***Melissa's POV***Finally, it was morning and the day of the trial. At this point, I was perplexed. All those I regarded as family members loved me. Jasmine only faked forgiveness, all, so she could kill me. What offense did I really commit for them to trust me this way? Didn't I try my best to be good to them? Why do they hate me so much? What did I ever do? All of these questions played in my head as I stood right in front of the crowd for my trail. Jasmine was dragged towards where I stood by Alpha Xavier's men. “Alpha Xavier, may I know why you decided to humiliate my daughter this way?” My dad asked. Did he really know what Jasmine plotted? Could it be that he was just pretending not to know? “Exactly. Why do you have her in chains like some criminal? May I remind you that you are in my pack, and you ought to report certain things to me before you decide?”“You're right about that. However, in front of this crowd, I have two questions for the both of you.”“Beta Kyle, are
***Melissa's POV***“Everyone present, I suppose this is all the evidence you all needed.”I took my gaze downwards, years ran down my cheeks uncontrollably. I had only known that Alpha Xavier would help me defend myself. Little did I know that he was going to go through such a tedious process just to prove my innocence to everyone. “So, Alpha Caspian, what do you have to say? Do you agree that your so-called future Luna used the spell from the same witches you call abomination, on you?”Caspian was utterly speechless. He must still be in shock, just like I was. Though he was also a victim of what Jasmine did, but as my mate, he never did anything to help me, rather he moved the motion of having me killed. “Now that the truth has been revealed, we must carry out the punishment as due,” Caspian announced.“After all the evidence gathered, Miss. Jasmine is found guilty of sorcery, bringing shame and disgrace to the Lockwood pack. And lastly, attempting to take her sister's life on s
**Melissa's POV***I have been in the Vulcan pack for a month now. And in this month, I've never laid eyes on my mate. I have no idea what to call this. Why is it so impossible to see him? It was as though he planned to abandon me the moment we arrived at his Pack because this is how I feel. I heard a sharp knock on my door. I slowly got out of bed to open the door, and there stood Hana, the maid who also brought me breakfast. “Hana, how may I help you?”“The Alpha wishes to see you in his study room.”“Huh? The Alpha is finally back?” I asked wide-eyed, but the maid refused to answer me. She never answered my questions whenever I asked. It's not just her. All the other maids in the mansion do not care about me. To them, I was a special slave, which their alpha took with him from the Lockwood pack. Who am I to complain? A month since I left the Lockwood pack, I have never met troubles in the Vulcan pack. I preferred staying indoors because I enjoyed the comfort of being on my own.
***Alpha Xavier's POV***Ever since I came back from the Lockwood pack. I buried myself into work and hunting vampires at night. I literally went back to the kind of life I knew. This was the only thing that kept me going. It was better to live my life this way than think of something romantic. The only Woman I've ever loved is dead. And now. I don't have a heart to love another. I won't love another no matter what. That was my promise to Ariana.“Alpha Xavier, are you in?”“Come in, Drake.”Drake quickly walked into my study room. “How's it going? New vampires?”“Well, I didn't get any today. They seemed to be wary of our territory now.”“Well, If they are wary of our territory, we should go to theirs then.”“I intend to do that tomorrow. It's getting dark, and you know we would be advantaged if we decided to chase them now.”He's right. No matter how desperate I am to get vampires, I have to understand that my men's lives are important to me. I can't lose them to those beasts. “
***Melissa's POV***A week has passed ever since Xavier told me that I can't be his Luna. I've been in doors mostly and even when I come out of my room, I only go to one particular spot to watch the din, the moon, or the clouds. Since I can't be a Luna like I had thought I would, I think it's best to just live my life, watching the sun, the moon, and stars until the goddess days otherwise. What's more important to me right now is the peace I have. I can't lose that peace for anything in the world. As long as I have peace, I don't think there's anything for me to be worried about. I walked out of my room as usual to go see the night sky, since it was getting dark. But just as I headed there, I suddenly heard footsteps behind me. I paused and quickly turned around. “Miss Melissa, I'm sorry if I startled you. I thought you were about to go to your usual spot, and so I wanted to keep you company,” the maid I rarely saw said to me. “Huh?” “I'm the maid who brought you breakfast today.
***Melissa's POV***At midnight, I couldn't sleep in my bed. I kept rolling from one end of the bed to the next. I have a lot in mind. I wish I could find a solution to all the problems I have in my thoughts. But as it is, I don't even know where to begin. Ever since Prisca told me about the Alpha, I could hardly put my mind at ease. I blame myself for getting annoyed without finding out about his story. If I had known, I wouldn't have asked him that question in the first place. I was restless and couldn't sleep a wink, so I quickly sat up straight. What should I do now? I thought deeply. Just then. I got an idea and Immediately hopped out of bed. I headed out of my room in search of her room. If I had realized this sooner, I could have asked Prisca for directions. It was almost midnight, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to find Prisca at that moment. Well, it's not like I can go back to my room now. No matter where this room may be, I must find it. I walked further down the h
**Alpha Xavier's POV**I stood in front of my late Luna's picture. It seemed as though she was mad at me now that I looked at her picture. “Please don't get mad. I promise I will not let her know about this place ever again. This is a promise I make to you. Believe me, my love.”I took a sip of the wine I was drinking and admired the portrait of my mate. Just then. I heard the door swing open. “Who's there?” I asked without turning around to see who it was. “It's me, Drake. Can I have a word with you, Alpha.”“I don't have the time to. I want alone time with my mate.”“What about your mate, who is alive and well?”I was forced to turn around at Drake's question. “What are you talking about? There's only one Luna, and she's the woman whose portrait you see on the wall. Are you trying to make a Luna out of someone else?”“But she has always been your Luna. Why does it seem like you're trying to abandon your new mate now?”“She's not my mate. Don't make me repeat myself, Drake. If y
***Melissa's POV***This is the fifth time I have gone in the wrong direction. Have I been overconfident with the belief that I would really be able to find the place? The dungeon should be the simplest place to know in the whole of the pack, and yet I keep being lost time and time again. It only dawned on me that I had exhausted the one hour I gave myself when I heard someone call out to me. “Miss Melissa, is that you?”My heart skipped and I froze. If I was right, what is Prisca's voice? But isn't that better? What if it were someone else?I quickly turned around that instant with a smile on my face. “Prisca, is that you?” I asked with a smile as I walked over to meet her. “Yes, it's me. I'm shocked to see you around here. Did you just come out of your room? Do you need anything, perhaps?”Oh, gosh! Where exactly am I supposed to start explaining from? “Well, yea…” I trailed off that very instant, looking for somet
