[“You are important to me, Reese. I treat you as my own sister. So, no matter what happened, I won’t never ever leave your side.”]
That was the promise I said to Reese a long time ago.
Therefore, when I was in the brink of death, I thought she’ll do the same. That she will believe me and she’ll stay by my side until the end. But what did she say when she visited me in the cell?
[“I know that you did not kill sir Sorren. But you need to disappear, Harriet. For my happiness, the real heir must die. You will die for me, right? Since you are my friend, Nadia Wyatt. You are the true Nadia Wyatt, Harriet. But don’t worry. As soon as you disappear, I will do my best to portray your position. We’re friends after all.”]
Friend?
A friend who stole my position and wished for me to die?
I looked at Reese who is standing at the open door of my room. She’s wearing a maid uniform, and she’s smiling at me after sharing that the chairman asked me to join them for breakfast.
To be honest, my mind right now is still in a mess.
I couldn’t understand why the hell I’m experiencing a situation that happened from the past.
Am I dreaming? Am I experiencing the last phase of my dying brain where I reminisce my old days? Or did I really go back to the past?
This could not be an illusion.
Everything I see and hear seem so true.
“Why are you looking at me t-that way, Harriet? Is there something wrong with my face?” Reese asked, cupping her cheeks.
It was then I realized I’ve been glaring at her while clenching my fists.
I really like to slap her, pull her hair and kick her out! I felt so deeply mad that my throat hurts as I suppressed the tears from flowing down.
I wanted to ask her why she betrayed me and why did she hide about my identity.
However, I know I can’t get the answer at this moment. Even if I am in rage, I need to ponder and consider my situation first.
With that, I tried my best to remove my perturbed expression. I forced my lips to smile at her, even if I am gritting my teeth so bad.
“Thank you,” I said, undertone. “I will prepare now and go to the dining room later.”
Reese fetched a sigh after hearing my answer.
She caressed her chest and gave her reply.
“Okay. I will tell sir Sorren that you’re on the way. Bye bye~”
She closed the door and left.
As soon as she’s gone, all the strength I gathered in my knees has weakened. I fell on the ground, sitting while catching my heavy breath.
Lots of idea came back and forth inside my mind no matter how much I tried to calm myself and think further about this.
“A moment ago… I was in my cell,” I whispered to myself. “Then, I sat down on the electric chair and…”
It was so painful.
I remembered how painful it is that I thought my body turned into pieces.
“But I did not die.”
Moreover, I woke up and found myself inside my room in Fabroa’s mansion. I saw Reese wearing her maid uniform and she said that…
“Ahhh!” I gasped and covered my mouth.
Grandpa Sorren.
Grandpa Sorren is alive!
I stood up, unable to stop the tears in my eyes. Never thought I will see him again!
Crying, I was about to open the door when I realized something.
‘If I will go to grandpa Sorren right now while I am crying, and if I say that I am so happy to see him alive, won’t everyone find it odd?’
I pulled my hand away from the doorknob.
With tears on my eyes, I went back to my bed and sat down to think again.
‘Let’s say I really did come back to the past.’
“How?”
That’s a mystery that I cannot solve.
Didn’t I wish something before I died? I wished for evil to redeem their sins for hurting me.
“Is this the answer for my wish?”
Did the heaven give me the chance to go back to the past to do what I hope for?
“To save grandpa, avoid dead, show Zion that I am innocent and also…”
My hands clenched so hard as I think of Reese again.
‘Right. Reese need to condemn her sins for everything she had done to me.’
The information that Reese gave me before I died aren’t detailed. One thing is for sure, she pretended to be Nadia Wyatt and she knows who killed grandpa Sorren.
I looked around my room to search for my phone.
During this time, she is still the Fabroa family’s maid and she does not pretend as Nadia Wyatt yet. That means, I need to know the exact day, month and year when I came back.
I saw my phone above the mini cabinet, grabbed it and tried to open.
May 19, 2022, Friday; this is what I saw from the screen.
I tried to unlock my cellphone but I could not do it since the lock code I was using back in the future is different from what I was using at this time.
“If I went back to May 19, 2022, then it is a one year lapse.”
That’s why I could not remember the pass code I used.
I closed my eyes and nodded my head.
This is nothing. The most important thing is that I have a chance to avoid the dark future ahead of me.
No one will believe me if I say that I came from the future, of course; the same as I cannot believe it too.
But for now, I need to accomplish one thing before waking up from this mysterious nightmare.
“I need to eat breakfast together with grandpa Sorren and Zion’s family.”
Indeed, I could not remember the exact date when I ate breakfast together with Fabroa’s family for the first time in my life. However, I would never forget what happened at that time.
‘Isn’t this the time to fight back?’
What am I fearing of?
To lose my job?
Getting kicked out from the mansion?
Or for Zion to hate me?
I am not scared at all.
I lost my job before, went on jail, had Zion cursed at me, lost my dearest Sorren, got stabbed my back by my friend and even… died.
There’s a place waiting for me even if they decided to kick me out of this hellish place.
“Nadia Wyatt.”
That’s right.
I am the real Nadia Wyatt; the heir of Wyatt corporation.
I stood up and went in front of my cabinet. When I opened it, I saw two portion of clothes; those I wear while working as chairman’s secretary, and those I avoided to wear because someone told me not to dress up prettily.
‘Why did I listen to that brat who told me to only wear plain clothes everyday? Tss.’
After clicking my tongue, I grabbed the yellow dress. This is the dress Zion gifted to me on my last birthday. But because of his br*tty sister, I did not have the chance to wear this before.
‘I regretted not wearing this before dying.’
Holding the yellow dress, I looked at my reflection on the mirror.
“Let’s have a make-over, miss Nadia Wyatt,” I said to myself with a smirk.
“I could not understand. Why should we wait for a mere secretary before we can start eating?” Madell asked while sitting in front of the dining table, together with the whole family. She looked at her parents, to Mr. Finn and Mrs. Sherly Fabroa, who both have their face crumpled as they stared at their spoiled brat daughter.“I don’t understand why do I need to wait for that b*tch,” rolling her eyes, Madell continued.A little later, Madell felt someone kicked her feet under the table. And it was done from her brother, who’s sitting beside her.“Ouch!” she winced as she looked at her left side.Zion turned his head to his sister. Just like Madell who has a gorgeous face and smooth skin as if bathed from milk, Zion was also blessed with handsome features and nice built. He has a crew cut and darting eyes, Hades-black eyebrows affixed to an aesthetic face, a hawky’s nose and a shapely face. No wonder why many entertainment companies asked him if he has a plan to enter the showbiz. But h
The dining room is so quiet, only the sounds of the cutlery hitting the plate were heard around. While everyone was busy staring at each designated plate, Zion took the chance to look at Harriet who’s sitting across him and beside his grandfather.Harriet is so beautiful today. She’s wearing a make-up and she let her chocolate hair laid down.Zion remembered the words he heard from his high-school classmates before. They said that Harriet is so pretty many would adore her in school. Zion felt so proud. He sees Harriet as his own sister, and he’s happy whenever he heard good thing about her. However, the Harriet whom he saw as his family, began to appear like a stranger; a gorgeous stranger.Looking at her, Zion’s heart began to beat faster. Is it because of the pink lipstick on her lips?Or because she’s wearing the yellow dress that Zion gifted to her during her last birthday?‘This is weird,’ Zion told to himself.Harriet grabbed the glass of water on her right side. As soon as she
Harriet’s POV“Just because my brother gave you a dress, you think so highly of yourself?” Madell roughly carries the yellow dress that Zion bought for me. Almost stumbling, I chased after her. When Madell found out that her brother gifted me a dress, she wanted to own the clothe and asked me to give it to her instead. Of course, I did not agree. As a result, Madell went so mad. She snatched the dress from my hand, and I followed her until we arrived at he mansion’s living room. During that time, only I, Madell and the maid, Reese, were present. “Please Madell! Give it back to me!” I begged. Madell looked at me with a grin on her lips. Ever since we were kids, she treated me like a garbage and a stone in her eyes. But because she is Zion’s sister and for the sake of peace, I let her do whatever she wanted, not realizing that I was too blinded by love and hopeless affection from other. But that time… she’s going overboard. “Give it back to you?” she said in sarcastic tone. “Why
I only have two wishes before: To be with Zion for a long time and for him to reciprocate my feelings. These were my medicine against his family’s slavery. I had endured a lot, waiting for the day when they can accept me. But all of my hope had disappeared when the police arrested me as the main suspect for killing Zion’s grandfather. I can still remember that very day when Zion left me: “No! That is not true! Please believe me! I did not kill grandpa Sorren!” The police took me out of the mansion by force. I was crying so hard as I tried to pull myself from their tight clutches. When I looked back and saw Zion staring at me, a newborn strength entered my body, that I succeeded escaping from the two big police standing so close at my sides. After pushing them away, I pathetically ran towards Zion. The first thing I did?I knelt down. I knelt in front of him and begged. “Please, Zion. Please believe me. You know how much I love grandpa Sorren, right? So how can I kill him? I can
Third Person’s POV “Harriet. Please do remind the board of directors about the meeting later this…” Chairman Sorren, the owner of Fantell Architecture Firm, could not finish his words as soon as he turned back and saw his crying secretary. Harriet is silently sobbing while staring at the old man. Sorren’s heart melted for the young lad. Ever since kid, Harriet is a optimistic kid. He rarely sees her cry or complain about Madell. And when Harriet grew up as a fine lady, Sorren did not see her feels so discourage. Harriet only realized that she’s crying so hard, when she noticed the chairman’s empathetic gaze towards her. She brought her hands up and quickly dried her eyes and cheeks. “What’s the problem? Why are you crying?” asked Sorren. Harriet sobbed. She bowed her head and shook it to show that she’s fine, when she’s not. “Did Sherly nag at you? Or did Madell do something again?” the old man inquired. Sniffing, Harriet once again shook her head. She really wanted to run
Harriet’s POV After working so hard, I stayed inside my room to ponder my situation.I fear that going back to the past is just a dream of mine, and I can’t rest assure, not until I saw the sunrise tomorrow.‘Even though the day felt so really long to call it just a dream or illusion.’I wanted to rest and sleep but drowsiness wouldn’t come at all. So I saw in front of my study table. I grabbed a pen and laid a clean sheet of paper before me. Then, I wrote things to do tomorrow, if ever everything is real.‘Things I need to do,’ I wrote in the paper.First, I need to get my position as Mr. Astell Wyatt’s missing daughter to get the power I need for revenge. I shall not let Reese steal my identity as Nadia, the real heir.It is necessary to know when and where Reese and Mr. Astell will meet, and how did Reese find out that I am Nadia Wyatt.Second, I need to know who killed grandpa Sorren. There is still one year before the incident take place. I hope I have enough time to find the cu
Harriet’s POVThe second day after going back to the past has arrived. How and why I returned back, and how long it will last, the answers to this questions remain mystery as of now.I was given the second life to live and the time is so short, I should not waste it by doubting and hesitating. So I moved up from my bed, take a shower and prepared clothes that I will wear.As I opened my cabinet, I saw few beautiful dresses. I wore two of those yesterday and there are few choices left.‘I think I need to buy new dresses.’I suddenly wondered how much money I have in my bank account at this time. Even if I have enough money to buy dresses before, I did not buy. It was because I feared if a time when I’ll be kicked out of the house and I need money to feed myself. So aside from avoiding wearing dresses and dolling because Madell told me to, I just saved all of my wealth in my bank account. Now, there’s no reason to feel anxious about money.I chose the white dress. The chairman bought th
