Gwen's POV

"You have not stopped crying since yesterday, Gwen. You are injured, and it is not good for you," Jane said, holding my hands.

I sat on the sofa staring at the ceiling.

My well-being was the last thing I was thinking about. I had only a scratch on my head, but my son has a hole in his heart.

“I had the money Jane, but they just took it away from me. Why are people so cruel?” Tears poured down my cheeks in a hot stream.

"We will figure something out, I promise," she reassured me.

Ricky stood by the door, watching us. One could see how upset he was. He blamed himself for not being there to protect me.

This was entirely my fault; I never should have gone there alone. It was too late now, the money for my boy's treatment was gone.

“Ricky and I will be going back to Oklahoma later today. Granny said Ethan's health is not improving” I took a deep breath.

“I should be there with him.”
