First, I wanted to laugh at how ridiculous she sounded, but when her serious face didn't change my laugher soon faded.
"You're a spy, a spy for what and who?" I ask crossing my arms, she has to give me more than that if I was going to even remotely believe her.She says she can't fully tell me but she for works for high up people, I shake my head looking away trying to process all this information."So, all this time you've really been here, away from your family to work for some higher up people, with the events that have happened these last few days, I can take a guess that dad going missing is because of your line of work." I say looking at her growing angrier with each second that past, she just nods her head looking to the floor avoiding eye contact with me."I can now answer the questions you asked me first; you are at the base for the operation I run that hunts down some of the world's most profound criminals and brings them to justice, you're here because this is the safest place for you at the moment." She says answering my first two questions but hesitates on the last about my dad. "At this moment I don't know where your dad is, but I'm doing everything in my power to find him." She says tears beginning to prick her eyes as she spoke, which makes fear start creep up inside me."Has dad been kidnapped?" I ask looking at her with tearful eyes myself, she looks up sending me a sad nod before looking back down, this causes another question to come to my mind. "Are the people that have dad, the bad people you bring to justice?" I ask a single tear escaping my eye as she once again nods, I turn away the tears fully leaving my eyes as she spoke up behind me."For years now my team and I have been tracking these horrible people that just go around stealing, vandalising and killing. We got a close lead last week and were about to shut their whole program down, when I got your call that your dad was missing." She says as I stop walking and turn to look at her, I couldn't believe what I was being told, she pauses but soon continues."On the way to taking you to the hospital, I got a message from them telling me they have your father and if we tried anything they'd..." she says but doesn't finish her sentence, which makes me walk over to her not allowing her to stop talking."They'd do what?" I ask crossing my arms, she looks down saying they'd kill him which makes me walk around again, why would anyone want to hurt my dad?"So, because of the work you do, my dad has been kidnapped where he might be killed and you're just standing there doing nothing, feeling sorry for yourself!" I shout finally losing my temper with this person that's supposed to be my mother, ha she probably doesn't even know when my birthday is!"Ally please don't, I'm trying everything I can do to find him." She says pleading with me to calm down, but I shake my head turning away. "I'm trying! I know he's your dad but he's my husband" she cries which once again makes me blow my top with anger."Which you haven't seen in nearly two years! You've just forgotten about us! We're your family but all you seem to care about is your job!" I shout back holding back cries that wanted to come out, this is something I've been holding in basically my entire life. "You've never been there for us when we needed you, ever since I was born you just left us to defend for ourselves, does dad know what you really do?" I ask finally looking at her face, where tears were rolling down her cheeks, I really didn't give a damn to honest."No, he wasn't meant to know what I really do, no one is." She says wiping her tears, but more were falling, so it really wasn't doing much."You left your husband to look after your daughter without even being honest why, he's stood by you all these years and you can't even be honest with him." I say looking over at her in a disgusted way, she walks over to stand in front of me."I wanted to tell him what I was really doing but I wasn't allowed, I hated leaving you two but it's what I had to do." She says as one of the doors at the top open, she quickly turns around wiping her tears away as Jackson walks beside me."I'm sorry for disturbing you but you're due for a meeting in two minutes, I tried to reschedule but they wouldn't allow it." He says over at my mother, she just nods not turning around to look at us."It's okay, take Ally to my house where she'll be staying, don't leave until I get there." She says still facing away not even bothering to look me in the eye, what a coward, she can't be that good of a spy.Jackson takes my arm sending me a soft smile before guiding me out the room, just before we leave, I turn back to look at my mum who looked at me in the eyes, I just shake my head allowing Jackson to lead me away. The car ride to my mother's house was long and silent, I was trying to take in all the new information which was taking a while. Jackson turns the radio on, probably to fill all the silence."I'm sorry I interrupted you talking with your mum." He says over the radio, I look away from the window to him. "I know you two hadn't spoken in a long while." He continues still looking at the road, I shake my head looking back out of the window."It's okay, you tried to hold whatever meeting she was having off and anyway, I don't really want to talk with her right now." I sigh leaning my head against the window, my dad is out there somehow, and it doesn't seem like anyone is doing anything."She didn't forget about you Ally, she speaks about you all the time, I've probably seen thousands of photos of you my two years being here." He tells me with a smile, I look over at him for a second confused, she was never home so I don't get how she's got photos. Before I could question him, we pull up at a huge house, it was sort of hidden near a bunch of trees, but it looked rather expensive. Wait my mum lives here?! She must get paid real good money. Once we stop, I get out the car just staring at the house, so this has been where my mum has been hiding, not a bad place to hide out in. Jackson walks ahead unlocking the door, I look around at the little street before following him into the house where he closes and locks the door behind us."Your mum should be back in a few hours, but I'll be here until then." He says walking into a kitchen, I follow behind as we enter a massive kitchen. "Are you hungry?" He asks looking back at me while I stop at the counter, still staring around this huge house.I just shake my head looking out the huge windows outside, he smiles but opens the cupboard pulling food out. It looked like pasta and some kind of sauce, I walk into the living room area which the walls were just huge windows, what a view. I stand by the window just staring at the dark sky, hoping my dad was safe wherever he was.It was early the next morning, Jackson made me dinner last night but after I ate it, I just went to bed. I didn't want to face my mum after what she told me, I know it's not great to blame her for what's happened, but if she didn't do the work she does, dad would still be here. Or maybe if she was honest with him, he would have been prepared for something like this to happen.I walk out my new bedroom heading towards the stairs, as I continue down, I see someone in the kitchen. I slowly hover on the stairs to see my mum sat at the counter; she was drinking what looked like coffee reading what looked like a file. Once I reach the bottom she looks up, closing the file smiling at me. I don't send her one back but instead look to the floor. "Good morning, I've made you some pancakes and there's orange juice in the fridge." She smiles taking another sip of her coffee, I still don't talk or move from my spot by the door. "I get it, you're mad at me for not being honest with you, but I had
We walk in silence for a few minutes, I was mesmerised by all the expensive looking houses on this street. They are the biggest houses I've probably ever seen in my life; these were not cheap is all I can say! Which begs the question, how much money does my mum actually make if she's able to afford a house here? Jackson was still searching the perimeter but was trying to be sneaky, I had my arm wrapped around his to make it seem like we were a couple. Which I love how many things are discussed with me before they happen, note the sarcasm. When I looked in the mirror to check my contacts it kind of made me sad, I looked nothing like me at all. My hair is a different style, length and colour, heck my eyes are even a different colour! The only thing I could keep the same was my clothes, but everything else was changed. I hope and pray that this whole pretending I'm someone else thing isn't for too long, for many reasons. The first, obviously because I want my dad to be home safe but a
We walk into a spare office in the house to have our talk, Jackson told me the living room would be more comfortable to have the talk, but I wasn't born yesterday. As I said before there was only one door leading to the kitchen and living room, if I open the door to get to the living room that would also lead to the kitchen. He's going to have to do better than that to fool me. "Look at the weather today, that's England for you right?" He asks taking a seat at the desk, but once again I knew what he was trying to do. "Enough with the distractions, the sooner we have this talk the sooner you get to gain access to the kitchen." I say sitting the opposite side of the desk, he sighs knowing he wasn't gonna pull the wool over my eyes. "I need to know everything you know about Mario and my dad." I tell him on the edge of the seat, he looks at me confused and a little shocked. "How do you know his name?" He asks looking at me with a raised eyebrow, has he really forgotten that he said his
In no time we arrive at my mum's work, I'm still unsure what this place is even called so we'll just go with mum's work. The door to the underground garage was already open, we must have raced in at about 100mph, honestly, I don't know what the big rush was for. Once inside he slams on the breaks, the loud screeching sound of the cars tyres echos through the garage, lucky I was wearing a seatbelt! Jackson wastes no time getting out the car dragging me with him, I turn back to the car which was literally in the middle of the parking garage, that can't be legal! Last time, we went through the door, which was closest to the garage but this time, he pulls me around a corner and up a flight of stairs. "Jackson, what the heck is going on?" I ask as we reach the very top, I was nearly out of breath from running up the stairs that quickly, I don't do sports! "Your mother will explain everything to you." He tells me as we reach a door, he swipes a card from out of his pocket causing the doo
Well as you're aware, our organisation deals with some pretty bad people." Reece starts to explain while still leaning on the filing cabinet, isn't he afraid that he's going to break that or something? "Mario definitely fits that category." He says shaking his head looking down at the ground, that’s all anyone ever says when they talk about this Mario dude. “And you guys are sure that this Mario man, is the one that has my dad?” I ask looking at each of them, I didn’t want to undermine them, but they have to be sure they’re not barking up the wrong tree. “We are certain it’s Mario that has your dad, not only did he ring me right after your dad was kidnapped but…. he had a photo of your dad sent over as proof.” My mum said which makes my heart sink, I knew this wasn’t a cute artsy photo of my dad sitting on a tree branch hitting the peace sign, but something bad. “I know this is a stupid question, was dad, okay?” I ask looking up at her as I asked, this causes her to sigh taking a s
Jackson and I soon arrive back at my mother's house, we didn’t really talk much after I said I never do what I’m told. I could just see he wanted to ask me what I meant, but he also didn’t want to hear the answer at the same time. Jackson was the first one to walk in the house but has to stop and look at me with a smile once he reaches the entrance to the kitchen and living room. At first, I was a little confused, but I soon remember that I had locked the door just before we left. I walk over and easily unlock the door, while he just looks at me dumbfound. “One of my many hidden talents.” I smile opening up the door, he shakes his head walking into the kitchen probably to get food. “I do have many talents which aren’t being put to use just sitting around.” I say taking a seat at the kitchen counter, this does cause him to freeze whilst looking in the fridge. “Your mum was serious Ally; she doesn’t want you involving yourself in this case.” He sighs taking out some yogurt, I haven’t
Jackson and I talk for hours going over my plan, the first thing we needed to get hold of was all the files that my mum and her team have on this Mario dude. Then we’ll be able to have the same information that they have, which will make it a level playing field. I told him my plan which at first, he didn’t like and said there were far too many things that could go wrong. So, I asked him, what his alternative idea was but he didn’t have one, so in the end we went with my plan. I can just hear all of you asking me, what the heck is this plan?! Well, every morning, Jackson has to go into the office to sign things to say he will be with me all day. I have no idea why that’s a thing, apparently, he has no idea either! But anyway, while he’s in there he’s going to talk his way into the building more and head to the filing cabinet that Reece kept leaning against. Now I’m thinking about it, could that be why he was so insistent on standing right up against it? Jackson will take a photo of
After we both were finished breakfast, Jackson managing to fit three portions while I was still eating my own. We were soon both sat in my mother's office, which he made sure was locked just in case someone tries to enter the house when his guard was down. “So how did you manage to get all of these files, you said it would be hard?” I ask as he locks the office door behind us, in an event of a fire that wouldn’t be very safe! “It went easier than I first expected, all of the systems are down at the office as maintenance are updating them. That gave me the opportunity to go into the building so I could sign in on paper, I acted as though I was looking for the toilet when really, I went into your mother's office and took a picture of every document on Mario that I could find.” He explains whilst pulling his phone out and handing it over to me, I begin to scroll through all of his many photos of documents. “You guys have all this information on this dude and you’re still not closer to
