CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

I'd never met this woman in my life.

She wore a red silk dress that matched the shoes, and a dark red fur coat. Her hair was long, black and pulled back in one neat slick, with bright blue eyes piercing through the neatly ruched curtains a slight fringe formed in front of her face.

Her eyebrows shot up into her hairline as she caught me staring at her. I could sense she didn't like me, and didn't care if her body language made it obvious. She had an austere demeanor and an air of authority that could choke anyone.

Her eyes skimmed me from head to toe. "My, aren't you a pretty little thing!" She murmured. "Even with that dreadful dress and the matted hair on your head, you could really stop male hearts."

I sat frozen, unable to say anything. I was in many ways speechless; surprised at how someone could be so beautiful. Her entire frame looked carved; and as she moved herself to one side, placing both hands on her waist, and raised an indifferent brow in a poise. I remained stiff.
