MAX

I walked up to Klaus, my eyes scanning the training room as I searched for him. I had come to apologize for my tantrum earlier, but as I spotted him, my mind went blank. He was shirtless, his muscles rippling as he moved through his training routine. I felt my gaze lingering on his chest, my eyes tracing the lines of his abs.

"Max?" Klaus's voice cut through my haze, his tone laced with sarcasm. "You're staring." he said as I felt my throat take a huge gulp.

I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I snapped back to reality. "Oh, sorry," I muttered, trying to compose myself.

Klaus raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "What brings you here? I thought you were still pouting in your room."

I took a deep breath, trying to remember why I had come. "I wanted to apologize for earlier. I was out of line, and I'm sorry."

Klaus's expression softened, and he walked towards me, his eyes never leaving mine. "You were a bit of a brat, but I'm getting used to it, as it seems yo

MAX Yet again another brain signal test, this time being handled by River. I lay on the hospital bed, trying to calm my racing thoughts as River attached sensors to my head and wrists. He was running some special tests on my brain to measure my energy levels, and I was more than a little nervous."Okay, Max, just relax," River said, his voice soothing and calm. "This is going to be a piece of cake. Or, you know, a piece of pie. I'm more of a pie person myself."I couldn't help but laugh at his silly comment, and River smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "That's it, just relax. Let your mind wander to happy places."I took a deep breath, trying to do as he said. But my mind kept wandering back to the tests, and what they might show. River seemed to sense my nervousness, and he placed a gentle hand on my shoulder."Hey, Max, I've got an idea," he said. "Let's play a game. I'll tell you a story, and you just listen, okay?"I nodded, and River launched into a ridiculous tale about

NIKLAUS I was busy working on a project in the barracks when my comm ring beeped, signaling an incoming message. I glanced down to see Shane's name flashing on the screen. I hesitated for a moment before answering, tuning in from the ring to a holographic display on my wall, wondering what he wanted."Klaus," Shane's voice came through the ring, sounding anxious. "How's Max doing? Is she adjusting okay in Vortex?"I leaned back in my chair, trying to gauge Shane's intentions. "She's doing alright, I guess. It's been an adjustment for her, but she's a tough kid. She'll get through it."Shane's voice took on a pleading tone. "I want to see her, Klaus. I need to make sure she's okay. Can I come to Vortex? Or can she come to me? I just really need to see her."I shook my head negatively without even processing his request properly. "No, Shane. That's not possible. It's not safe."Shane's voice rose in protest. "But I have to see her! I have to make sure she's okay. You can't just keep he

HENRY I followed Arlo through the winding corridors of the Synod facility, my mind racing with questions. Where were we going? What was the purpose of this secret base? Arlo had been tight-lipped about our destination, only revealing that it was a facility that few people knew about. As we walked, I caught glimpses of heavily fortified doors and layers of security checkpoints. This was clearly a high-clearance area, and I began to feel a sense of excitement and trepidation. Finally, we arrived at a large metal door with a sign that read "Eclipse Facility". Arlo swiped his ID badge, and the door slid open with a hiss. Inside, I was greeted by a sleek, modern laboratory filled with rows of workstations and state-of-the-art equipment. At the center of the room, a large, cylindrical device hummed with energy. Arlo smiled, his eyes gleaming with pride. "Welcome to the Eclipse Facility, Henry. This is where we're working on the next generation of NX Chromazon technology." I followed h

HENRY I sat down with Shane, still trying to seek his advice on the same matter that had been weighing heavily on my mind. "Shane, I need to ask you something," I said, trying to phrase my question carefully as soon as he heard me he turned in bid to leave"Shane, please? it would be quick, I promise." I promised making him stay a bit."What's up, Henry?" Shane asked, his eyes now mixed with a bit of curiosity."If you found something big, something life-changing, would you take it?" I asked, studying his reaction.Shane leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. "That depends," he said slowly. "If it's for a good cause, something that could really make a difference in people's lives, then yeah, I'd take it. But if it's not, if it's just for personal gain or to hurt others, then no, I wouldn't touch it.... Considering the decisions you have been making lately, I am tempted to believe the latter."I nodded, taking his words to heart. Shane was a good person, someon

MCKENNA I sat at the head of the table, surveying the tense faces of my fellow Phoenix-5 members. We were gathered in our makeshift meeting room, a spacious and secure space deep within our Vortex base."Alright, let's get down to business," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral. "We all know that things have been getting increasingly difficult out there. Going outside to get supplies has become a serious risk, despite our best efforts to manufacture most of our own products."Wyatt nodded in agreement. "We've had a few close calls already. It's only a matter of time before Synod catches on to our location."Ezra spoke up, his voice firm. "That's why I have been suggesting us shutting down the program to help other NX-5'S. We can't keep putting ourselves and others at risk just to help a few people."I raised an eyebrow, surprised by Ezra's suggestion. "Why do you want to shut down the program, Ezra? We've been doing this for years, and it's made a real difference in people's lives.

SHANEI sat at my desk, my eyes scanning the sleek, computer screen in front of me. My mission was to get information about the experiments being conducted at Synod, but I knew that wouldn't be easy. I had to be careful, subtle, and discreet. As a new recruit, I had been given limited access to the Synod's computer system as well as everything happening underground. But I had always known that there was more to the system than met the eye. I had heard rumors around the office of secret files and hidden databases, and I was determined to find them.I started by browsing through the files that I had been given access to. They were mostly routine reports and memos, but I was hoping to stumble upon something that would give me a lead. As I scrolled through the documents, I noticed that some of them were encrypted. I made a mental note to try and crack the encryption later.Next, I decided to try and hack into the system. As an NX-1 my enhanced capacity and life long experience with comput

RIVER I was walking down the hallway, lost in thought, when suddenly I felt a jolt as I collided with someone. Apologetic, I turned to face the person I had bumped into, and my heart skipped a beat. She was stunning, around 5'2 with deep black eyes and dark skin with afro curly hair and her bright green eyes sparkled as she smiled at me. I felt like I had been punched in the gut, my breath caught in my throat."Oh, I'm so sorry," I stuttered, trying to regain my composure. "I wasn't watching where I was going."She laughed, a melodious sound that sent shivers down my spine. "It's okay, I wasn't either," she said, her eyes crinkling at the corners.I felt like a clumsy fool, but I couldn't help staring at her. She was wearing a medical coat with a bright yellow sundress, and her skin glowed with a warm, golden light eluding her dark skin."I'm River," I said, holding out my hand, trying to play it cool."Alice," she replied, her hand touching mine, sending a jolt of electricity throug

I was angry, hurt, and frustrated, and I didn't know how to process it all."Alice, I'm so glad I ran into you," I said, taking a deep breath. "I need to talk to someone about this, and I know I can trust you."Alice smiled and nodded, her eyes filled with concern. "Of course, Max. What's going on?"I took another deep breath, trying to calm myself down. "It's the safety program," I said, my voice shaking. "Phoenix-5 is shutting it down, and Klaus is blaming me for it."Alice's expression turned sympathetic. "Oh, Max, I'm so sorry. That must be really tough for you to deal with."I nodded, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes. "It's not just that," I said, my voice cracking. "It's that Klaus said some really hurtful things to me. He said that maybe we should just give me back to Synod, like I'm some kind of burden or something."Alice's eyes widened in shock. HENRY I sat in the dimly lit room, surrounded by the familiar faces of my colleagues. Cora was to my left, her expression serious as she began to brief Arlo on our findings from the earlier clean out."We've carried out the total clean out of the ground facility ," she said, her voice steady. "And we've found something interesting....One which is an obvious threat from Vortex"Arlo's eyes narrowed, his interest piqued. "What is it?" he asked, his voice low and even.I spoke up, my voice measured. "It looks like someone may have accessed our surveillance system remotely.....And by someone we mean Vortex. We're not sure who or how, but it's definitely possible that they have been watching us from the outside.....Thankfully they had access to only the main area as the main rooms don't have surveillance cameras."Arlo's expression turned thoughtful, his eyes clouding over as he processed the information. "That's not good," he said finally. "We need to get to the bottom of this and find o

NIKLAUS I walked into the training room, expecting to find it empty. But instead, I was surprised to see Max standing in the center of the room, her eyes fixed intently on the target in front of her. She was training herself, pushing her limits and testing her skills.I stood there, frozen in place, as I watched her move with a fluidity and precision that I hadn't seen before. Her powers were growing stronger, and she was learning to control them with a mastery that was impressive.I didn't want to interrupt her, didn't want to break the concentration that she had worked so hard to achieve. So I stood there, watching her, as she trained herself with a focus and determination that I admired. As I watched, I felt a sense of pride and satisfaction. Max was coming into her own, developing her skills and abilities with a speed and agility that was remarkable. She was going to be a valuable asset to our team, and I was grateful to have her by our side. However I still had some inches of do

HENRY I stood outside Arlo's office, taking a deep breath before knocking on the door. I had been thinking about this moment for weeks, ever since I had first started noticing the little things that were wrong with our facility. The outdated security systems, the inefficient technology, the general feeling of disorganization that seemed to permeate every aspect of our operations.I knocked on the door, and Arlo's voice called out for me to enter. I stepped inside, feeling a sense of nervousness that I quickly pushed aside."Arlo, I need to talk to you about something," I said, getting straight to the point.Arlo looked up from the papers he was studying, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. "What is it, Henry?" he asked.I took a deep breath, launching into my well-rehearsed speech. "I think it's time for a total cleaning of the facility," I said. "We need to update our security systems, advance our technology, and just generally get our house in order. I've been thinking about this for

NIKLAUS I stood in my office, my eyes fixed on the comms device in front of me. I had just finished speaking with my mother, and I was still reeling from our conversation. She had told me to stop being hostile to Max, to try to see her as an asset rather than a liability. I wasn't sure if I could do that, but I was willing to try.I took a deep breath and focused on the task at hand. I needed to contact Shane and inform him of our decision to move forward with the mission to survey the uncultivated parts of New Eden.I activated the comms device and waited for Shane to answer. When he finally did, his voice was laced with excitement."Klaus, what's going on? Have you made a decision about the NX-5?" he asked.I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But Shane was a trusted ally, and I knew I could count on him to keep our secrets at least for now."Shane, we've decided to move forward with the another mission," I said, my voice low and serious. "But I need you to hold off for now.

Am I doing okay?"I smiled, trying to reassure her. "You're doing great, Max. But I need you to speed up your training. We need you to be ready as soon as possible."Max's face fell slightly, and she looked uncertain. "What's going on, McKenna? Why do I need to speed up my training?"I hesitated, knowing that this was the part of the conversation that Max might not like. "We have taken your plan into consideration and it has been approved so now We're planning a mission to survey the uncultivated parts of New Eden, and we need you to be a part of it."Max's eyes widened, and she looked excited again. MAXINE I walked into the meeting room, my heart racing with excitement. I had been thinking nonstop about our problem, and I was convinced that I had come up with a solution and analyzed the plan with Alice, Lena and Pen.As I scanned the room, I saw the Phoenix-5 members seated around the table, their faces serious and intent. Klaus was there, too, his eyes narrowing slightly as he caught sight of me.I took a deep breath and began. "I've been thinking a lot about our problem, and I think I might have a solution," I said, trying to sound confident. The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to me. I could feel Klaus's gaze on me, his expression unreadable."I was thinking about New Eden," I continued. "We all know that it's a vast territory, but what if I told you that there are still some uncultivated parts that people don't inhabit? Parts that are over the border, but still safe?.....We read about it in school but some people do not exactly believe that."Ezra raised an eyebrow, hi

I had called this meeting to discuss the future of our program, and I was determined to make reopen the case."As you all know, we've been facing some challenges lately," I began. "But I firmly believe that our program is worth fighting for. We're not just talking about our own lives here; we're talking about the lives of others who are counting on us."I glanced around the table, meeting the eyes of each member. "I know that some of you may have doubts about our ability to continue, but I want to assure you that we have the resources and the expertise to make this work. We just need to be willing to take the risk."Reginald, who was seated to my right, nodded in agreement. "I think McKenna is right," he said. "We can't just give up on our program without a fight. We owe it to ourselves and to the people who are counting on us to see this through."But the other members of the team were not
