Overworking her

(Vivienne)

"Sweetie it's already late...we should go"Alexis entered the small office I was given to do my work. As interns, they gave us an open space which they divided into different cabins for our work. It turned out that Alexis and I weren't the only ones doing internships. Six more were there and the rest had gone to orientation while I did the work Victor gave me. It was indeed late

"You go I'll follow up," I said, waving her four. The work Victor gave me was too much. I didn't even get time to have any lunch or the breakfast I said I would have

"Girlfriend, you need to rest...how come they gave you work and you missed orientation," she said, slamming the file I was going through shut and putting her hand on it. I sighed heavily running my hands in his hair and looked up at her. I was already exhausted but I had three more files to look at. I had a total of six when I left Victor's office but I was shocked when four more were brought to me at the last minute and now I was dying inside

"Just go Alex...I'll finish up, take a taxi and come to you," I said, trying by all means not to sound rude to her. She stared at me for a while and removed her hand from the file

"Okay...so I guess you'll finish up...then I better go," she said and walked around "but why give you so much work... Priscilla said our work will start tomorrow?" she said, looking at me with a questionable look and I shrugged. I didn't expect this but with Victor in charge and as the boss, I knew this was just the beginning of his torture

"Just go sweetie" I waved her off, this was going to take so much time and I didn't want to bore her with this

"Great...I'll go and I'll make sure our dinner is ready before you get back" she finally agreed and I smiled at her. She gave me a hug which I returned and walked away from there. All the cabins were empty and when Alexis left, I was the only one there. I didn't mind as I sat back down adjusting the computer a little closer and I fixed my eyes on my work. He didn't give me much but some files had different already made presentations and I was asked to see which one fit. Of course, I saw some errors and changed some.

"Inventory," I said out loud as I entered data into worksheets. This was a little challenging but I did my best and since the grumpy man was trying to make me look like a fool, I decided to show him who's boss

"Done!"I said stretching a little and finishing the last cup of coffee I took from the cafeteria. I glanced at my phone and gasped

"9:58 PM "I didn't believe it was almost 10 PM, I looked at my work and I was done. The only thing I needed to do was do some research but that was for another time

"Okay now let's take this to the grumpy man," I said, gathering the files but soon I stopped. Was he still around? I shrugged and made my way out of there. Our cabins were on the second floor which means I had to go up to give Victor. I set out for the elevator. It didn't take time before the elevator came to a halt. I exhaled puffing out air from my mouth as I made my way to Victor's office. The place was awfully quiet. I guessed all the employees left already

*Knock knock*

I knocked a few times and heard a come in. I didn't waste time as I pushed the door open and walked in only to find the man busy as well. Why didn't he go? He could have just asked me to keep the files or deliver them to his office

"You wasted my time and I thought you would be done... early"the man said shrewdly without even looking at me. I didn't mind as I made my way to him

"Everything is ready," I said, putting the files on his desk. I didn't wait for him to insult me more when I turned to leave but the man held my hand

"I didn't check them to see if you worked as I expected, "the man said and I was stunned as I turned to look at him. This was ridiculous, it was late at night and he expected me to stay here and wait for him. If he had the whole day and night to work then I didn't

"Sir I'm sure you can take the files back home and go through them, "I said and shrugged his hand away and withdrew from his hold and he looked at me with narrowed eyes

"Ms. Payton, have you forgotten who I am, or do I have to remind you?" he said coldly and leaned a basin in his chair. His entire aura was that of a bossy man who thought so highly of themselves. I failed to understand how the man changed so much

"As your employee, I deserve to rest, "I told him straight. He had made me work for hours without taking a break. He was doing this on purpose and now seeing the time. I didn't think I could survive another minute

"Then go...since you are invoking your rights as an employee...you can go," he said, rubbing his hands together and giving him a half-smile that was a pure mockery. I was mocking him and his integrity. His big ego and his whole damn company. I was going to make sure he bowed before me

"Goodnight Mr. Ellison," I said, tapping my fingers on the table lightly, and walking away from there. I smirked and flipped my hair swaying my hips away and walked out of his office and slammed the door shut

"That jerk will pay for this," I said as I gathered my things. It was really scary to be alone in here, but I made sure to get my things and made sure I arranged my table nicely when I left there

Upon getting out of the building, a warm cold breeze greeted me as I shivered a little and looked around the dark dimly lit place.

"I should get a taxi," I said and walked as fast as my tired legs could carry me out the streets to find a taxi. I hoped s taxi passed by soon because I wasn't ready to go back to the hotel on foot like I normally did back them

"Damn it...how long," I said when I was standing by the roadside with no taxi passing by. This was frustrating knowing I was so tired to stand any minute. The only cars passing were personal cars.

"Just one please dear God," I said, glancing at my phone thirty minutes passed and there was nothing. I was getting agitated because it was nearly 11 PM and I didn't want thugs to attack me

"I should…"I was about to say when I heard a car approaching, it was heading the same way I was going and it was driving a little slower than usual… I moved aside when the car drove towards the direction I was standing, not sure if the driver was blind and didn't see me standing there.

I averted my eyes away and held my purse close and tucked my hair behind my ears. I thought the car would pass but it stopped right before me. I couldn't help but glance back to see who it was and to my surprise, the backseat door was open and inside I spotted the man I left back in his office

"Get in" the man spoke in a nonchalant way and when I looked at him. He had his eyes on the phone. I shrugged not in the mood to ride in the same car as him hence I shook my head cheekily

"No thanks, I'll get a taxi," I said and walked away from there. It was best I proceeded down the main road myself. Maybe I could catch a taxi on my way. I didn't even look back as I stomped away frowning at my predicament. This was all his fault. How dare he give me so much work and I ended up working up to this time and now there was no taxi approaching which left me in a tough cookie

"Grumpy man," I said when his car drove by at high speed and again the road got even darker and quieter. The street lights were on but even so, the quietness reminded me of my life in the past.

It was like this every time I got from work at the restaurant. It wasn't different even though I grew up so with a smile I walked as fast as I could ignoring the coldness I was feeling. But even so, I knew I would arrive at the hotemmmayberound one in the morning if I walked a little faster.

But what if I encountered some bad men on my way. I had no weapon with me like I usually did. Thinking up to here I sighed and stopped for a while. Maybe I could sit somewhere and wait for a taxi to come but just then a car came driving back at high speed that I moved aside only for it to stop right before me and the door opened with so much force and I was stunned to see who it was

"You!"I said not sure why he came back when I wanted nothing to do with him

"I'll give you a ride you can pay me for my services," Victor said and grabbed my hand and forcefully dragged me to the car

"Let...let me go!"I protested, trying, by all means, to keep him off me, however, the savage man shoved me in the car without even caring about his driver there. He got in as well and slammed the door shut

"Drive" he gave orders and the car turned back to where it came from earlier and the driver drove away at full speed. I was angry at him for being such a fool. This was our first meeting after three years and he was treating me like some ragged doll he picked up from a market.

I didn't want to be around him. I didn't even want to breathe the same air he did but I was cursed to sit in the backseat of the car with a bad man like him. I was confined in space and felt suffocated and hot even if the AC was on. I sat there adjusting to a comfortable position. My lungs got filled with carbon dioxide all because I didn't want to inhale afraid that I would feel this is I wanted to bury

I noticed the driver had slowed down the car and it was at normal speed but even so it didn't change the fact that I was with Victor. The man I liked more than anything, I was thinking when I felt fingers brushing against my hand. I looked down and found Victor's hand so close to me. I shifted my eyes to look up at him and he had his gaze fixed forward before I could say anything. The man grabbed my hand and held it in his. A cold shiver ran down my spine as my heart skipped a beat

"W..what...are you doing?"I whispered the words out, not sure what he was trying to do by touching me. He didn't have any right to do that but the man tightened his grip on me such that I felt strange. All those forbidden emotions circulated throughout my body causing me to swallow hard

"Stop the car," the man said after some time and the driver obeyed and the car came to a sudden halt surprising me. I looked around and we were in the middle of the road, it was dark and isolated. "Get out," the man said coldly and I saw the driver nod as he turned off the engine and got out of the car. I didn't know what was happening but when I heard a locking sound, I grew worried as I shifted my eyes to Victor and he had that serious expression on. What was he planning to do now?

"V... Vic...I mean sir what are you doing?"I asked nervously and tried to get my hand out but he tightened his grip even more rendering me helpless. He slowly shifted his gaze to look at me and I saw something scary. He wasn't serious, was he?
