are the lists of the people who attended the event held in Casa de Verhillo. There's no one named Celestine Zaliarde in the list." He gave the stapled papers to Weidon. "Are you sure?" Secretary Lemur nodded. "Yes Sir, I've checked the list myself many times there is really no one named Celestine Zaliarde." "The CCTV footage?" Before answering Lemur fixed his crooked eyeglasses and said, "The room that the woman in the video walked into was rented by an anonymous person. There is no name or anything else. It seems that the person has a strong connection in the hotel." Little did the two know that the one who reserved the room was Louzvent's secretary. He used an anonymou
