Chapter 3

Once we got home and were alone, I turned to Ambrosia. “Are you ok?” I never got to ask her during all the commotion, and the looming apocalypse. “Yes, Rowen. I’m fine. I feel fine.” She said, lifting her crop shirt so I could see her perfect porcelain skin underneath.

I softly ran my fingers over the spot where she had once been impaled. Not a scar in sight, just a lot of blood. “I have so many questions, but I don’t want to overwhelm you.” I said. “I know, I have so much to tell you. Being in Pandora’s Box for three months was really insane.” She said.

My eyes widened. “Wait, did you say 3 months? You were gone for 3 months?” I said, shock filling my face. “Yea? How long has it been here?” She asked. “It’s only been 3 weeks here. So with the time difference, every week for us was a month for you. I can’t believe you were gone for that long.” I said.

“I was starting to think I was going to have to stay there, forever.” She said, with her head down. I could tell it was really affecting her. I pulled her into my arms and held her tightly, trying to reassure her that I never would have left her there forever.

“Go shower, doll. We can talk when everyone gets here.” I said. She pulled away and nodded to me, then wrapped her arms around me again.

“Thank you... You sacrificed the entire world to save me. You didn’t even flinch. I can’t ever repay you for my life.” She said, and then she pulled away, wiping her tears as she turned and walked upstairs, heading towards the shower.

I materialized to my library and poured myself a glass of brandy, turning it rose gold as I paced. “Three months, she was gone for three months. I can’t even fathom how she was feeling being gone for that long. And with those fucking Angels.” I said to Viper.

I was mostly ranting, but he was a good listener. “Dominik better not have laid a fucking finger on her, or so help me.” I snarled to my Wolf.

I knew Ambrosia though, and she wasn’t the type to sleep around. We hadn’t even slept together yet, she was definitely the opposite of me. And It made me wonder how she would fare when me and Ramses were ready to tag team her.

“Shit, you can’t be thinking about sex right now, are you kidding me?” Viper howled. “What, why can’t I?” I laughed.

“Well I mean you can, but the poor girl is probably traumatized, and who knows what happened to her over there. I mean she was with the Angels... The fucking Archangel to be exact…You know the one who went rogue and separated his good side and bad side. Then together they wreaked havoc on earth. This is why they got put into Pandora’s Box, I'm sure. It was strange when they disappeared so it makes sense now… But you noticed who she was with, who was holding her hostage? The good side. You’re going to tell me that she didn’t spend the entire three months there living with those two psychos and didn’t get even kind of close to the good side?” Viper explained.

“No way, I don’t even want to think about it. Just imagining her in his arms makes my blood boil.” I growled, downing the rest of my brandy and pouring myself another glass immediately.

Jealousy was such a strange emotion. Not that I never felt it, because I was sure feeling it right now… But it was such a waste of emotion really. There are just some people I don’t like to share my things with… Rogue Archangels being one of them, or two of them in this case.

I was torn from my tantrum when I could hear Ambrosia in the shower, she was crying. I walked from my library into her room. I didn’t want to intrude on her but I was worried. I couldn’t imagine what she had to go through over there, Plus, Human emotions are so strange. Sometimes they cry when they are happy, but I had a feeling that this was not the case. I walked up to the bathroom door that she had left open, and stood with my back against the doorframe. “Ambrosia, doll. Are you ok?” I said softly.

“Y-yes, I’m o-ok.” She said, through sniffles. “Why are you crying, doll?” I asked. “I-I don’t even really know.” She stammered and then I heard her sliding against the glass in the shower.

I turned to look and see if she was ok. Through the steamy glass I could barely make out her small frame sitting on the shower floor. She had her back against the glass and her head in her knees, as her sobs filled the room.

She was suffering, and as uncomfortable as it might make her, I stepped into the room, opened the shower enclosure and stepped inside. Sliding myself down next to her. “Come here, doll.” I said, pulling her into my arms.

I made sure she stayed as covered as possible. I knew she would kill me if I peeked, so I really tried not to. She looked up at me, locking eyes. “Why are you wearing your clothes still?” She said with a little bit of a laugh.

I just laughed. “I was trying to make you more comfortable. I thought it might be better if I wasn’t… Well, you know…” I said.

She just shook her head, placed it back on my chest and laughed while crying at the same time. I snapped and removed all my clothes except a pair of shorts.

“There, is that better?” I asked. She nodded her head yes, but never lifted it from my chest. I just held her while she cried, running my hands through her hair as the hot water washed over us.

I don’t even know how long it had been until she finally stopped crying. She sat up, covering her bare chest with her arms the best she could. She was curvy in that aspect so it was challenging.

I snapped and put her in a rose gold bikini, covering the areas I knew she wouldn't want me to see. She looked down and then just laughed.

“Thank you. You know, being over there was so much different than here. The food was strange, the landscape was strange, albeit beautiful though… The people were different, the monsters were terrifying. I just can't quit thinking about Dominik and Andres opening Pandora’s Box and releasing all those creatures here.” She explained.

I stiffened at the mention of Dominiks name, hopefully she didn’t notice. I had no idea what creatures she was talking about.

In fact, I didn’t even know Pandora’s Box was a place. I mean, until recently I didn’t even know it existed. But to think of it as a realm like ours, baffled my mind.

“We will deal with the creatures, whatever they are.” I said. She just shook her head. “While I was there I stayed with a woman named Hilda. She never told me what type of creature she was. She seemed very old, like she had been around for a long, long, time. She reminded me of an old medicine woman in some ancient Indian tribe. She was soft spoken, and kind. She took me in, nursed me back to health… Which took six days, by the way, and made sure I was clothed and fed. She never made a fuss about me, and was there for me for the entire time. Never once asking when I was planning on leaving. She just took me in, as if she knew I had nowhere to go otherwise.” She said.

“Wait, you were sick when you got there?” I asked, feeling a little more stressed than I previously was. “Yes. Dominik called it trans dimensional travel sickness? Being Human, it affects me a lot more than others. He said he was surprised I survived at all... I remember waking up in the hospital bed inside of Hilda’s home just long enough to throw up, barely eat something, and then pass out again. When I finally came to, for real, it had been six days… The first thing I wanted to do was get out of that house. I had been cooped up for so long in bed... I just wanted to be outside. It was night time and everyone was asleep, so I snuck out.” She said.

I laughed a little. “Sneaking out doesn’t seem like you, doll.” I said. “Well, you would never believe the beauty of that place at night. You would have snuck out too! Plants and trees that were not there during the day appeared, as if by magic. And everything was covered in bioluminescence. The neon colors, and glowing plants just made the scenery breathtaking. Not to mention, you could see multiple planets in the sky, all super close so they looked huge up there. But no moon, the place never had a moon while I was there. I was so entranced in the beauty of everything. I eventually found myself in a small clearing and I just decided to lie down in between the plants. I was careful not to touch things because I didn’t know if they would hurt me. Beautiful things are always dangerous… I don’t know how long I lay there, but I almost fell asleep. Dominik followed me that night. I was unaware of the creatures that lurked at night. He caught me before I fell asleep and said we should go. He helped me up, just in time for a Chimera to charge us. He saved my life, pulling me from its path, and I teleported us back to the house. Neither of us knew how I did it. And I never said a word about the amulet to anyone. It was hidden, and it wasn't like they were going to find it anyway. But to be safe I didn't say a word.” She explained.

I just sat there, intently listening to her story. I was baffled that she had a whole life over there, essentially. “Anyways, once we figured out that I had to be scared for my life before I could teleport, the twins wanted to try and see if I could hone in on the power. We snuck out every single night for three months and put ourselves in danger, hoping I could teleport us back to safety. I was able to… Every single time. But that’s the only time it worked… When I thought I was in real danger. The point of my story is, I have been face to face with every single creature in that realm, and they aren’t people, Rowen. They are legitimately monsters... Creatures we do not have here. No one is safe. They are huge, and fast. Full of teeth, and always hungry. I’m afraid of what havoc they will wreak here.” She said.
