Chapter Five

Sia had no idea of how much she slept or how many hours of school time had passed by when someone roughly pushed her desk. Aroused from sleep; irritation seeped into her bones as her eyelids fluttered open glaring at the person who had shaken her table. The boy who was seated in front of her withdrew his hand immediately terrified of Sia’s glare.

She sat up and realized that half of the class was boring holes into her head and another much older man with glasses managed to bore a hole through his glasses.

“It’s your first day and you are already sleeping in my class” he said through his nose and Sia sat up fully meeting the older man’s eyes.

“What is it that you were teaching or talking about?” Sia asked, her question instantly producing green lines on the teacher’s face.

“Insolence!” he yelled banging the table. Sia looked around the class a small chuckle on her lips. Even though virtually everyone in the class was now staring at her, she was still able to depict the fact that none of them were actually listening to the teacher. She turned back to him opening her mouth as she spoke.

“I don’t think the ones awake were listening to you either” Sia muttered and the teacher glared at her angrily clutching his fists together in annoyance.

He hated this class and even further hated Sia who ruin his chances!

Getting assigned to this class had been hell for him; they neither deemed worthy enough to teach them or respect him. His classes consisted of the students doing whatever they wanted and when they were in a good mood playing pranks on him. Seeing a new student, he had thought he could use his status as a teacher to oppress her and force her to listen to him, at least of someone started, the others would follow suit with time but who knew that she was even worst that all of them combined. His chances of getting back his face with this class was already lost. He glared hatefully at Sia one more time before grabbing his book and walking out of the class. The class had seemed to be on his side immediately erupted into laughter. Sia yawned again desperate to go back to her beauty sleep when someone’s words froze her head in mid-air.

“They said you were trouble but getting into a fight with Mr Brendon says a whole lot”

Sia turned to the person who had spoken and realized that it was the girl who the class teacher had asked to show her around.

“No more sleeping time, get up” Samantha muttered and Sia stared at her like she barely understood what she was saying. Right from when she was little; Sia had always had serious problems making friends. It took a long time to find out that she had severe social anxiety and hers was tad a bit difference because it appeared whenever people were close to her.

“I’m going to show you around the school” Samantha reminded her again choosing to pull her up when Sia remained on her seat unmoving.

“Let’s go” she said as she headed for the door.

Sia knew she could seat down back on her chair and choose to resume sleeping but for some weird reason, she slipped her hands into her pockets and chose to follow Samantha earning curious looks from her classmates.

“I heard you beat some of your r=old school mates at the gate this morning” Samantha said and Sia turned to her with a slight frown.

“Are you always talking?” she asked and Samantha burst into laughter.

“Around the people I like, yes” she replied watching as Sia shot her a short look.

“People you like?” Sia asked as they walked down the rows of classrooms, most of the students peeking their heads at the duo.

“Exactly” Samantha replied.

“You just met me” Sia pointed out while they descended the stairs.

“I know right but I think we are both in a gravitational filed or rather magnetic fields and somehow, there are a lot of forces drawing me to you” Samantha replied and Sia couldn’t help the short laugh that escaped her lips.

“Oh my god!” Samantha suddenly exclaimed and Sia froze in her steps turning to her ins surprise and confusion.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

“That was sexy. Your laugh. It was hell ass sexy” Samantha replied while Sia stared at her unable to find words to reply her. No one except her mom, no one ever before had complimented her, no one had called her beautiful or pretty or anything at all but here was a stranger calling her laugh sexy. She was at loss on what to do.

“I’m supposed to say thank you?” Sia asked as they resumed walking.

“Doesn’t exactly matter. Stop acting like you don’t receive compliments that often” Samantha said grinning.

“Well I don’t” Sia replied closing her eyes for a second.

“Huh?”

“I don’t receive compliments. Only my Mom calls me beautiful and every other cheesy name you can think of”

Both Sia and Samantha paused at Sia’s statement. Samantha turned to her and raised her eyebrow. Realizing the awkwardness that was beginning to grow between them; she smiled and grabbed Sia’s hands.

“Well you have me now. Expect to receive compliments till you are in your grave” she declared winking at Sia who laughed lightly.

“So, let me show you the cafeteria first. That’s where all the drama take place and to get a good view of drama; you need a good spot” Samantha started while Sia merely nodded. There was no one she was going to tell her that she wasn’t interested in whatever happened between the students, killing Samantha’s excitement as she spoke about the kind of dramas that took place in the cafeteria wasn’t a good idea so she merely listened and nodded her head even though she could barely remember the numerous names flying out of her mouth or the world she was saying.

“All in all, what am I saying?” Samantha asked.

“You are going to enjoy every single second of your stay here” she replied winking again while Sia nodded her head. For this one point, she somewhat agreed. Because it was her first day and every single bit of her expectation had been crushed. But in a good way.
