Alpha Richard Brown’s stance
“You’re the cause of all this shit, Ray. You’re the one who forced me to be here!” I seethe, venting on my Beta and best friend, Raymond. I’m back at our table, away from all the drama.
“How is this my fault? All I did was accept the invitation to be here,” he responds. “I didn’t set her up as your mate.”
“The moon goddess was certainly behind herself when she did this pair up. Did you get a good look at the girl?”
“I did.”
“And would it make any sense that a weak, useless, and disgusting girl like her would be my mate? My ride or die?”
“Uh, I don’t know, man. I can’t say the moon goddess made a mistake. That would be blasphemy,” Raymond winces. “However, she has the body and what it takes to be your Luna.”
“Blasphemy or not, I don’t care. The moon goddess pulled a fast one on me tonight, and I’m calling her out for it. Pairing me up with a girl like that is madness,” I say. “I rule a fucking empire, man. What help will she give as my Luna when she can’t even meet my gaze? The way she trembles in fear makes her seem like an Omega. I still can’t believe her father is the Beta of this pack.”
“You’ve said enough, man. Come on, give the girl a break," Ray states. “And if you look at it from a less judgmental perspective, she wouldn’t be a bad Luna for you.”
“What did you just say?”
“For real, man. So what if she’s without a wolf? There must be other good traits about her, and you’ll only know if you try to find them out. The moon goddess is never wrong in her pairings. We must take that leap of faith and trust it will be worth it."
“A leap of faith, my ass. I’ll break my neck if I take a leap of faith with that girl. There’s no way I would have endured a day without rejecting her.”
“Without even trying to get to know her? Wow! OK, I understand. But do you have to humiliate her the way you did?” he asks. “It would have been better if you had rejected her secretly and saved her some face. Now she’s gonna be a laughingstock among her peers.”
“I couldn’t give a flying fuck if the whole world blasted her for the humiliation I put her through,” I say coldly.
“Now that makes you obnoxious, rude, brutal, and proud,” Ray snorts.
“All that?” I reply in surprise. “Dude, what’s wrong with you? Why are you taking that girl’s side instead of mine?”
“I’m not taking sides here, Richard,” he denies with both hands in the air.
“It seems to me like you are.”
“I’m not responsible for how you choose to see things. I’m just saying it as it is. Humiliating her and her family like that was wrong. And you know the truth hurts, so deal with it. But don’t forget, you were wrong,” Ray states flatly and walks out on me.
“Ray!” I call out, but he doesn’t turn around. He disappears into the crowd and chats with other Betas from different packs.
The party is over in an hour, and we have to leave. Our drive back to the pack is dreadful, as we ignore each other. We refuse to acknowledge each other’s presence. He wants me to admit that I was wrong, but I’m not going to admit shit. Because I wasn’t, and Raymond’s got to understand that.
Raymond is my childhood friend and my best friend. After the deaths of my father, the former Alpha of the Black Claw Pack, and his Beta, Ray’s father, I became the Alpha of the pack, and Ray automatically became my Beta. We have our disagreements and sometimes annoy each other. However, I know he always has my back, and I have his.
“Hey, are you sure you’re not going to talk to me?" I demand, breaking the silence between us. Ray ignores me and pretends to sleep. “Aren’t you the one I’m talking to?”
“What do you want?” he asks.
“I want you to talk to me,” I respond. “Why are you acting cold towards me?”
“Why won’t I, Richard? When you refuse to listen to me.”
“Is it because of that she wolf?”
“That she-wolf is your mate, man. Your Luna!" he shouts. He looks at me with a mix of anger. How can he address her as my mate? I should have killed her right there to end my suffering. The moon goddess humiliates me by mating me with a lowly she-wolf like her.
I glance at Ray, who is staring at me as if I’m his enemy. “What the heck!”
“Enough,” he mutters. “We should stop talking about this.”
“You’re my beta and my best friend. You should have the pack and people in mind. How can I accept a girl who won’t contribute anything to my kingdom? She can only be a burden, and I won’t accept that."
“This is insane, Rich. Absolutely insane," he growls. “The goddess is never wrong.”
“Not this time, Ray. She is completely wrong to pair a strong wolf like me with her. I am the king. You freaking forced me to attend this ridiculous gathering."
He hisses. “You should not have come.”
“You know I don’t want to come,” I hiss. If not because he is eager to meet his mate. He thinks he is gonna find his mate here, which is why I follow him, not knowing that I will be faced with humiliation. I will never forgive her. I will kill her the next time I meet her.
Broken bond.Jane.Rejecting me was not enough for my so-called mate; he went as far as humiliating my mother and me. What kind of mate is that? Why does it have to be him among everyone else at the party?I never said I wanted a dominating alpha as my mate. A beta would have been enough for me, or even a gamma or an omega. I don’t care. All I ask for is a mate who will love me. But I got hell instead, and now it’s burning up my heart into flames.I wish I had a wolf and was stronger than him; then I wouldn’t feel as weak as I do right now, nor would I lock myself inside my room, too afraid to step outside. I’m emotionally drained, and I have lost my will to live. After what happened tonight, I’m too ashamed of myself right now to face anyone. All I want to do is cry myself to sleep. I hear a knock on my door.“Jane, please open this door,” my mother calls from outside my room. She’s been knocking since we returned, but I just can’t bring myself to open it. “Jane, please open this damn
Jane. The next day, Mother calls her sister Karen to tell her about me and my situation. I pray she accepts me to come live with her.“How is it, mother?" I ask eagerly.“She accepts,” she smiles. I can tell she isn’t happy. “I’m sorry, mother.”She pulls me into a hug. We are both silent as she caresses my hair. “You don’t have to say sorry. They bully you. It’s time to leave this horrible park.”“Thank you, mother.”“I will be right back, darling.” I’m packing my bag when my mother walks into my room.“Hi, baby, are you done packing your bags?” She asks, perching her butt on my bed.“Almost, Mother,” I reply.“I hope you’re not forgetting anything.”“No, mother. I’m not.” I finish stuffing my briefcase and zip-tie it up.“Ready?” She beams at me.“Yes, Mother. Everything is set. I am ready to leave this pack. I can’t wait to leave and start a new life somewhere else,” I tell her.“Good. I have mind-linked your aunt, my sister, about your arrival, and she is already anticipating meeti
Hitting the club. Jane’s stance. “Jane, let’s go to the mall and then hit the club,” she suggests. “I don’t want you to feel down after sharing your story about your mate.” “I don’t feel like going, Amira.” “No, you need to cheer up, darling,” she says. “Come on. Let hit the mall.” “Sure, I’m up for it,” I reply. “Let’s go.” We get ready, and she drives us to the mall. Ella tags along. Ella is Amira’s friend who later becomes my friend. She is the Beta’s daughter in the pack. “I want that sexy dress,” Ella exclaims, pointing to a short, hot dress. “I need to try this on. Can you bring it down?” She asks the shop attendant to check if it’s available in her size. “Yes, ma’am,” the shop attendant replies, bringing down the gown. Ella takes it from her and rushes into the dressing room. “Wow, you look amazing.” I gasp in admiration when she steps out of the dressing room. I wouldn’t look that beautiful even if I had the dress on. “Really?” she gushes. “Do I look smoking hot in i
Meeting her again.Alpha Richard Brown’s Point of ViewEver since I met that useless mate of mine, she has never once left my mind. I can’t say I like that she affects me. I hate her more for not being able to accept the rejection. Why is the moon goddess so wicked to me? Why was she my fated mate? I hate everything about her. I need her to accept my rejection, or I will be stuck with her forever. I won’t be able to mark or mate with another strong she-wolf worthy of being my Luna.I need a strong she-wolf who will rule beside me. I never listened to my nagging wolf, Parker, when he argued with me to accept that girl as our mate. He likes her already, and I find that even more pathetic.‘We both know that without me, you are nothing,’ Parker says through the mind link. ‘You know, I am the reason everyone fears you. I am strong already. I can protect our mate.’‘Parker, can you protect her forever?’ I ask. ‘Can you always protect her from my enemies worldwide?’‘I don’t care. I want her
JaneI’m shocked when I meet my rejected mate on the dance floor. Do I look attractive to him now? Does he want me now? If yes, I’ll make him beg me before I can accept him back.“What the fuck are you doing here?" he roars when he realizes the girl he’s about to hit on is his rejected mate. His gaze disappoints me, shattering my hope once again. I choose to ignore his presence, not acknowledge him. He’s not my Alpha. But this doesn’t sit well with him, a proud Alpha who is used to being acknowledged. He roars and begins dragging me to a place only the goddess knows.“Let go of me!” I yell, but he doesn’t listen to me. When we reach a silent place, he opens the door, pushes me inside, and slams it shut.“Now, tell me, why are you here dressed like this?" He demands, his eyes red with anger. I’m taken aback by his sudden outburst. Didn’t he reject me for being weak? He roars, releasing his alpha aura, as if trying to intimidate me. But his alpha aura has never had any effect on me.Who
Jane.“What is wrong, Jane?” Amira inquires. “I have noticed you ever since we left the club. You have been unhappy and moody. What is the matter?”“I’m fine,” I respond. “Don’t bother yourself.”“No, please don’t tell me that. I won’t take that from you,” she insists. “Tell me what is wrong, please.”“Okay, could you believe me if I told you I saw my supposed mate, the one who rejected me? I met my mate at the club, and you know what? He tried to humiliate me again.”“Oh my god, what kind of man is this, jerk?” she asks. “What the hell does he want from you again? I wish I were beside you. I could have stood by you and given him the worst treatment he will never be able to forget in his lifetime. Love, I am sorry.”“Don’t apologize, darling. I already put him in his place. I gave him a good slap. He never saw it coming," I tell her, feeling satisfied with what I did.“Wow! I am rooting for you, girl. You are so strong,” she says. “You are such a bad girl, but he deserves even more tha
Jane.I look up and stare at his face. The fierce warrior glares at me. He’s giving out a murderous stare. I know he’s only trying to frighten me, but I don’t fucking care. I’m not scared. I will fight with him.“We’re here to witness the fight between Jane and our best warrior, John. We’re here to see the strongest between them,” the Alpha announces. Everyone cheers, filling the air with their witty cheers.“Let the fight begin,” he declares openly.“Little girl, I’ll go soft on you. You don’t have to give your all in the battle,” the warrior affirms.“Don’t worry about me; give it your all. I would appreciate that.” I smile.“OK. Good luck,” he says, and the fight begins between us. The Alpha tells us not to fight in our form since I have no wolf. The warrior is so strong. I clamp my teeth together in pain. When his punch drops arduously on my stomach, it hurts like hell. I stand up and continue fighting without giving up.I’ll never give up. I’m not a loser. He keeps hitting me with
Jane’s stanceI need to tell my mom about my new achievement. We haven’t spoken in a long time, and I feel terrible. I pick up my phone to dial her number. She picks up on the third ring.“Hello, Mom. How are you?" I ask as she answers her call. It has been a while since I last heard my dear mother’s voice.“I’m fine, my darling daughter. How are you doing over there?”I know she’s worried about me and misses me a lot. She must be lonely because I’m her best friend. I imagine her with a lot of wrinkles by now, but I know that’s not accurate. She is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met.“I’m fine, mom, and how’s dad?”“Oh, your dad? He’s doing well. He’s always busy with pack affairs. There’s no time for me,” she responds. “I’m lonely here without my baby. Mother misses you a lot, my sugar pie.”“I miss you too, Mom, and I have good news for you.”“What good news is that, daughter?” she inquires. “Be fast to spill everything out.”I can feel her happiness over the phone.“Mo
