CELESTIA’S POINT OF VIEW

Did he just mention Robinson? Like the Robinson’s we all knew? They were among the most if not the most wealthy and powerful family in the city. Pa Robinson himself had two sons and they were both successful with heirs each to carry on their legacy. I knew he was some big shot the previous night with his appearance and his car model but never did I once imagine he could be one of the Robinson’s.

“Robinson? The same popular Pa Robinson with companies all over the city and beyond?” My grandfather asked him.

“Yes sir, that is my grandfather. His younger son, Martins Robinson is my father.” He explained.

“Wow, what an august visitor we have here then. But how did you two come about to be friends…?”

I interjected my grandfather quickly before they began drilling him and more importantly, I was already late for work.

“Errm… Thomas? Can we leave now? My supervisor is a very strict one and I do not want to be on her bad side today again.” I pleaded and went over to him, pulled him up and tried to drag him out of the house.

“I will come back to properly see you sir and ma.” He said and bowed. I caught the look on their faces and I knew they would not let me be when I returned from work that day. I did not know why he came around to pick me for work as he did not call me the previous night, now, my mother and grandfather would think we had something serious already going on.

“Okay, my son.” My grandfather responded.

I picked my bag ready to step out but my mother’s voice stopped me in tracks.

“Will you not eat before leaving or should I pack some for you? Remember you did not eat last night?” She said.

“No mummy, I am good. I will get something to eat at work. Bye, grandpa, bye.” I turned to grandpa and gave him a brief hug as I stepped out with Thomas.

I practically dragged him to the car.

“Why are you here?” I asked blocking the door to the driver’s seat with my arms folded on my chest.

“I honestly do not know. I just could not sleep overnight. The thoughts of you clouded my mind and our bond kept calling to me. I just wanted to see you again and as soon as possible. Did you not feel same way?” He stepped forward and held one of my hands. I blushed and got completely lost in his eyes as I looked up to see his brown eyes staring right down at me as if it was going to pierce my soul. I coughed and looked away.

“I… ugh… I felt the same way but I expected that you call me but you did not only to shock me and my family with your presence. Now, they would not stop disturbing me about you because they have been longing to meet my man- or any man at that.” I said pouting and still looking away.

“Well, that is not a problem, I can make myself available for any questions they may have about us.” He said convincingly with smile. That is it. His smile. It was so charming that it could melt an iron.

I blushed.

“Let us be on our way as I do not want to be late for work and be on the bad side of my supervisor again today.” I said to break free from the hold he was already having on me that moment. I rushed to the passenger’s seat and we zoomed off. The ride to work that morning was the most pleasant and enjoyable ride I had ever had.

Behind his strict and masculine appearance, he was such a sweet soul and very interesting to converse with. We discussed about a lot of things on the way. We soon got to my place of work.

“O-kay! Here we are, do you mind having lunch with me this afternoon?” He asked but who would reject such offer honestly? I definitely would not be able to have any decent meal at work and not even my usual coffee as I would be too shy to walk into the cafe instead of my company building while he was watching.

“Well, let us see how my schedule would be if I would be available for a lunch date.” I replied and alighted from the car.

“Bye.” I waved at him smiling as I walked into the building and as expected, he drove off only after I had gone in.

“Hehehehe goooood morning.” I knew that sarcastic greeting would be coming from no other person than my nosy co-worker, Grace. She must have seen me alight from Thomas car.

“Good morning. What is with this your mood this morning.” I responded acting oblivious and I carefully placed my bag on the table at one end.

“So someone reconciled with the man they said disrespected them yesterday now acting all loved up this morning at work. Wow.”

For goodness sake! Grace! I rolled my eyes and twirled my chair around to face her.

“And who could that someone be, Miss Grace?” I asked sarcastically.

She raised her two palms to my eyes level pointing at me.

“But you did not tell me he was this handsome yesterday?” She said with glee in her voice.

How was she able to see that from the building? Thomas did not even get out of the car.

I squeezed my forehead and closed my eyes.

“First of all, that was not the man I told you about yesterday. When I got home, my grandpa informed me about a particular blind date they had set for me and that I must go. The idiot stood me up and I fell into hoodlums trap while I was trying to find means back home…”

“Huh?” She gasped.

“Yes, and that was the man that rescued me from them. Secondly, nobody is loved up here so easy with all that.” I explained.

“So he is your knight in shining Mercedes?” She teased. I smacked her playfully.

“And what is going on here?!” Came a thunderous voice while we were chitchatting.

We turned around instantly to see my supervisor, Miss Bella standing by the door looking so furious. I wonder why she was never in a good mood but always out to punish workers under her especially me, as an intern, she was way too strict with me. Grace scoured away to her seat instantly.

“Is this what you do on days you did not come to work late? You think you could play around just because you are an intern right?”

I stood up and bowed my head, “No ma, I am sorry.” I apologized.

“No lunch for you today! Better follow me to get some of the files from yesterday, they were not properly done and I did not understand some things even in the other ones! If you think you are not up to task here, just quit!” She thundered.

“But ma, I…” I could not even finish my sentence before she stormed out of the office. I quickly followed her. She complained about almost everything I submitted and the files were not even needed urgently. I wondered what I ever did to her to warrant such maltreatment each time.

I returned to the office with another heap of files.

I slumped into my chair and got to work. Grace also helped me with some then it hit me. The lunch!

CELESTIA’S MOTHER’S FIRST PERSON POINT OF VIEW

I was in the kitchen when I heard grandpa open the door that led outside. That was unusual because he usually just lied down to wait for Celestia come out of her room and watch her get ready for work in the living. I wondered what he wanted to get outside that early morning.

He came in shortly after to call me out to see whatever it was he saw that caught his attention. Thankfully, the food was just ready in time. I switched off the gas then followed him.

There was a black expensive looking car parked in front of our gate. Our estate was an average one so it would be unusual for the car to belong to anyone in the neighborhood.

We moved closer to the car and a young man came out of it. He was handsome and looked like a model we saw in those movies. He bowed and smiled at us.

“Good morning sir, good morning ma.” He greeted.

“Good morning” we greeted in unison giving him a questioning look as to why he was parked in front of our gate. By this time, people were already staring. I would not blame them as such car did not usually come around our area.

“I am Thomas, your daughter’s friend. I brought her home last night and wanted to check on her if she is okay this morning and probably take her to her workplace if she was ready.” He explained himself. I could not remember the car from the previous night as it was really dark but I got relieved now that it was not anything serious.

“Celestia’s friend? Wow, she had never introduced any male friend to us before. You are most welcome my son. Let us go in to avoid the prying eyes of our neighbors.” Grandpa said jokingly as he led him into the house.
