The Drive
Silver pushed past the tables, struggling to balance the drinks in her hands, and careful to not trip on her own foot. She could see that the man that had made the order for the group, already had his eyes on her and that made her shiver in fear. His lingering gaze too piercing for comfort. Silver couldn’t read the expressions that danced through his face and that made it even harder for her to bear. Not knowing what he was thinking about caused her chest to hurt. She placed the tray of drinks carefully on the table, sinking in on herself as a couple other members of the group raised their head to acknowledge her. She noticed though, how the powerful man with beautiful blue eyes that she had been looking at earlier, kept typing furiously on his phone and didn’t bother to acknowledge her, not even for a second.“Your drinks, sir.” She said in a voice barely above a whisper, scared that if she spoke louder, she might be punished for it. They looked like the kind of people to do such. As soon as the tray touched the table, she turned around and left far more quickly than she arrived. Not bothering to check if the need anything else. Wanting nothing more than to be away from the men as soon as possible. She noticed how easier it was to breathe as soon as she left the presence of the men. Doing her best to avoid their table, she went about serving the tables furthest from the group.Rodriguez picked a glass from the tray that had been placed in the middle of the table. Wondering when the waiter had brought the drinks. He had heard a tiny voice speak at some point but didn’t bother to pay any attention to it. He swirled the glass in his hand, enjoying how the contents of the glass swished from side to side. The aroma from the drink did a lot to soothe his mind.Rodriguez was aware of just how much attention he and his group were getting in the bar. He was used to this sort of attention though, it happened everywhere that they went, being at the top of whatever industry you ran would get you that sort of attention. Movies, fashion, music and even the Mafia. He ignored the eyes that seemed to be watching his every move and turned his eyes to address his men.“Gentlemen, what we have got here is the last piece of the puzzle.” He says, holding up to the view of only the members of the round table, a single flash drive. Looking through the faces of each of his men to capture their reactions. He seemed satisfied with whatever he seemed to have found.“Thanks to Jared, we have been able to infiltrate through the last of the barriers, and with this, it is on to the next stage.” Rodriguez continued, giving a slight nod of acknowledgment to his second in command who was sitting next to him.Rodriguez could easily be described as the most powerful Mafia Don. Ruthless sounded like a word meant for child’s play when it came to describing how he could get. Everyone that offended him, never lived a day to tell the story and full grown men quavered in his presence. His reputation as the most dangerous man to ever cross paths with, preceded him wherever he went. He spared no one that dared to do wrong by him any mercy and till this day not a single soul lived as an exception to that rule.Rodriguez continued to address his men, passing the drive to Jared for safe keeping once he was done explaining it’s content to the men before him. He drank from his glass enjoying the way it’s content, tickled his tongue and caused his chest to burn after swallowing it. Once he was done with his drink, he pulled out his wallet, dropping a few bills on the table and standing to leave. The rest of his men, moving to do the same. He took a quick sweep of the bar and enjoyed the way, the atmosphere quieted down and the way the people seemed to avert their eyes by bowing their heads. No one wanting to lock eyes with the powerful man.As soon as the group stepped out through the doors. Silver felt as though the pressure in her lungs had finally disappeared. It became a lot easier to breathe and her forehead and palms didn’t feel as sweaty anymore. She frowned when she realized the pressure she had felt with their presence in the bar. Silver knew she didn’t do well with authoritative presence or intimidating people, but she wasn’t sure why that feeling seemed to triple in her chest with these particular group of men. She made a mental note to ask Ethan about the men, sometime during her shift. She moved towards the table they once occupied to clear of the glasses and wipe down the table. Just as she began to clear off the glasses, a small black device caught her attention, she moved closer to the table, taking the device in her hands, she noticed it was a flash drive. Her eyes widen at the realization. This must belong to the men.Dropping the rag onto the table top, she moves with as much speed as her short legs would allow. Running towards the exit, in hopes of catching up with them. Just as she runs into the car park, she sees the last of their group speed off along the other three cars that were onto the road already. She knew it was no use running after the cars: she wouldn’t get far at all with the speed they were moving at. Turning the device this way and that in her small hands, she decides to keep it, just in case the men came back for it. She slips the drive into her pockets turning around to head back into the bar.Unknowing to her that it was more than a drive and she was just about to turn her world upside down.Missing Flash drive“What do you mean you lost it?” Rodriguez roared in rage at Jared. The other man taking a step back, looking at the table that stood between himself and Rodriguez wondering if it was enough to shield him from the older guy’s wrath. “I thought I put it back into the brief last night but it seems I didn’t.” Jared replied, doing his best to sound like he wasn’t shaken to the very core by the anger that poured out of Rodriguez in waves. He knew all too well what happened when his boss lost his temper. No one wanted to be at the receiving end of Rodriguez wrath. Taking another step back, to put even more distance between himself and the fuming Rodriguez, like that would help the situation. He cleared his throat once, twice, before facing Rodriguez once more. Pleading for mercy with his eyes. “I had a couple of our men try to retrace our steps from the last time we saw it at the bar till we got back to the house, and there was nothing.” He replied scratching lightly at
Stalking HerAs he sat in his car, watching, waiting. He tapped an impatient finger on the wheel in front of him, waiting for her. A sadistic smile spreading on his lips at the though of how much torture he was about to dish. This one will be a good one, he could just feel it. Silver shook her head at her obviously wrong decision to drive, the entire parking lot was filled and she could just guess how packed the mall would be at this time. She sighed defeatedly, regretting why she had even agreed to meet Elina here. While her best friend was the outgoing, extroverted, and loud between them, she was the complete opposite, shying away from crowds, noise and the lot. Sighing once more she backed her car into the street and parked close to the end of it, grumbling to herself about how she’d have to walk the long distance to and from the mall. She checked her image in the mirror once before finally exiting her car, locking the doors behind her and tucking her keys into her bag. A sudden
The Phone Calls Silver and Elina finished their food, making their way out of the diner and back into the mall, holding hands like typical female best friends“Thank you for paying, you didn’t have to.” Silver said quietly to Elina. “Oh come on! It’s my treat, besides I invited you.”Elina replied, in her ever cheerful voice. “Now let’s go shopping! Come on!” She quirked pulling Silver with more force than required. Silver wasn’t difficult to pull in the first place, she was as light as a feather. “I don’t really need anything.” Silver shrugged, chewing on her bottom lip. Elina scoffed in response, rolling her eyes and shaking her head. “You’re a girl honey, you always need something.” She dragged Silver into the nearest store, eyeing up the different clothing, as she traced her fingers along the different dresses, studying them, eyes shining with excitement.“This one here, this is nice. Goes with your sweet brown skin.” Announced Elina, holding up a pretty yellow summer dress,
Living in FearRodriguez sat in his office, tapping his fingers on the closed MacBook in front of him. He flexed his fingers, the urge to strangle something or someone was overwhelming. Huffing in annoyance he squeezed his eyes shut to try and get his dark urges under control. He had worked tirelessly for the information that he had gotten. Putting his life on the line, betraying alliances; this one he was sure would come back to bite his ass, but having the complete operation had been a sure way to calm them. Knowing that some things had been done for the greater good of all was the only thing that had been needed to restore peace, but he didn’t have that anymore. Things were about to fall apart for him, and he’d be damned if he let that happen. Swiveling in his chair, he faced the floor to ceiling windows. That had been the best addition to his office. Something about being able to watch the world around you without being watched gave him a surge of power. He enjoyed that sort of t
KidnappedSilver took a sweep of her room once more, checking for clues other than the missing drive that there had been another person in her room. And not a single thing looked out of place, even her laptop sat in the exact spot that she left it.Tears pricked at her eyes and her plump lips wobbled in utter desolation as she it dawned on her, just how much of her little world was falling apart in the space of one day. Had it been the flash drive all along? Was it the Russian men after her? The man at the mall, was he a part of their group? She didn’t recognize him as one of the men she had seen a night before though, so maybe he was sent by them? She picked her favorite teddy from the bed, it was a small bear that had once been white but had faded with wash and time, it had being a gift from a special person in her past. The little brown eyes of her bear brought back memories that she didn’t want to indulge at the moment, not with the chaos happening around her. It helped to comfo
Meeting the Mafia DonRodriguez stared at the tiny figure in front of him, and he couldn’t understand for the life of him the conflicting thoughts that ran through his mind. For the last couple of days all that had mattered to him was finding the Drive and torturing the person who had taken it till death.Right now all that will and contempt had gone out the window the moment that he had set his eyes on the girl. He still didn’t have the Drive and that just drove him insane, but Silver had been the last one to be seen with it and he had her, but for some goddamn reason he couldn’t find it in himself to lay a finger on her. Not when she looked so vulnerable, pure and innocent. Instead he stood across the room from where she sat, tied to her chair and watched her sleep.Silver felt the headache first, wincing at the discomfort that came with it. She felt stiff, like she had been sitting in a spot for days. Her entire body burned from the pain. She tried to open her eyes, but it felt dif
Becoming A Slave“Boss?” Rodriguez was snapped out of his reverie by the sound of Jared’s voice. His second in command had come into his office with some business details that he had to attend to and in the middle of his droning on about how important some of the details were, his mind had slipped back to the young girl, tied in the room downstairs. Silver. He couldn’t get the image of her wobbling lips, shining eyes and her little tongue out of his mind and it drove him mad. He had requested that she be moved from the chair to a more comfortable mattress on the floor and that she be fed twice daily. He wasn’t quite sure about what to do with her, but letting her go wasn’t an option he was considering at all.“That girl Jared, what do you suggest I do to her? She obviously doesn’t have the Drive anymore, do you advice I let her go?” Rodriguez asked his second in command, looking to the younger man with pleading eyes, it almost felt like he was trying to plead with Jared to solve this
A New LifeSilver was slowly adjusting to her life in the empire. Serving Rodriguez. It wasn’t a difficult job to be honest. There were more than enough maids in the house that took care of a lot of things and all she had to do was present them to him, or clean them. The past one week had been more than awful, and although she had to be serving him, she usually did her best to avoid contact with him, keeping interactions to the barest minimum. She would wait till he left for the office before she would go to clean his room and so on. Silver hated having her freedom taken away, Although she could see the light shining outside the windows during the day, she wasn’t allowed to step a foot out not even to feel the sun on her skin. And it upset her more than she could express. She missed her life, missed her friends especially Elina, she missed working at the bar. Which surprised her as she really didn’t enjoy her job that much, but the absence of it made her crave it, the normalcy that ca
