Remisnising

Ella went to the kitchen to get ready for dinner, when Gab appeared and surprised her with a hug.

" Whoah! Gab let me me go!"

" So my little sister finally all grown up doesn't welcome my hugs and kisses anymore. Oh my heart aches." he fake out a sad face but deep inside he was very glad that she is able to adjust with her life here,far from any problems and worries. 

"It's not that, you silly, I need to prepare for dinner and I am late already."

" No problem, I already told the cook  what to prepare. Sit down and talk to your poor brother who was worried because he can not contact your personal phone and today you are not here when we arrive. I expected you  to be running to meet your handsome and charming brother to be carried back to the house." he ussually teases her everytime they were together this is his way of keeping her happy to ease the pain of loosing their mother.

"I was checking on the horses for the tourist tomorrow. They will be here to take a look around the farm on horseback, so I went personally to the stable  to  the  in chatrge not to release Ginger and Black cause you might want to ride while you are here. " she was so animated on telling him what occured in the farm while he is away.

"Good, you still haven't answer what happened why I cannot contact you on your phone?"

"I lost it." she abruptly answered.

"The truth  my dear." he knows that no matter what, that phone was one of the most important possesions she own and she keep it always with her.

"I ah... I accidentally dropped it in a bucket of water, when I... ah... watering the plants the other day. " she said guiltilly.

Gab  study the expression on her face. "OK then, it's about time you replace it. It is very old and the model is obsolete."

" But it still working very well and I only use it personal calls, besides Mama gifted it to me on my fifteenth birthday."

 He noticed the sadness in her eyes when she recalled about their mother. " Tomorrow, you will have a new gadget and I will not take no for an answer my dear. You can keep your old phone, but use the new that I will give you, Egg face."

" Sure thing Humpty Dumbty!" They tease each other with their old nicknames. Ella run to escape to  the tickling her brother a punishment if ever their old nicknames was mention when they are fooling around. She was on her way to the door when she bump on a hard chest. she looked up and saw a pair of blue eyes staring back at her. "Oh no! it's him again!" she thought to herself, nervouslly she take a step  backwards only to loose her balance, she then reached for something to save her fall, but her hands landed on his neck as two pairs of strong arms catch her fall.

"Oh Dane, I want you to meet my sister Ella." Gab butted in as he surveys their position. Ella gave him a glare, while Dane release her gently.

"Ella this is my friend way back high school days. He will be staying here for a break. Be patient with her  Dane as she can be a handful sometimes." he warn his friend, teasing his sister.

"I know." he said and smiled at her. "We already met, but not properly introduced." He have a nice deep southern drawl that she finds very attractive she felt something that she cannot explain. She wanted to apologize to end her guilt but not in her brother's presence, so she prayed that she will find the perfect timing for this.

While waiting for dinner to be served the two friends  catch up with each other, while she stayed quiet and answers only when being asked. She observed  Dane as he seems to be  courteous ,nice and intelligent. Their topic landed on their youthful experiences the ' do you remember things' and falls into laughter where she ocasionally joins. Truly this two are bestfriends they may be 'out of touch but not out of mind'.

Later when Ella was getting ready to sleep, she thought that this may be the perfect time to go and apologize to Dane, she went to knock on his door but before her knuckles hit it, she heard him raised his voice he must be talking on the phone. While she cannot comprehend what he is saying, she understand that he must be real angry and whoever on the other side of the conversation must have an earfull of angry words. she changes her mind maybe this may not be the perfect timing after all, she might get into the line of fire and into deeper trouble. She returned to her room and prayed that perfect time will come sooner.
