Zira’s POVAfter missing what Ronan said was the secret security point, I didn’t want to miss anything else so I leaned against his chest and kept my gaze fastened to the scenery outside the car. The car sped along the grassy covered routes that looked like it hadn’t been passed in a while. Ronan’s arms were still snaked around my waist, and it felt like he was pulling me closer into his embrace with every passing second. The car came to a slow stop at the same time as the cars ahead and behind us. In some of the movies we had seen from the human world, they would often do scenes like this with the use of technology while we could easily achieve the same thing with our mind link.“Why…” the words I was about to say were cut off by Ronan. “We cannot take the fleet of cars outside here as it would be too attention-grabbing, so from here, it would be just you and me,” “What if someone tries to attack us like the other day?” I asked, looking at the more than forty men that had now s
Paris, France. Zira’s POV We drove through the human city at full speed and Ronan only slowed down when he got to busy places with many people moving around. It was fascinating to see how they lived, and how couples stopped on the road to share a kiss. I was definitely going to try that with Ronan. My phone dinged with a notification as Ronan turned into another corner. Laura: Most of the Palace ladies are having a meeting now, they have invited some of the elite ladies that used to compete to be Queen. My smile froze as I saw the message. What exactly were these women trying to do? “They are probably just trying to devise a way to get another woman into my chambers. Someone that would work for them,” Ronan replied startling me. “You know I can read your mind if I want to? And you getting a text that leaves your expression like that, is one of those times I certainly have to.” His face had a wry side smile while his eyes glinted with concern. “I think I’ll need like a year d
Zira’s POVThe mansion was even more beautiful when we entered and I fell in love with it at first sight.I didn’t know all of Paris but I had some conviction that there was no way some regular hotel could beat this. A little part of me was surprised, after all, having a house like this in the normal world was a little far-fetched. As soon as Dany, Ronan turned to me with a teasing and knowing grin on his face. “Spit it out!” He said, crossing his arms around his chest. Standing right in front of me, Ronan’s 6:5ft made my five feet and eight inches look very tiny. “Spit what out?” I replied with a shrug and just like him, I wrapped my arms around myself. Two could play this game. After what seemed like two minutes, Ronan sighed and released his arm. “I have a company here, it would make no sense if I have no home address as that would raise brows..” he paused, his eyes searching my face for some emotion I had no idea. “..I have some other properties too so that things wouldn’t
Zira’s POV “Ronan…” I mumbled as he wrapped his palm around my face. “That’s exactly why it’s you, Zira.” “I brought you here, so that if one day, you get tired of everything about being in Eliza. If you get tired of being Queen…” he paused, closing his eyes as he took in a deep breath. “I want you to know that there’s a whole world out here for us. That we can be happy and safe.” Tears rolled from my eyes as he finished. We shifters have never been lone creatures. We weren’t humans that could survive staying all alone or wandering about. Being with our pack was one of the biggest and best experiences for us. And that was why, despite being stronger, we would decide to hide away from humans because we wanted each person to be safe more than we wanted power. Certainly, there would be some exceptions, but they were hardly successful as the larger population all wanted to stay back, safe with all their family and pack members. “Ronan, you don’t have to think like that.”
Ronan’s POV Despite how much I was looking forward to making breakfast with Zira and living like a normal couple, there were more urgent matters to handle and so after placing a kiss on her forehead, I forced myself to pull away. With her wild hair from last night laid out on the pillow, and that flawless appearance, I didn’t even need the mate bond to fall in love with the perfection that Zira was. I looked away, standing up from the bed because I was sure that one more second here, and my self-control was going to fly through the roof. Zira was still sleeping by the time I came out from the shower, all of those rounds last night must have certainly tired her out. “Good morning, Mr. Welter,” Dany greeted me as soon as I stepped out the doors. “Have you prepared all the materials?” I asked, hiding my displeasure at attending this meeting.“Everything is ready, we should be there two minutes before the meeting starts,” he paused and looked at the iPad he was holding. “Judging fr
Ronan's POV“Do you mean that the government wants us to spend money and time trying to figure out if the things in movies and books exist?” A man thundered from the end of the meeting room and several people murmured to show that they agreed with his words.“The United States launched this order two years ago and they are currently doing all they can to find them.” The man paused, looking at the lady that was beside him.“Not just that, the important part is that at this point, all of their research results have reason to point that these other creatures exist here on earth.” The lady added.“The financial pocket of their country is nothing compared to what we have here! If they somehow exist with us, there’s no reason to find them out since they aren’t causing any harm to our race.” Jason spoke up, his face set in a fixed scowl that showed that he genuinely didn’t like the idea of what was happening.“Unfortunately, this is the order from the government.”I cleared my throat, attrac
Zira’s POV “Alfred must have failed to inform me about his marriage.” The middle-aged woman in front of me said with a beaming smile. She grabbed my hand, her fingers gliding over the ring that Ronan had given me one more time. “And to a beautiful wife like that!” She added and even though it was a large intrusion on my privacy, her excitement made it hard for me to find her offensive. After waking up to an empty and cold side of the bed. Several dreadful thoughts had rushed through my mind up until I saw Ronan’s note on the bedside table. And even after I had seen the note, there had still been a part of me that worried a little that something had gone wrong while I had been asleep.Mrs. Smith's arrival here had made me become a little less nervous. “I’ll make breakfast, you can go up to clean up,” she said, shooting me her warm smile one more time. I nodded and then rushed up the stairs twice at a time. After all the exercises from last night, I was probably the hungriest wol
Lucan’s POV“When you said his wife was fierce and firm, I wasn’t expecting such a beauty,” Antoine said as he leaned back on the seat, playing with the chess pieces in front of us. I frowned, my eyes narrowing as I watched his every reaction. “We have never considered her appearance as anything important. The important thing is to know what chess piece she is. Antoine scoffed, his aura becoming a little wild. “Since when has her appearance not mattered? Ronan’s mate is an outer-worldly beauty like that and you failed to mention that?” “It only makes sense that he is obsessed with her when she looks like that. Even I would drop Aimee for a woman like Zira.” He argued as he moved one of the chess pieces forward. I leaned forward too, watching where he moved the Queen too. “What are you doing?” My brother’s voice rang out from behind. After being quiet for the entire hour that we had been here, Keith spoke up for the first time. “I have decided to move the Queen over to my side.
