After a series of searching, Yvette felt so relieved that she had some clothes that she can bear to wear in her twin’s pile of clothes. It was those clothes that she sends her whenever she goes shopping but she never saw Yvonne wear them because she said that the clothes were too revealing for her.

She ended up choosing a yellow sleeveless tank top and white chiffon shorts. Casual but stylish.

After that, she went out of the room to go to the kitchen. But as she was walking downstairs, her steps halted midway when she saw the door open and it revealed a man in corporal attire.

It was the Clyde Smith.

Seeing his figure right in front of her eyes, Yvette can’t help but grit her teeth and clench her fist in anger.

So, this is what a devil incarnate looks like in person, huh?

She saw how one of the guards, who entered the mansion with him, whisper something to his ear which made him glance in her direction and all of a sudden, they were meeting each other’s gaze. His eyes were void of any emotion and that’s the same as hers.

After seconds of staring, Clyde removed his gaze from her and whispered something back to the guard beside him, who gave him a bow before taking their leave. Yvette, on the other hand, took that chance to continue walking downstairs.

“You’re here,” Clyde spoke.

“Obviously,” She sassily responded.

Clyde wasn’t able to speak for a moment because he took his time in observing the figure of his wife in front of him. He looked at her from head to toe. Yvette saw that and that made her cross her arms above her chest.

“What’s with the staring, Mr Smith?”

There’s that Mr Smith again.

“You look… different.” It wasn’t a question nor a compliment. It was just a pure statement. Nonetheless, it made Yvette smirk.

“How different?” She asked with a taunting voice. “Good different or bad different?”

Instead of giving attention to his wife’s question, he’s more curious and bothered by her change of attitude. How come his soft-spoken and conservative wife, turned into a feisty and sexy one in a span of a month?

Wait, did he just say sexy?

“Forget it.”

“Oh, come on, would it hurt you to give me an answer?” Yvette insisted. To be honest, she wasn’t doing it for Clyde’s answer but because she just wanted to annoy him like what she did a while ago in their call. But the guy wasn’t having it.

Instead of answering her, Clyde just ignored her question again and just look at her intensely.

Yeah, something definitely changed.

Without saying anything, he just walked past his wife to go upstairs. He just came from work and he’s tired. He needs rest and thinking about what happened to his wife while she was gone won’t help him get that. Also, why does he seem so concerned again about Yvonne’s changes? He shouldn’t care, right?

“Asshole,” Yvette uttered in annoyance that made Clyde stop taking another step.

“What did you just say?” Clyde looked back at Yvonne.

“I said, you’re an Asshole. Why?” She raised one of her brows. “Aren’t you?”

For the nth time today, Clyde was speechless. Yes, he knows that he’s an asshole most of the time but Yvonne actually has the guts to call him that in his face?

Obviously, she has. You just heard him, stupid.

“What really happened to you, Yvonne?” He asked, confused. “The last time I saw you, you were not like this.”

“Oh, you mean the time when I rarely speak because I chose to keep quiet instead of saying things out loud?” Yvette smirked once again. “Well, Mr Smith, people change. And that’s what happened to me while I was gone. I changed.”

“But not a sudden change,” he countered. “I don’t believe that you can change that quick in a month.”

Yvette sarcastically chuckled. “Believe want you wanted to believe, Mr Smith. Why are you even worked up if I change or not? Since when did you care about me?”

“But you’re still my wife.” Yvette didn’t even hide the disgust on her face when Clyde said that.

“What a bullshit, Mr Smith.” She gave him a ‘duh’ look.

“Stop calling me Mr Smith, Yvonne,” he firmly said. “I have a name and you know that.”

“And if I don’t want to?” she taunted once again. “You can cheat on me but I can’t call you whatever I want? Isn’t that unfair, Mr Smith?”

Clyde’s brows furrowed upon hearing his wife’s words.

Did she just say cheat? How did she…

“What are you even saying? I’m not cheating—”

“Another bullshit.” The playful expression on Yvette’s face was now gone. It was replaced by a cold one.

Wow, this guy really dares to lie in front of her face? Well, to be fair, she’s also lying to him by pretending to be her sister. But cheating will never be fair.

“But, yeah, maybe this is the price of agreeing to marry you. Don’t worry, I’ll deal with your shits.”

Clyde’s mouth slightly gaped as he stared at his wife. “Are you for real?”

“Well, unlike you, I know how to stick with my words.”

“I’m telling you, Heron, he’s not my wife.” Clyde insisted on his friend who is currently in-call with him. The guy on the other line just shook his head and chuckled.

“Bro, are you sure that you didn’t drink? You sounded drunk.”

“Fucker, I already told you that I didn’t!”

“Woah, Woah! Fine. Calm your ass down. Sheesh…”

“Trust me, bro, Yvonne really changed.”

“Hmm, you already said it, Clyde. Your wife was gone for a month. Though it seems impossible a lot of things can happen in a month. So, it’s possible that your wife did change in those days that she was away from you.” His friend calmly stated.

“But it wasn’t just a subtle change, Heron. It was like she became the opposite of the Yvonne that I knew.”

“And so? What is it to you that she changed? As far as I know, you’re the husband who doesn’t give a damn about her wife because you said that she took your freedom away,” Heron pondered which made Clyde shut up.

Clyde took a deep breath and shut his eyes tightly before exhaling harshly.

“You’re right... You’re fucking right.”
