My wounds weren’t too bad—just a few bruises and cuts—but I think my body was getting sick and tired of patching itself up so much. I didn’t have any medical supplies, so I had to make do with cleaning any cuts myself and cutting up some bedsheets as makeshift bandages. I hadn’t expected Annabelle to bring me a first aid kit or something similar because why would she? She didn’t know I had no wolf to heal me.

I ran my cuts under cold water, my blood colouring the clear liquid a pinkish colour as it ran down the sink. I wrapped the torn bedsheet around the worst of the cuts from where Poppy must’ve slashed me with her claws. She hadn’t gotten me too deeply, but enough to make me wince as I fixed myself up.

My stomach grumbled, reminding me of why I had been to the mess hall in the first place and the poor delicious dinner that ended up slathering Poppy’s face. That poor, poor dinner. But seeing the look on her face with mashed potato up her nose and gravy dripping down her head was w

The alpha stood smugly as he watched me and I bit my lip, refusing to allow myself to cry out in pain in front of him. Alpha Jackson stood tall, arms crossed sternly, his expression one full of satisfaction. What did he want? Was he going to punish me? Did he want me to beg for forgiveness? Perhaps he wanted to make a show of me, wanted me to crawl back to him and his pack just for relief from the pain he was inflicting on me."Fuck you," I hissed, fingers clawing into the dirt to ground myself. The soft dirt and bumpy pebbles were helping to distract me from the fire running through my leg. "Well that’s not very nice," he stated, walking closer towards me, eyes moving towards my leg, "it’s not very pleasant, is it? I would say I told you so, but I'm more mature than that."Gritting my teeth painfully, I stumbled to my feet, almost buckling from the pain, but I wouldn’t allow him to see me as weak, or at least any weaker than he’d already seen, "I’m not dead yet, am I?"Alpha Jackson

I tried to pull my ankle out of his grip, but he held it still, carefully examining it. I didn’t know what I could say in response. Any wolfsbane I claimed to have in my system would’ve been flushed out by now so what else was there?"Yeah, well, you put it on me whilst there was wolfsbane in my system, jackass. Maybe that had something to do with it."Alpha Jackson considered it for a minute as his eyes flashed to mine and then back to my leg. It wasn’t like he was completely convinced, but it was a reason for something unbelievable.Whilst I was trying to come up with something else to add or distract him from asking more questions as to why my pathetic body wasn’t healing and my non-existent wolf wasn’t protecting me, Alpha Jackson scooped me up into his arms. A blush rose to my cheeks and I was speechless for a minute at the gesture. His arms were strong and warm despite the cold air as he held me closely and for a split second, I felt safe. It felt like he wouldn’t drop me and wo

"why not just leave me out there? I did try to run away." I asked, the feel of his arms all the more apparent against my body as I questioned him.Alpha Jackson looked like that was something he was questioning himself. When he first found me, I thought he might have killed me or maybe just left me to suffer until I came crawling back and he could humiliate me in front of the whole pack. Or he could've taken me to the edge of the territory line and be rid of me for good. But he had come for me, maybe to gloat at first but he came. Was he only doing this now because he felt guilty about my leg? The alpha was confusing me and I didn't like being caught unaware.Either way, he had placed this silver band on my leg and warned me of what would happen and I did it anyway hoping for the best, and as angry as I was that yet another escape plan had been thwarted, I was kind of grateful that he had come for me."Christian already told you," he mumbled, as if disappointed in himself at the code

"My Goddess," Were the first words Doctor Heath muttered as he finally took a look at my leg and held it firmly with his gloved hands, ‘all this from the anklet?’ He did his best not to touch the actual wound, but the pain still radiated for a couple of inches from my ankle.I nodded, not offering anything else other than a wince. "This is almost as bad as a silver burn, any more silver in the anklet and it might have fried your whole leg off."That was not a pleasant idea to put into my head. I had seen silver burns on my father’s body, blistered and sizzling which would leave scars even as he was healed. I may not have been as affected by silver as other wolves, but it wasn't just silver in the anklet, there was magic at play there too and I had no wolf to fight off the burns. "Will it scar?" I asked lightly, picturing the injury becoming a wild white and rough line around my ankle as another scar was added to my repertoire. Another reminder of my failure and weakness. If I had my

I blinked and there I was, a forest with trees so thick and high that I could only see the sky inky night sky above me illuminated by the full white moon. I stood in the middle of a circle surrounded by trees and the moonlight sprinkled onto me like a shower. It was beautiful.I reached a hand out to grasp at the light that would slip through my fingers, but when I lifted what I thought was my hand, a white paw came into my vision, soft and new. With a yelp that I intended to be a cry, I looked down at myself and saw that it wasn’t those stupid, vulnerable human legs that I stood on, but instead, I was supported by four powerful legs that had a strong and steady grip on the earth beneath me so that not even an earthquake could topple me. My tail wagged so fiercely that I thought I would take off like a helicopter and with a brief howl of joy I chased it, wanting to see how long it was, how fluffy it was, how perfect it was. I stumbled a little bit, not used to the new speed and weigh

Alpha Jackson had returned to the infirmary for all of five seconds to give a quick overview of my leg and to place the silver anklet on my other foot before giving thanks to the doctor and heading off again. No word to me or to ask about me, though I could hardly be surprised. The doctor didn’t make any mention of my condition either or begin to discuss my dream with the alpha. When I asked him about it, he said something about ‘doctor-patient confidentiality’, which I didn’t understand. Why wouldn't he talk to the alpha about the conditions of his pack members? Everything that happened in the New Moon pack would be reported to Fredrick from when a pup was born to when a wolf died.“I’m not surprised you’re having nightmares,” Doctor Heath said, pulling me out of my thoughts as he checked on my burns one last time before he was satisfied, “you’ve been through a lot of trauma, it’s your subconscious’s way of processing that. It isn't particularly pleasant.”I only spoke briefly about

"Yeah," I mumbled, pulling myself away from her before showing off my bandaged leg, "I didn’t manage to get very far."Annabelle looked at my ankle, her gaze quickly moving to my other one with the silver anklet. Her face contorted in a sympathetic expression like she could only imagine the pain I had gone through. I doubt she had ever witnessed a silver burn before and found myself glad for it because I wouldn't wish that upon anyone."I’m sorry you felt you had to leave.""It wasn’t your fault," I reassured her hoping it would be some kind of comfort because it was true.Annabelle had been nothing but kind and gracious towards me. She was one of two people in the pack who had tried to make me feel welcome and supported me despite the circumstances that brought me to them. She had tried to defend me against Poppy and her alpha even though I was just a rogue from a dangerous pack. She had done more for me in the few hours I had known her than anyone outside of my family had even thoug

Annabelle and I carried on walking until we got to the training grounds and by Goddess was it a sight to behold. I had seen it from a distance earlier but being face to face with it made it all the more amazing. The schooling house was just around the corner and the changing rooms were just in front of the field so people were able to change just before beginning their training. The field itself was a lush green that looked like it could run on for miles stretching into the forest, a pond somewhere close by and different pieces of equipment littered against the grass such as dumbbells and hurdles. "Why are there so many things?""Oh, some people have their own private routines, others like to work in groups but combat training and regular P.T. is done as a pack.""We didn’t have mandatory pack training," I replied, watching people begin to put away their equipment. "But we did have groups get together and not everyone was exactly willing."Annabelle gave me a sad and knowing smile b

“Your form is getting much better,” Jackson commented as we continued our one-to-one training. Apparently it was more crucial than ever to get the extra training he was offering considering I was wolf-less so at any moment if there was an attack or raid from another pack I could protect myself.Once, Jackson had me up against three members of his pack shifted. I had to evade them for an hour. I was given a headstart but it didn’t do much. I was caught in ten minutes with Jackson laughing at me. He made me do it again three times before taking pity on me and calling it a day.Today we were working on my fist fighting again on the off chance I was fighting someone who hadn’t shifted. I didn’t have any weapons today to train with.“What if you can’t get your hands on one?” Jackson asked sternly as he went to punch and I went to dodge.“Then I’ll make one,” I replied. Dodging his attacks had gotten easier, and more predictable even when he did try to shake things up.“And if you can’t? I

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 61

I was starting to lose track of how many days had passed since I’d come to the Full Moon pack but it felt like I’d always been here. After Capture The Flag I seemed to gain a little bit of respect from most of the other pack members. Even Poppy’s friends were more civil to me as she started to get better.Poppy had been recovering for about a week before she started involving herself in the pack again, quieter though. She hardly looked at me anymore and I wondered if it was out of guilt for what she had nearly done or fear from what had been done to her.I was heading to the Tracker’s Den where Annabelle had been teaching and training me. It was one of the factions I was interested in joining if I was going to accept a place in the pack. The other one would’ve been the healers but I was more drawn to the idea of hunting for food, learning different animals' habits and this also faction let me keep an eye on the New Moon pack’s movements.I was working on learning what different paw pr

I was back in my house when I heard a knock at the door. I opened it up, still in my dressing gown and pyjamas as Annabelle entered my house, immediately bringing me into a tight hug.I didn’t know how to respond, so I lifted my arms and hugged her back briefly before I pulled away from her and invited her in. I knew what kind of tea she liked, so I headed silently to the kitchen to put the kettle on and sort out some drinks.I didn’t know how to start a conversation with her at that moment. I was sure she heard from Christian about what had happened the day before and I didn’t want to start off lying to her.“Christian told me,” She started as I handed her a cup of tea and we sat down on the sofa, “he said someone put Blessed Silver in your body.”“They did,” I confirmed, looking down at my cup with discomfort and guilt.Annabelle had been one of the only friends I had since the beginning of all of this and it hurt that I had to lie and mislead her when it came to my wolf. Did she fe

Poppy had been taken to the infirmary after the incident between us. The rest of my group from Capture The Flag didn’t see her attack me outright, but they had heard my screams and saw the explosion, they saw my bloodied back from obvious claw marks and saw what happened to Poppy. For everyone’s safety, Doctor Heath had injected Poppy with diluted wolfsbane whilst she was healing. She seemed more rabid than when she usually attacked me like there was no human in the wolf.In the infirmary, Poppy was the only one in the bed. Doctor Heath was double-checking her pulse and writing things on a clipboard, Clarissa stood by the door with her arms folded looking unimpressed and finally, Jackson, Christian and I entered.Poppy had a friend beside her. She held onto her hand tightly as her friend had tears welling in her eyes.Poppy looked a lot more injured than me. Half of her body looked scarred from the Blessed Silver and every movement looked like it caused her pain. My mind raced back t

His hand was soft on top of mine despite his calloused and rough skin. It was like he didn’t want to handle me too hard in case I would break.I felt as he lifted his other hand to my cheek and wiped away a stray tear that had fallen from my eyes. It was weird to be touched in such an intimate way where I was so vulnerable, but I didn’t mind it. I wanted his hand to stay there so I could feel the warmth. When we first met, I’d felt a pull to him. I thought it was my instincts telling me to be careful and wary around him, he was an alpha and all alphas were power-hungry psychos. But then things between us changed somewhere along the way. Were we even friends? More? Less?I’d never felt anything for anyone before. My relationship with Annabelle and Christian was one of friendship and for that, I knew for sure. But Jackson? I wanted to talk to him, I wanted him to leave me alone, I wanted to get to know him, and sometimes I wanted to slap him in the face.I suppose that was what a friend

“My Lady,” my father started, still holding me close to his chest. It is an honour to have you in our home.”The Moon Goddess smiled and placed a hand on my father’s shoulder before shocking everyone as she got to her knees too and held her arms out for the pup in my father’s arms.He hesitated, debating on whether to hand me over or not. He wondered whether the Moon Goddess would take me away. He didn’t care if she was a goddess, he would protect me. The Moon Goddess only smiled more kindly, not moving to force the pup from my father. My mother looked between them and gave my father a small nod, she trusted the Moon Goddess with me. So with a small breath, my father handed me over. The pup that was me whimpered as she left the comfort of her father’s arms, but The Moond Goddes waved her hand and the little wolf’s eyes became heavy and she yawned loudly before snugging into the welcoming arms of the goddess and falling asleep. My parents gaped, but my brother, thinking she had done so

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate   Chapter 56

I was dreaming again. I had gotten used to my dreams being so vivid and lifelike that it hardly phased me anymore. I could feel the difference between my regular dreams and whatever these were. It was like a feeling was telling me to pay attention, to look further into what I was being shown. That feeling had gotten stronger ever since the first piece of Blessed Silver had left my body. Maybe it was my wolf trying to tell me something. I stopped questioning these dreams a little while ago. I didn’t like what I was being shown this time, though to be fair I never really liked what I saw.I was back at the New Moon pack again, but this time I wasn’t in the Pack House. No. This time I was back home.My heart ached to see the house I’d been so familiar with, the house I grew up in, the house I saw my family’s murders. It looked different this time. Like it was newer. I wondered if someone had been moved into that house now since there was no one left to inhabit it. Maybe they’d painted,

I concentrated on listening to every twig that snapped and every leaf that rustled just in case anyone was trying to attack our flag through this route I was guarding. During my time at the tree, I could hear howling and yelping, which made me wonder how well my team was doing. Had they been able to capture a flag yet?It was boring where I stood, but without a wolf, it was where I knew I’d be the most useful and most protected. The second I saw a person or wolf from another team, I could yell, and my voice would travel to the ears of my group. Jackson had purposefully not told us how long this challenge would go on for so that we would stay alert and conserve our energy, this could end at any second or go on for as long as hours. The sun had told me an hour or so had passed by the time things had gotten interesting. I had climbed the tree every so often to get a better glimpse of my surroundings but I didn’t stay up very long because Doctor Heath had told me too intensive work cou

The team was an array of different people from the pack. Some were big and buff, others were short and fast, some looked like they were new to training and there was Poppy, looking at her nails with one of her friends fanning her in case she was too hot.I couldn’t help but wonder if this team was fucked.I'd seen some of these people in other training exercises and it was definitely a mixed bag. There might have been the smallest of chances if we worked together. But if Christian and Jackson had taken part in this training there was no telling what would happen. But I had to admit, as much as I hated being around her, Poppy was less likely to attack me if we were a part of the same team. Or at the very least there were more witnesses if she tried anything. I remembered how she had surrounded me during our Hunter and Prey training and I didn’t want to be put in that position again. I doubted her friends would be so quick to abandon her this time,We had fifteen minutes to come up with
