Chapter Seven

Ana's POV

"No, everything's fine, I'll tell Marcela to heat up dinner for you," I said, getting up and leaving the bedroom.

The truth was it was 9:15 and I had eaten many hours ago thinking he would not arrive, so days ago I had told Marcela not to make food for Gabriel since he always ended up voting.

He was upstairs taking a bath. I prepared a nice dinner for him and put some on a plate for me, I did not want to leave him alone in the dining room, being there in silence usually frightens me.

When I went downstairs the food was already served and Gabriel started to eat, I think if I keep eating like this I will start to roll, who knows, I could also end up in the bathtub with Gabriel giving us a bubble bath or I could be taken to jail for raping my husband, a laugh escaped me because of my crazy thoughts. This man is untouchable, after dinner I picked up all the ducks and took them to the kitchen and left everything in the dishwasher.

It was so exhausting and I really didn't know where we would end up.

In the morning I looked at some products online because I wanted to change some things in the decor that I didn't like and Gabriel had told me that it was my decision, it was my house and I could do what I wanted.

The ringing of the doorbell distracted me a little, nobody used to come to this house, I hadn't seen my parents since the wedding and it was always just Gabriel and me, Marcela, who opened the door and I could hear Natalia's cheerful voice.

"Ana, my friend," I call out, so loud that I hope I don't go deaf.

"Natalia, how are you, how did you know where I live," I hugged my friend, happy to see someone different.

"I'm very well, Ana, since you went on your honeymoon and came back she's more changed, you don't even call me anymore, besides Andres wouldn't talk to me about you when I called him," she said pouting.

"Come on, let's go into the living room and talk a little, I've missed you." I took her hand and walked with her to the living room, sitting down next to her on the couch, "I'm sorry for not calling you Natalia, but I've been busy," "I lied," everything happened so fast, Gabriel has been working a lot and I didn't think he would spend enough time at home.

"Is Ana treating you well?" he asked and I wanted to tell him the truth. "I'm sorry to come to this so late, but my trip to Miami I know to track more and I couldn't come by the time you will arrive from the honeymoon, today as soon as I heard you were in this house I came running, I heard it from your father I had to go to him."

"Calm down Natalia, nothing in this marriage is so well said," I sighed, "the day of the honeymoon he ran out of the hotel when his phone rang and didn't come back, I spent a month alone with the driver in a hotel, most of the time I didn't leave the room, I was so ashamed."

"What did you say, Ana," she shouted, standing up, "he was supposed to share with you, then why did he marry you, wasn't it that you were going to be friends...?

"Be quiet, Natalia, I don't want him to hear you, Gabriel is in the study." Nervously I looked everywhere.

Gabriel's POV

I had had a very busy and somewhat bitter afternoon, mom was driving me crazy with her arguments, which had become routine since I married Ana. Everything was going relatively well, but for mom it didn't seem like the marriage had calmed her doubts and worries.

I finished my bath and went out to get some comfortable clothes to continue working in the studio for a while, today Ana was very silent, the truth is that since we returned from the honeymoon she has not asked or demanded anything, I was waiting for her to ask me why I left her alone in the hotel, but she did not ask me anything and since then we have ignored each other.

Because I had no face to tell her the truth!

I know she's curious to know what's going on between us. But I'm not ready to talk to her, I still want to give her space so that she doesn't feel like she's in a marriage where she's trapped.

When I finished getting ready, I went downstairs because I was starving, Marcela had told me that she would prepare the food early today because she had to go to her son's house, besides she told me that the continuous meals that I had for dinner when she arrived late were prepared by Ana, the truth is that took me by surprise, I had no idea that she could cook.

When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I heard a voice that was familiar to me from the wedding day, this girl is called Natalia, the blonde lover of world travel, as I knew they were best friends and see them arguing about something that I did not understand I found interesting.

I knew the blonde because the day of the wedding Ana made me dance with her one of the songs and the truth was not bad, the girl was pretty but not as much as Ana.

"Be quiet Natalia, I don't want her to hear you or get angry with me, things are already too tense to add fuel to the fire," Ana said.

Curious, I stayed at the bottom of the stairs where I could hear them and they could not see me.

"How can I keep quiet Ana, what happened to you, you could have left with Lían, but you stayed here with this idiot who said he was your friend and would give you a divorce in two years, but you know something, I don't think it will end that quickly, open your eyes, if he has another woman, take the risk and leave him".

"But he is my husband Natalia, I married him and I gave him my word that it would only be two years, please, lower your voice and stop having an opinion on this, I know you are worried but understand me Natalia," from Ana's voice I knew she could start crying any moment.

"All right," Natalia said sharply, "do what you want, go on with this lie of being friends, let's see how it ends while you're still here tied up with no way out."

"You better leave Natalia," Ana tried to get her friend out of the house so I moved a little so they would notice my presence. "Gabriel is about to come down for lunch and I don't want him to hear any of this, I want to be the one to solve his marital problems."

When they both turned in surprise to see me standing there, I could only smile slightly.

"Good evening, ladies," I greet them and continue on my way to the dining room.
