Chapter 6.

Foria's POV.

I woke up because of a knock. I groaned before laying on my right side, but I flinched when I felt the sunlight on my face. Someone knocked again.

I opened my eyes and then looked at the door sharply. It’s early in the morning and they are disturbing me. Don't they know I'm tired?

"Who is that?" I said a little louder.

"Good morning, Ma’am. Your Mommy said that you need to come downstairs to have breakfast," she answered from outside.

I frowned. Breakfast? Right now? I'd rather sleep. I really need sleep.

"Just tell her I won't come down, Rowena. I really want to sleep!” I answered with my eyes closed. My eyes hurt. It wanted to close until I fell asleep again.

"I’m sorry, but they say it's not possible. Angelo is downstairs, he says he has something to say to you.  If you don't get down, he will get you down himself," she answered, causing me to scratch my head in irritation.

Argh! Angelo is irritating! He knows that I am tired from work and also from watching my son. I needed rest.

"Go ahead! I'll be downstairs after a while," I said. I didn't hear her answer, I just heard footsteps away from the door.

What will he say? Is it so important than my rest? I hope so because if not, he will regret it.

I was irritated while sitting on the bed. I roam my eyes around. My eyes stopped at the crib. I didn't see my son there but I didn't panic  I knew that my Mom or Rowena took him downstairs to drink his milk. They know I can't wake up early because of staying up all night.

Yes, I stayed would up at night. Who wouldn't stay awake if your child suddenly cries in the middle of the night, right? All I thought was that he would have a good night’s sleep because he was easy to handle last night, but no. He knows how to make me tired and panic. I slept two am as a result.

He's not like that every night. There are also nights when he doesn't wake up in the middle of the night and is asleep peacefully. Those nights were lucky for my health. But when he wakes up, it's a goodbye for my health. Sometimes I slept at five in the morning because Maxim cried so much. He only cries about three times a week in the middle of the night. But I'm still really surprised. We still don’t know when he is going to cry.

I looked at the wall clock when I realized what time it was. I saw that it was ten in the morning and yet they were inviting me downstairs to have breakfast. Well, I think it's for me. It is bad to not eat breakfast.  They say Breakfast is the most important meal.

Even if I wanted to sleep, I couldn't do anything but stand up. I went to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. After that, I put on a bra before going downstairs.

"Good morning," I said softly when I entered the dining area.

I saw my mother, older brother, and my little son sitting there. They both looked at me.

"Good morning, Maxine. Come on, Eat your breakfast," Mama invited. I didn't complain and obeyed.

"You look tired," said Angelo when he sat in the chair.

I looked at him, not minding the maids putting food on my plate. "I'm sorry for looking like this, Big Brother.  I am really tired and sleepy. Your nephew went crazy last night."

He chuckled before looking at my child beside him. The baby was holding onto his big index finger while chewing it. I laughed when he winced a bit because it was filled with saliva.

"This fella is stubborn sometimes.  I just don't know where he inherited it." He said, laughing.

Mom and I looked at each other. "Son. Of course, he inherited it from you. You are stubborn," Mom said.

"No, I'm not, Mom," he answered with a frown. "That was you."

I winced when they started arguing. I just ignored them and started eating.  I’m hungry.

After I finished eating, I immediately looked at my brother. He was still playing with my son, not looking at me. But I know he knows I was looking at him.

"What is it, Brother?"  I asked.

He smiled before looking at me. "I have good news for you, my little sister." I waited for him to continue. "You need to resign from your current job." I was shocked by what he said.

I gripped the chair tightly. “B-But…” What does he mean? Don't tell me…  I looked at my mother. “M-Mom…”

 She smiled. "Ask him, Maxine."

I looked at my brother before gulping. "Why, Brother?"

“Why?" he looked at my son again with a smile. "You're going to a modeling company." My eyes widened because of what he said.  He looked at me again. "A modeling company wants to hire you to be their model."

I could barely move. "B-But… h-how?" It almost didn’t come out of my mouth. Oh my gosh!

"They are finding fresh and young models and I've decided that I will take you there. Since it was my friend's company. Besides, they want to hire you, they saw potential in you in just one look," he answered.

I covered my mouth and cried because of what I heard. Oh my gosh…

All my life, I was dreaming to be a model. Even if business administration is a course in college, my heart will stay on my dream. I wanna be a model and here it is.  Finally.

“Maxine, it's your dream. It will be fulfilled," Mama said tearfully. She knew.

“T-Thank you, Brother."

I felt something warm. "You’re welcome, Princess." It's my Big Brother.

He wiped my tears. "A-Angelo..." I said. I didn't think it would happen.

He just smiled. "Your dream will come true, Maxine. Now, fix yourself and prepare your resignation letter.  Resign from your job, ASAP!”

 ***

"Are you sure about this, Ms. Lux?  No second thoughts? Are you sure?" Mr. Romano asked after I handed him my resignation paper.

I smiled and nodded. "Yes, sir.  I am going to resign," I said wholeheartedly.

He sighed. "May I know the reason?"

”I have been invited to a modeling company. It’s my dream that I wanted to pursue," I answered without hesitation. There is nothing to lose by telling. It's not like my reason is not true.

He sighed again. "Alright. If that's your decision." He signed it.

“Are you okay, Sir?"  I asked because his face was so sad.

He was 26 years old. Young, handsome, and rich. But I know myself that he's not my type and I also know that I am not his type. He already has a girlfriend so it's impossible. So I can't think of any reason for him to be sad.

“Nothing. It's just that I will lose one of the good and committed employees here. It's just sad," he replied then sighed again. I lowered my head. "But don't worry, I understand your decision. I already approved your resignation letter. You are now not an employee of this restaurant. Thank you for your hard work”

I looked up with joy. "Thank you." I thought he wouldn't let me.

He smiled. "Now, chase your dreams and build your career. I am here supporting you. If you change your mind, you can come back here.” I laughed at the last thing he said, so did he. "Friends?" he extended his hand to me.

I smiled. "Friends!" we shook hands.

“Alright, leave. Before I change my mind," he pushed.

"Thank you very much, sir—oh, Romano—thank you!" he just laughed at me.

When I got out, my colleagues met me outside. They interrogated me about why I resigned, and of course, I told them that I had to. I didn't tell the real reason even though they insisted.

They also ask me about why I have my car. I also have no choice but to tell them the real story. And of course, they were shocked.  Someone even asked why I was a waitress when I was rich. I just said that I need some experience. Well, it was half true and half lie.

When that talk was over, I went home. I need to prepare myself for the interview with the company that my brother said.
