SOUTH AFRICA, CAPE TOWN The heavy breeze from the sea blew across the tall curtains on the walls. With the sun shining radiantly, they stood by the windows gazing at the rocky sea which was distances away from the house. They could see a few people walking to and fro at the sandy shore, including fishermen who were preparing their nets to be cast into the sea. “Nice view you’ve got here,” Daren said to his wife who was standing beside him with her face beaming with a smile. “I’ve always loved this place. Dad and I usually come over here for vacations when I was still so young,” she said with her voice spilling emotions. He sighed and took hold of her hand. “I’m sorry for everything I’ve put you through,” he said as he looked at her face. “Daren, you should stop saying that. We’ve always stuck together despite the challenges and I know you will always be here for me,” she said with a wry smile on her lips. He heaved a sigh and walked slowly to her back. He stood behind her
In the beautifully lit up garden, their voices could be heard as they chatted and laughed over dinner. It was dark and only their voices could be heard all over the place. “See, you regained your beauty just after I made you feel good in bed,” he said, looking into her smiling face. She was wearing a white lingerie over black skimpy skirts with her natural black hair falling on the sides of her face. “Look at you, I’ve always been beautiful,” she argued as she picked her meat with a fork. “Argue with the hands,” he said while showing her his hands and she sneered in his face. They both laughed and continued eating their food slowly. Just then, she began to feel pains in her waist down to her abdomen and she held her waist tightly. “Love, are you okay?” He asked as he saw the tight look on her face. She didn’t respond and he dropped his spoon as he saw her twisting on her seat. “Love,” he called again. “Argh,” she winced as the pain became unbearable. “Love!” He voiced
It was a bright beautiful morning as the mild morning sun settled on the window blinds. Her dry lips broke into a smile as she saw Daren walking into the ward, holding balloons and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. She could see the warm smile on his face as he approached the bed, dressed handsomely in a black turtleneck long sleeve top and black pants. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy, when the skies are gray. You never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away,” he sang beautifully as he walked to the bed and kissed her forehead tenderly. Mrs Thambisa and her daughter couldn’t help but gush from where they sat beside the bed. “Good morning, sunshine,” he said with a smile as he looked into her pale face. “Morning, love,” she said with a smile as he caressed her forehead. She took the flowers from him and smiled as they looked into each other’s eyes. “How is my baby May doing?” He asked as he walked over to the cradle. “Sh
A MONTH LATER Her beautiful face beamed with a smile as she stepped down from the jet with her husband beside her. They were both beautifully dressed in red native Buba attires and they could hear the crowd clamoring their names as they stepped down from the jet majestically. Mrs. Selina could be seen walking behind them with the baby firmly in her hands as she waved at the crowd who were cheering at them. It was a beautiful atmosphere at the Taiwo’s mansion as different kinds of exotic cars could be seen moving into the mansion. Men and women, elegantly dressed could also be seen moving to and fro at the entrance of the banquet hall which was beautifully decorated. There was a loud cheer from the people as the black Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of the banquet hall. Cameras and flashlights became the order of the day as they all stepped out of the car and proceeded to the banquet hall. They were welcomed by the local music band as they stepped into the beautifully decorated hal
She hastened her footsteps as she walked along the lit up passage where she could see a few people in front of the restrooms. Some waved at her and she waved back with a forced smile on her face. With her heart pounding so fast, she scanned her eyes all through the passage in search of Rita. Jerry’s presence is no good, she thought as she increased her steps. “Mommy May,” she heard a voice behind her and she turned to see Rita standing in the middle of the passage, staring at her. “Oh, thank God I found you,” she cried in relief as she walked back towards her. “Are you okay?” Rita asked as she saw the anxious look on her face. “Rita, I’m in soup!” She cried hysterically. “Meaning?” She asked, looking puzzled. “Jerry is back!” She exclaimed in whispers and she shrieked backwards Immediately. She began to pace in front of her with her hand cupped on her chin. “And..Is he here?” She asked in confusion. “Yes! He came to Daren and I. And gosh, that psycho almost put me i
She sighed tiredly as she walked into the room with Daren following behind her, carrying the baby. She sat on the bed dejectedly with her face downcasted. “Love, the baby needs a bath,” she heard him say as he placed the baby on the bed. She could see him undressing the baby who was about to cry and she smiled wryly. Daren had proved to be a very caring and supportive husband. With him beside her, she was pulling through her postpartum days easily. She thought about Jerry and her heart skipped. Why does everything have to happen this way? She thought and her eyes welled up. “Love,” Daren called again as he stood up right and he could see her staring at the baby. She raised her head towards him and stood up at once. “The baby needs a bath,” he reminded. “Oh,Um..yeah,” she muttered and took the baby from him. He stood for a moment watching as she proceeded to the bathroom with the baby. What possibly could be wrong with Melisa? He thought. After having a good night shower
It was fully sunrise when she arrived at the mansion. As she stepped into the house hurriedly, the cry of baby May sounded in her ears. “Lisa!” She heard Elsa Boseman’s harsh voice calling behind her. She froze for a moment and turned slowly to see her sitting in the dining room with baby May in her arms. “Where have you been?!” She thundered. “Mom..Mom..I,” she stammered as she walked to the dining room. “Speak and stop the stammering!” She yelled with her brows gathered together. “I went to visit Rita, my friend. She was sick and there was no one to look after her. I had to take her to the hospital,” she lied. “And you had to leave May behind?” She asked angrily. “No..mom..it was too early to take her along,” she explained and Elsa sighed. “She needs your attention,” she said as she handed the baby over to her. “Thank you, mother,” she said. She turned and saw Daren walking down the stairs. He was dressed in a black suit and tie, with his brogue shoes leaving tr
Their laughter echoed on the rooftop where they sat at the resort, with a few drinks on the round table before them. It was evening and an afrobeat music could be heard playing in the background of the bar. “Daren, I’m really so happy for you. I can’t wait for the company to be fully handed over to you,” Evan said with a smile. He adjusted the collar of his dress as he sipped from his beer. “Thank you, Evan,” he said with a smile. “You know, you’re so fortunate to be born in a golden family, with a silver spoon in your mouth. I mean, you don’t have to toil hard like the rest of us before you reach greater heights. I’m really so happy for you, man,” Evan said again. “Well, it’s not as easy as you think. Like this one, I had to work for it,” he said with a chuckle and they both laughed. “Look at you, What work did you do except for the work you usually do in the bedroom?Ehh?” Evan asked with laughter and they both laughed uncontrollably. He heaved a sigh and his face beamed
