Daemon's POV As I sifted through the dozens of files on my desk, I sighed as I heard the click of my office door signaling that someone had just entered. "Hey, Sam, any news?" Taking in his scent, I asked with my head still focused on the files in front of me. "You've been on that page for hours before I left, and now you're still reading the same page," Sam said as he plopped himself on the couch, sounding irritated. "What's bothering you?" He demanded. I slammed the files shut and let out a tired sigh with my eyes shut. I didn't even realize that I had been on the same page for hours. What's wrong with me? That Luna is fucking messing with my senses, her smile, her catchy eyebrow, and... "Hey, bro..." Sam's deep voice pulled me out of my thoughts. Letting out a sigh, I stared right at him, "Did you gather all the information concerning her?" He went quiet for a while with his gaze fixed on me, scanning me thoughtfully, sighing I let out a puff breath... Here he go
Rhea's POV Arriving in my room after my encounter with Lila, I went close to my walk-in closet to change into more comfortable clothes when suddenly the image of King Daemon popped into my head. For several minutes, I stood rooted to the ground, fantasizing about him and his deep black eyes that seemed to be sucking in my soul every time our eyes locked. With his thick, manly voice and intense stare, I gulped nervously, my hand holding the embankment for support, as his intense eyes sent a striking sensation straight between my legs, making me weak. "This is wrong! I am not supposed to be visualizing another male when I already have a mate and a husband," I yelled mentally, trying to pull myself together and control the undeniable desires that were trying to overwhelm me. Why am I thinking about him? How could I feel this pull toward him? Today is my day... my birthday! Why do I feel my skin burning or heating up under his gaze? I am supposed to feel connected to Kian, my
Kian's POV My eyebrow flew open at what was actually going on in front of me, and I felt a sharp thud in my heart. Rhea was rasping in pain, and I knew what this was all about. She was transforming into her wolf - this shit fucking happens to first-time shifters. Having constant pain as you notice the breaking of your bones, bending and pushing you down to transform into your wolf, your other half. The elongation of the claws and the fur - all these are experiences, but as time goes on, you will get used to the changing. Her next growl pulled me out of my thoughts, and she started stooping with her palms curled in a ball form, and I already knew what was next. But unfortunately, I was not allowing that to happen. Once she changed to her wolf, she would be able to detect her real mate and possess her power, which I was not ready to risk at any moment from now. Rushing forward, I noticed how blurry her eyes were. She seemed weak, and that was the perfect opportunity to st
Rhea's POV The light from the sun panned through my curtains and onto my red wooden bed, casting a bit of its light on my face. I tried to snap my eyes open, but there were still some sleepy grains on them, making my eyelids heavy. I hissed in pain as I felt a sharp thud around my head, groaning painfully. My nose twitched slightly as a pungent smell hit it; it smelled awful, stinking. The more I drew back, the harder the smell hit me. I didn't think I could endure that odorous smell; it made me sick to my stomach. "Hello, wife, are you awake?" At the sound of that voice, I trembled. The voice sounded familiar, and before I knew it, I muttered, "Kian." My eyes instantly flew open to a blurry view of a man sitting beside me with a cup in his hands. From the look of things, the person was male. I could tell that he was staring down at me. I matched his gaze and focused my eyes on him, and suddenly, I had a perfect view. "Kian," I mumbled, sounding confused. What was
Rhea's POV My eyes flashed a series of colors before they instantly disappeared into my normal hue, and my body twitched as I tried to move. But it felt as if someone was squeezing my throat, making it impossible for me to breathe. Lifting my gaze, I stared at Kian. My eyes still burned with pain flashing through them. "What did you give me?" I yelled, my veins popping out. "Easy, and endure the pain. It is just for a few minutes," tears blurred my vision. Patting my cheek, he smiled and picked up the cup. "Try and rest." No matter how he tried to sound nice, the coldness in his voice couldn't go unnoticed. Standing at his feet, he spared me one last glance and walked away, leaving me all alone. My whole body ached, as if I was inside a burning lava. I tried crawling back to the bed when suddenly I felt a sharp pain around my chest. I gasped and grabbed hold of my blouse in pain. Rolling on the bare floor, the pain hit me again, sharper than before. Curling my fist,
Rhea's POV "Can't we talk?" she raised her brow at me. I was dumbfounded for a while, recovering from the unexpected shock. I glaze my eyes at the standing nervous Mercy at the door. Lila followed the direction of my gaze and it settled on Mercy, I noticed how distaste flashes through her eyes. "Don't you know what to do next...? Kiss the door and get your ass out of here," "Lila!" I called, and besides she sounded harsh. Mercy has done nothing wrong to her, I think that if she is here to apologize she should be on her best behavior. "What," she cocked a brow at me, "That was harsh," I corrected. "How," her frown deepened, her confused gaze staring into mine for an explanation. Don't play those tricks on me, Lila, using my head I motioned forward, pointing in the direction where Mercy was quietly standing, Lila followed my gaze before letting out a hiss. "Am just trying to put her in her place," "Lila, that's my assistance," I noticed Mercy fidgeting with her nails.
Rhea's POV It was early in the morning, the sun had risen and disappeared a hundred times now. Sitting at the edge of my bed I stare out of the window. My life seems empty like my glass of wine that was full a few minutes ago, my whole world is spinning around me. I am confused and broken. The absence of my wolf, the painful tragedy that suddenly befalls my late parents; I know that things could be a little easier assuming my parents were still alive. Tears roll down my cheeks as I stare out from the window, looking at the drops of water falling from the sky on how they suddenly vanish into the moist soil. I wish that my pain could easily go away like that. In my mind, I kept wishing that I could skip some years and fast forward to when it gets better but as usual the reality is there to stare you in the face reminding you of your hidden pains. What Lila said flashed through my mind, she wanted us to work things together for the betterment of the pack when she couldn't resi
Rhea's POV The garden was well-trimmed and the bushes around the pack were well taken care of. The pack members have all been one hell of busy today concerning the big dinner party tomorrow, the omegas were cleaning and running around though I made it mandatory that everyone should participate in the cleaning. After all, it is for everyone's betterment. Despite how weak and weary I felt inside, I couldn't see myself backing away. How will they see me if I can't carry out this simple assignment, especially Kian? And chickening out will allow those rascals to make the gist of me. Well, Fiona has been carrying out her duty, anyway I think that I get to say that because after the morning meeting, we haven't bumped into each other and I like it that way. Everybody should just focus on whatever they are doing. However, instead of having Lila following me up and down I then send her to the kitchen at least to keep an eye on the food and help me supervise the cooking since I am ove
