Chapter 11: Day of the Wedding

EARLIER THAT MORNING OF THE WEDDING

In her freezing cell, Agatha was still in mediation. She was finishing up her magic when she was rudely interrupted by loud clanging and banging of the bars to her cell.

“Who is it?” she thought.

“You go get her,” said the first maid.

“No. You go,” said the second maid.

“Well, I been here first, so you should listen to me.”

“But I am higher rank than you, so you should listen to me.”

“No. That’s not fair.”

Agatha sighed as both of them were going to keep fighting and her food was going to get cold, and she wouldn’t have anything warm to eat.

“Alright then, let’s go together,” said the first maid.

“Okay, but you can’t lie to me,” said the second maid.

“Of course not.”

Both of them open up the cell door and enter. They both gasped as they saw her.

Agatha was dressed in rags. She was so pale and white that the maids were frightened of her. The second maid nearly fainted as she thought Agatha was a ghost.

“She’s not human. She’s dead,” said the first maid.

The second maid was shaking her head to wake herself up.

“Wake up, you stupid! Or I am going to leave you here by yourself,” said the first maid.

The second maid cried, “No. Don’t leave me.”

“I will if you keep acting like that.”

“We can’t leave, remember the king order us to take her.”

Agatha frowned at what they were saying.

“We got to get her ready.”

“Yes. You’re right.”

“Today is her day to be off to.”

“Alright, alright.”

“What do you want?” asked Agatha.

The two maids stare at her in fear.

“I’m sure you’re not here to give me any food,” said Agatha.

“What?” asked the first maid.

“I don’t see any food in your hand.”

“Huh?”

“Well usually the other maids or servants will just toss the food on the floor and run.”

“Oh. Well, we’re not here to feed you.”

“Then what are you here for?”

“Well-”

“Yes?”

“Under the command of the King, you’re to be wedded to King Austin of the Black wolves,” said the second maid.

“What?”

“Yes. You are to be wedded.”

Agatha’s face lit up. She could finally be free from this cell. But wait, what if this is a cruel trick. What if the king is trying to kill her instead. It could be true for he kept her locked her for so many years. Maybe he was tired of her and decided to get rid of her once and for all. She folded her hands together and stayed still. She didn’t move.

“Well come on, we haven’t gotten all day,” said the second maid.

Agatha frowned and didn’t say anything.

“We’re not lying. We got proof that today is indeed you’re wedding.” They had a paper in their hand.

Agatha frowned.

“Here, take it you will see what we’re talking about.”

Agatha took the paper from their hand.

It was indeed an invitation to everyone. On it states her name, Agatha Grey, getting married. And for the whole entire wolf clan from all over the land to come join the celebration as the Grey Wolf King married off his cursed daughter to the alpha of the Black wolves.

“What?” questioned Agatha, as she finished reading it.

“You can read?” asked the first maid.

Agatha’s eyes widened. She had forgotten that she was supposed to be the cursed princess where she was neglected and forgotten. She’s supposed to be illiterate and stupid. “Oh. No. Of course not. I can’t read of course.” She handed the paper back to them.

“Well, do you believe us now?” asked the first maid.

“What?”

“That you’re getting married.”

“What about it?

“Well, if you believe it then please go with us.”

Agatha didn’t say anything.

“Please we got to move you along.”

Agatha frowned at them.

“Prin-Princess, we got to get you ready,” said the second maid.

“Ready?” questioned Agatha.

“Yes. For your wedding.”

“Oh. Of course.” Agatha got up. As she stood up her long black hair drifted over her pale white face. Her blue eyes looked so mysterious and blue that it scared the second maid so much that she fainted.

“Aiya, what happened to you,” asked the first maid.

Agatha lifted her hair from her face and asked, “What’s wrong with her?”

“Nothing. This maid is a chicken.”

“A what?” asked Agatha, leaning over to look at the maid who fainted.

“Will you please wake up!” exclaimed the first maid. She was tapping on her face.

The second maid finally woke up and then she saw Agatha’s white face and her blue eyes that seemed to glow at her, and she gasped with fear and fainted again.

“What! What the heck is the matter with you,” said the first maid.

Agatha stared in confusion.

“Damn it, at this rate we will never get her ready, so get up or the king will have our head.”

After another ten minutes the second maid woke up and said, “Princess, can you please not do that, you are scaring me half to death.”

Agatha tilted her head at her.

As the second maid looked at Agatha, she saw something that she had never noticed before. That Agatha is actually really pretty. “What?” she whispered.

“What is it?” asked the first maid.

“It’s just-It’s just,” the second maid was pointing her finger at Agatha.

“What is it? Did you faint and go to heaven?”

“It’s just that-”

“What? Did you fainted and had a brain fart that you become more stupider?”

The second maid shook her head.

“Good. Then let’s go before we’re late.”

“Okay.”

The second maid got up and they both went out of the cell together.

Agatha followed them out.

As she took a step out of her cell, she had a sudden realization of freedom. For the first time in her life, she was finally going to be free from this cell. She thought to herself should she take a break and run for it. However, she is not fully aware of the world, and she might end up being in trouble if she wasn’t careful. She would have to think of another way.

“Come on, princess,” said the second maid.

Agatha nodded and followed them.

When they got to the room, they dragged her into the room and gave her a bath.

“Oh my god, she smells,” said the first maid.

“Of course, she does. She probably never had a bath before,” said the second maid.

“Oh, I’m sure she does, but not very often.”

When they were scrubbing all the dirt off of her, the second maid said, “Wow, what beautiful white skin you have.”

Agatha stared at her and nodded.

“Princess, you have beautiful blue eyes,” said the first maid.

“Thanks,” said Agatha.

When they got done putting on her make up and dressing her, they both gasped at her beauty.

“Wow, she’s even more beautiful than Princess Juniper,” said the first maid.

Agatha knew that she was far prettier than her sister. She was a beautiful women who have been locked up due to her father’s hatred. Due to his anger, she lived alone her whole life.
