Set Up

Raul made a sound on the table with his two middle fingers, his head remaining bowed, even when he heard the door of his office open and shut behind him. He already knew who it was, by scent.

“Are they all gone?”

Roland sighed, settling down on one of the seats facing the big mahogany table. “Yes. They have all left, down to the last one of them. Alpha Jackson had tried to cause a ruckus, by trying to convince Jeremy to go with him, but the lad is set on staying wherever Olivera is.”

Raul scoffed. Those two; he was going to separate them.

“..although I don’t understand why he is set on the lad following him? We both know that he isn’t going to treat him well.” Roland muttered, more to himself, then as if speaking with Raul.

“Well, that is because of Jeremy’s strength. He will probably keep the boy as a pack warrior to boost his ranks. All things being equal, the lad should have been the alpha of the pack. His parents had been killed when he was still a teen, and so the uncle had
