“You’re so tall?” One person questions.
“I don’t believe you’re special,” someone else says.
“I can finally talk to you,” I hear Jordan say and Nina turns to look where we last saw him. He smiles at us and I force a growl through Nina.
“Can we talk please?” he asks. Nina turns back to face everyone before shifting back.
The shift forcing me forward and back in control. I start to panic when I realise I’m naked in front of everyone again. I suddenly feel a towel around me and notice Jordan covering me. I shrug him away but Nina thanks him.
“Alright everyone, today we have initiated four new pack members, they are only junior members of the pack. Which means they only do junior member things such as training and participating in pack runs. I do not want to see them on boarder patrols or taking charge of anything. They are not full pack members until they turn eighteen, I sh
After Lani and Vanessa left I headed back upstairs. Walking into my room something felt off.“Reign was in here,” Nina says sniffing the room. She takes control and I watch as she follows the scent to the bed. She slides her hand under the pillow and pulls out a letter.“Lock the door,” I tell her and she runs over closing the door and locking it before jumping back on the bed.“What does it say?” I ask.She opens the letter and I push against the veil wanting to read what it says.‘Dearest Cassidy,I’m sorry Quintin and I had to leave so suddenly. I felt that it was no longer safe for us to be here. We have gone to find the forth Elemental. With the hunters close by we can’t risk being vulnerable. Please take care of my brother.See you soon,R’“She left to find the forth?” Nina questions.“What does she know about the hunters t
Jordan POVI knew Cass was mad at me but I had decided to just let it run its course. She would forgive me eventually. I mean she had to right? We were living in the same house after all. She couldn’t really escape me. I tried to talk to her during dinner but she kept ignoring me. Nina was ignoring Koray too and it was driving him crazy. After dinner she raced back upstairs and I did the dishes. Dad had left to go talk with Samuels about Reign. He'd be mad once he found out I helped her escape. I couldn’t let my sister basically rot in a jail. I knew she had done some shitty stuff but she was still my sister. After I finished the dishes I head upstairs and shower. Standing under the water I felt myself relaxing. The hot water relaxing my muscles. I wash my body and hair before rinsing off and getting out.Drying off I throw on some sweatpants and sigh. I decide to do a bit of homework. After about an hour of homework I turn on my gam
My eyes flash open. It’s dark. I can barely make out more than five metres in front of me. I stand, feeling the cool air wash over me, a nice light breeze blowing through the trees. It’s quiet. The only sounds I hear are my heart beating rapidly in my chest and the trees rustling in the wind. I don’t even hear any animals. Strange. I must be deep in the woods. I take a step forward, feeling the forest floor crunch beneath my feet.Where are my shoes? I think to myself. Looking down I notice I’m completely naked. That explains the goosebumps running down my spine. Cuts covering my body but from what? I look at my hands as they start to tremble. Both of my wrists covered in a think bruise. Chained up? I wonder. I gently touch the bruise surrounding my left wrist.“Ouch!” I wince out loud, hissing through my teeth. I turn my right hand over, noticing a mark carved into my palm. A wave of fear washes over me.
Lunch time, finally, I think to myself as I walk to my locker. English was such a drag, listening to Mrs Grant talk was like listening to nails scraping across a chalkboard; I shudder at the thought.“Hey Cass” I hear a males voice shout from behind me. I turn to see Byron running up to me.“Hey Byron, how was your weekend?” I ask as he catches up to me and we turn, walking to my locker together.“Great actually. Went camping by the lake with my folks and let Chase out for a run. He loves the lake.” I laugh. Chase was Byron’s wolf. They both had dark brown hair with caramel eyes. Byron was tall and he was cute in that effortless kind of way that made girls swoon when he smiled. “So, what about you? What did you get up to?” he questions.“Not much, just chores and homework. We have that group assignment coming up next week for Maths.” I remind him, knowing he has forgotten again des
“WHAT!” I yell, panicked I look for my dad who has now vanished from the room. How could he let me be sacrificed?!“Don’t be alarmed, it’s for a good cause. We have decided to start a new tradition, honouring the Moon Goddess and the other spirits of the land and sky. It’s a great honour.” Alpha explains in a calm voice sounding very sure of himself.“What will the sacrifice achieve Alpha?” Beta Samuels asks pulling out a very large knife. I gulp as I stare at the knife. My panic evident on my face.“We hope the sacrifice will please the Moon Goddess and in return she will bless our pack with protection.”“Are we not already well protected Alpha?” Another woman’s voice speaks from behind me. I turn to see it’s one of the pack trainers. “We are. However, one can never be TOO well protected.” His voice lifting at the end. Suddenly I hear laugh
Jordan POVThe girls gossip to each other while we wait for dad to finish his goodbyes. I was always bored after pack meetings because he never stops talking to everyone. ‘The people’s Alpha’ they called him. Everyone considered him more of a friend than an Alpha.I watch my interim mate as she fiddles with a hair tie around her wrist. Something was off with Cassidy. She was worried about something, but I’m not sure what. I never noticed how cute she was before. Her dark olive skin had a glow about it that was hard to explain. Chesnutt waves ran down her back just touching the floor where she sat. She looks over at me and smiles, dimples slightly forming as she does, but the smile doesn’t quite reach her chocolate eyes.“You, okay?” I mouth to her and she nods once before calling my dad over.Dad hands me the keys and tells me to take Cass back to our place until they can find her parents. It wasn
Cassidy POVI wake to the sun shining in my eyes from the open window. I felt exhausted from tossing and turning all night. I open y eyes to see Jordan watching me before he smiles.“Morning,” he says. He pulls my hand off his chest. I didn’t even realise I was laying across him. Getting up he walks to the bathroom closing the door behind him. I roll onto my back relaxing into the soft mattress. It was like laying on a cloud, no wonder he always looked well-rested.“Dad will be back this afternoon, he’s gone to meet with neighbouring pack Alpha’s about your parents,” Jordan yells out from the bathroom. I sit up suddenly, forgetting my parents were missing for a split second. Oh God. I jump out of bed and rush out of the bedroom down the hall to Reigns room.I grab my clothes, heading to the bathroom I strip off and jump in the shower. Turning the taps on I hear a soft knock at the door. I
Jordan POV“I’m sorry, dad just told me hunters have been spotted near the house. He wants me to keep you safe.” I tell Cassidy. She looks scared.“Why are there hunters on pack land and why are they near the packhouse?” she asks.“I don’t know. Dad didn’t say but we need to stay in here until he says it’s safe.” I hug her, feeling her calm at my touch. Maybe I could love her, I thought to myself.“You could if you tried,” Koray says, enjoying her touch just as much as I was. “She smells pretty, and she’s soft. Vanessa wasn’t soft.”“Vanessa was a way to kill time, I was glad dad told me to dump her,” I reply to him. Cassidy pulls out of the hug and goes to sit on my bed.“Can we talk?” she asks.“About your parents?” I reply as I make my way over to the bed. She nods as I sit do
