Chapter 2: Announcement

Gwen, slow down!" I screamed. I was running to meet up with my tremendously fast-paced elder sister. It was a very difficult task because of the items I was carrying

"Can you stop your whining and just keep up." Gwen said irritatedly

"But, I have so many things I'm carrying, it's difficult to keep up with you." We were standing next to a podium that was made in the village for special announcements. Two men were standing on the podium.

"Fine, I'll try to walk slowly." Gwen said. One of the men began;

"His highness, the crown prince will be coronated tomorrow to become our new king. The people of Eastway are therefore invited to see their king after the coronation at 4pm sharp." One of the men who was a guard at the palace said.

"Aurora, did you hear that?" My elder sister Gwen asked.

"Yes Gwen I did. It was expected since he turned twenty-five last week. He is the crown prince."

"Yes, let's go home and tell mother and father." Gwen said. She immediately ran towards our house that was just a few miles away.

"Gwen!" Aurora called after her sister. Gwen on getting to her house, barged in. "Mom! The crown prince will be coronated tomorrow and..." "What's wrong?" Gwen asked when she saw the worried expression on her face.

"It's nothing Gwen." Mrs Harson said.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure."

"Ok, where's dad?" Her mother replied saying; "He had to head out"

"As I was saying mother, the crown prince is getting coronated tomorrow." Said Gwen.

"That's good, we will finally have a king again." Said Mrs Harson.

"Yes, and all of the villagers have been invited to see the king after the coronation." Gwen said with a gleam in her eyes.

Gwen has never seen the crown prince before so she was curious to see if the rumours were true. It was said that he was a very handsome man, that had god-like features. They also said that he was every girl's dream. There were also rumours about him being cold, heartless and cunning too.

"So you want to go right?"

"Yes mother, can me and Aurora go?"

"Of course, and where is your sister?" Before Gwen could answer her mother's question, Aurora came through the door.

"Why did you leave me alone? Do you know how heavy these items are?" Aurora asked with a frown on her face. She couldn't believe her sister had run off and left her to suffer.

"Gwen why didn't you help your sister?"

"I'm sorry, I was just really excited."

"I noticed." Aurora said.

"Mom said we can go see the crown prince tomorrow."

"Really?" Their mom yelled out, "Girls come help me here." They immediately went to help their mother.

"I don't mean to be rude, but is this right?" A man asked. There was another man who was much taller than the first man. He was dressed in black clothes, merging with the darkness.

"Do you have a problem with it?" Asked the man that was dressed in black.

"No.. It's just that, don't you think that they might find it suspicious?" The first man asked. He was holding a shovel in his hands.

"And what is so suspicious about a body turning up In the middle of the forest?" His hands were tucked in his pockets, though the shorter man couldn't seee this.

"But this man has been missing for over a month." Said the shorter man. He was supposed to dig up a body, A body that has been buried for over a month.

"The murderer is having too much fun fooling around the kingdom. I believe it's time to install a little fear in him." Said the taller man.

"Alright, as you say." The shorter man then started to dig up the corpse. The taller man was unmoved by the foul odour that emanted from the corpse. Finally the corpse was removed.

"Where shall I place it?" The smaller looking man asked with a scrunched nose.

"Dig up another hole, a smaller one and place it there." When the man finally finished digging the hole, he placed the corpse in it, but it was so small, that the corpse could not be properly covered.

"But, it's very visible." The man said in confusion. He wondered what was going through his employer's head.

"This will enable them to find it faster, they will just assume that it was the previous rains that caused some soil to come off." The smaller man nodded in approval. The two men finished their task, and walked further into the darkness, until they couldn't be seen.
