Chapter 7 There Will Be No Next Time

Thomas went to his study and returned with a box made out of redwood. He handed it over to Yvonne.

Yvonne smiled and obediently said, "Thank you, Father."

Thomas gritted his teeth. "No need to thank me. Just make sure you live happily with Mr. Anderson." In other words, once she took the gift, she should never return home again.

Yvonne had no intention of following his wishes. This was only the start of her revenge. She said teasingly, "Don't worry, I'll bring Mr. Anderson home to visit both of you often."

Thomas was so mad that his expression became stormy.

In the car, Stephen stretched out his hand. "What did you get from your father?"

"It’s my late mother’s last masterpiece, a ruby necklace," Yvonne replied.

She opened the box. A luxurious and extravagant ruby necklace, Treasured Love, was lying inside. It had finally returned to her after so many years! But when Yvonne remembered that her mother's love for Thomas had inspired the creation of this necklace, she slammed the box shut.

Her hatred for Thomas boiled inside her. He didn’t deserve to possess this Treasured Love! It would be an insult and a disservice to such an exquisite necklace! Last year, Yvonne saw a photo of Monica walking the red carpet with the necklace around her neck. The masterpiece caught the attention and focus of major fashion magazines around the world.

Just thinking about it made Yvonne grit her teeth with anger. She was determined to take back everything they had stolen from her and pay them back for all their evil deeds!

"I hope something so troublesome like this will only occur once. There should be no next time," Stephen warned coldly.

Yvonne snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Stephen's hand. Once a person lost their sight, it was inevitable that he would become more vulnerable and anxious in unfamiliar environments.

She'd never expected Stephen to show up at Miller Villa. She pursed her lips. "Thank you for coming."

Stephen turned his face away and said indifferently, "Don't thank me. I didn’t do it out of the kindness of my heart."

If Yvonne had been of no value to him, he couldn’t care less about what would have happened to her.

Elizabeth wasn't someone to be trifled with. She threatened the Jones family to behave themselves; otherwise, she would drive them out of Northerna City. Her threat made it crystal clear that the feud between the Anderson family and the Jones family had begun.

After seeing Elizabeth off, Thomas turned around and slapped Monica. "This is all your fault! Now that we’ve offended the Andersons, we're doomed!"

Monica cried, holding her burning cheek. "Do you think I wanted this to happen? The Anderson family forced our hand! Why should I marry my precious daughter off to a blind man?"

Thomas was so furious that he raised his hand to slap her again, but Kayla stopped him. "Dad, Mom did this because of me! If you want to hit someone, hit me!"

"Kayla, let him slap me! If he has the guts, he might as well kill me!"

Watching them sob in each other's arms, Thomas had nowhere to vent his anger, so he stamped his foot and left in a rage.

With tears running down her cheeks, Kayla asked, "Mom, what should we do now?"

"Don't be intimidated by your dad's words." Monica wiped away Kayla's tears and comforted her. "Besides, the feud between the Anderson family and the Robinson family has been going on for a long time. Being on bad terms with the Andersons may actually help you marry into the Robinson family."

There were four elite families in Northerna City: the Andersons, the Robinsons, the Johnsons, and the Dawsons.

Although the Andersons had the most influence, the Robinson family was a close second. Getting into the Robinson family was their true goal.

"But..." When Kayla thought of how loving Yvonne and Stephen seemed, she couldn’t help feeling resentful.

"If Yvonne truly becomes part of the Anderson family, didn’t we just do her a favor for nothing?"

Monica sneered. "Silly girl, don’t you know the kind of person Stephen is? He's known to be a ruthless and cruel man. Sooner or later, Yvonne will die at his hands!"

It was rumored that Stephen was merciless to the point that he would even sacrifice his own family, let alone a nobody like Yvonne.
