Chapter Six

"Is that possible?" Sarita was stunned. "There is not one soul on this earth that does not lie."

"Not Vikrant." Kaly's grin widened.

"I don't believe you." Her eyes narrowed. "Don't ask him."

"You know I will." Kaly winked.

Sarita knew she couldn't talk her friend out of it so she gave up. "Just don't tell me what he says."

Kaly stared at her friend. "You're so..." She paused. "Grrr!" She bared her teeth.

Sarita laughed. "You love me anyway." She smiled cheekily at her.

"Unfortunately." Kaly mumbled.

*******

Kalyani's smile widened as Vikrant grudgingly sat down in front of his laptop with a death glare directed at her but she wasn't intimidated. He refused to pick her calls so she'd decided to do a video call.

"If you'd only picked my calls then I wouldn't have to see your ugly face." She told him. "So deal with it."

"This better be important." He growled. He'd had to pause his video game to answer her summons. If he didn't, she'd never let him hear the last of it. Her sister was nowhere near as troublesome as she was.

"Oh it is." She said, "Who gave you the right to read my diary? It's called a diary for a reason. It's supposed to be private."

"I didn't read anything." He shrugged carelessly. "I was just looking for your password."

"To what?" She snapped. "Why would I have written my password in my diary?"

"Am I missing my game for this?" He scowled at her. "It's been six years, Yaya."

"I'll have my revenge." She promised through gritted teeth.

"Good luck with that." He murmured in a bored voice. "Can I go now?"

"What do you think of Sarita?" She asked.

"Anu? Why?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Is she beautiful?" Kaly inquired. "She's... very insecure about that."

"Why would she be insecure?" He huffed. "She's fucking beautiful. Ten times more beautiful than you, Yaya."

Kaly glared at him before a smile appeared almost immediately. "I'm immune to your harsh words my dear cousin." Her glare returned. "You're not lying to me, are you?"

"I never lie." He said, deadpan.

"Have you ever tried lying?" Kaly wondered.

"Get off my screen, Yaya." He ordered.

"Tch." She hissed, smiled and went offline. She took her phone, opened up her message icon and typed; "I told you Vikrant never lies Rita. He said and I quote; She's fucking beautiful, ten times more beautiful than you, Yaya. Believe me now?" She sent the message and laughed as she imagined what Sarita's reaction would be.

Heck! She didn't have to imagine - she knew what it would be.

~~~~~
Sarita sat in the auditorium, watching Raj talk to the boy who was the male lead in the school play. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and his tie was loose around his neck as he gesticulated with his hands the way he wanted the boy to act and she blushed as she thought of going up to him, calling his name and then kissing him immediately he turned to look at her.
"You could do it." Her subconscious mind taunted. "You could do it but you're too much of a coward."
A different scent permeated the air around her and she frowned as she felt the hair on the back of her neck rise. This was a scent her nose was very familiar with because only one person used that particular cologne; Vikrant Suryavanshi.
She turned around in her seat, knowing he was the one but she was still surprised to see him seated next to her with his legs crossed and his arms folded across his chest. He was dressed in the black suit pants sans jacket and his hair was wet as if he'd just come out of the shower.
"You spaced out again." He chided.
"I was... thinking." She murmured. "How was basketball practice?"
"Good." He said. "So you're part of the drama club?"
"Yes." She nodded. "Are you looking for someone?"
"No." He looked at her then. "I just thought I'd come see what the drama club is all about."
"So, which club are you a part of?"
"Myself and I club." He smirked.
Sarita chuckled. "Be serious."
"I'm not part of any club. I only use my energy for two things." He lifted two of his fingers. "Want to know what they are?"
"What?" She was sure she wouldn't like whatever he'd tell her.
"Come here." He made a come hither motion with his finger.
Sarita hesitated but she leaned in towards him and she shivered as she felt his hot breath near her ear. "Basketball and..." He paused.
"And?" She turned her head to look at him and gasped as she realized how close their mouths were. If she moved one more inch towards him, they'd kiss.
His gaze fell to her lips, stayed there for a few seconds before he looked back up into her eyes. He'd probably give anything to know how she tasted. Her lips were pink and full... almost pouty even.
"Mayank?"
"Sex." He blurted out. He was thinking about it and he realized that he actually wanted her. He'd met her just yesterday but he wanted her. The only flaw was that he didn't go after girls - they came after him and Miss Madhav didn't look like a girl who'd go after a boy.
He watched her flinch and pull back unconsciously and he figured that he was right. She'd probably not even had her first kiss yet.
"I... Um..." She fidgeted in her seat.
"Relax, I'm just kidding." He sent her a lopsided grin. "You look very flustered all of a sudden."
"Sarita." Raj called.
"Yes?" She jumped to her feet immediately and made her way to the stage.
"Let's take it from the top." He told her. "Hey dude." He waved at Vikrant. "I'm surprised to see you here."
"I'm leaving." Vikrant rose to his feet. "Will you be up for a game later?"
"You know I am." Raj said.
Vikrant gave a curt nod and left. He knew he shouldn't have told her that, but it had been exactly what he'd been thinking and he just blurted it out. He didn't think that she'd be repulsed by that. He frowned as Kalyani's question last night filtered through his mind.
"Have you ever tried lying?"
He'd tried it once... when he was ten years old. He'd broken one of his cousin's many trophies and lied against Kalyani. He'd gotten away with it at that time but immediately he got to his room, he'd been so nauseated by the thought that he'd puked his guts out before he could make it to the bathroom.
Kalyani had caught him in the act, figured out the truth and yelled at him and then she told him a truth that he'd never forgiven her for.  After that day, he vowed never to tell lies and he'd kept to it.
