Garett felt nothing but complete protectiveness for the woman who was sleeping next to him as they lay there in the dark. It had been some time since he had a woman near him, but this one was so different from the ones he had in the past. The connection that was there was forged through years of knowing each other and the simple fact that they both hated one person though he wasn’t sure if she really hated Joyce until tonight.

Sara was confused and sleepy still. She was aware of him and his hands that were on her. She didn’t know why everything felt so different with him. She thought she was completely broke when it came to men, and there he was, trying to make everything better.
