Chapter One hundred and four

The alarm clock chimed the hour of seven. Kathy checked her flight appointment, and a pout formed on her mouth, a frown drawing crooked lines on her forehead.

She packed all of her things together, making sure she didn’t leave anything behind. She somehow thanked her stars that they had not gotten married; it would have made things harder for her.

She called in one of the workers, one of the few she trusted. “Helen, help me wheel this thing downstairs.”

She looked surprised and asked politely. “Ma’am, where are you going?”

“Where does it seem to be? I’m going back to my parent’s house. I’m done with your boss.”

The look of bewilderment appeared on her face, but she lifted the bag without further questioning, struggling with the weight of the heavy load as she pulled down the stairs.
