Chapter Five

Freya's POV.

Two weeks later, I remain alive. My days are either filled with touring around the Kingdom to learn of the origin and meaning of each creation, visiting the library to learn about the royals in my pack, playing the piano, learning how to brew herbal teas to stay in shape, wearing corsets to practice, having books on my head as I catwalk as I needed to walk perfectly, training my smile, or crying in my room whenever I am reminded that my mate had lied to me right from the first night we met.

I should have known. I mean, he isn't called the cruelest Alpha of all time for a joke. What did I think? That he'd be proud of me as his mate?

I have just finished training my walk, and I dropped the light cube on my head for the maids to pack. Before I leave the room, I perform courtesy to both my teacher and the Elder, who's up the stairs, watching my move.

Outside the walls, I finally move my neck around and release my shoulders to swing as they want, not conscious of every part of my body any longer.

"I think I might die at this point." I tell Miss Due, and she laughs. By the way, she has been my friend for a week now. I wouldn't want to be alone, and since Cat isn't around, I guess I have to learn to survive on my own. It helps with the longing I have for Nicholas.

Entering my room, I quickly close the door and pull Miss Due to the bed. "Please, tell me any news about Nicholas." She shakes her head, giving me a pitiful look.

"I'm sorry, Luna. I am yet to hear anything from any bird."

I close my eyes to stop myself from diving into depression again. I sniffle and nod my head. "I'll get ready for breakfast." I say this and nod my head at her.

Lightly, she bowed and prepared to leave. She, too, will not tell me where Nicholas is, and it's getting frustrating at this point. I feel like I would go crazy, as my level of anger at needing at least a person to rightfully hear me tears me apart.

My head feels drowsy for a second, and before I know it, I hear an echo. It's Miss Due. She's calling me, but it's as though she's far away from me. I'm losing consciousness.

The next thing I know is that I am waking up in my room. I blink as my eyes affirm to accommodate the views in my surroundings. Slowly, I sit up and groan at the sudden body pain.

Someone cleared their throat next to me, which made me shudder. I sigh when I see the elder, and she's smiling at me. "You have made me proud, Freya. You did a very fast job."

Um, what is she talking about? Both my wolf and I are in anticipation.

"You carry a child. Such good news, don't you think?" She cracks up while I am here, having a mixture of emotions. In fact, I don't know how to feel. No one teaches you how to feel when you carry the child of your mate, who hasn't seen you in two weeks or more.

While I remain speechless, she continues talking. "I shall have my son notified of your situation, and he'll come to see you. I shall have your lesson lessened as well. We don't want you fainting now and then, do we?" She cracks up with laughter as she stands up. "I'd have the maids bring you tea. You must maintain your health status."

Finally, she leaves the room. Why do I feel like things just happen to me, like it's some fantasy?

How can I be pregnant? It was just once. I can't believe it. Did she just mention now that she'd even be the one to tell my mate when to come and see me, and it's just because of the pregnancy? If not, he wouldn't have wanted me at all. Was I nothing but a slave from day one?

I hit myself on the bed as my eyes strained with anger. The elder said it right from the start. She said I was sold. A Luna doesn't get sold to her Alpha. She is claimed to be his mate, but he actually did not. It wasn't until the bonding night that we even met for the first time, and I realized he was my mate.

My life is all about these people telling me what to do and when to do it. It's all about control. I have to step up for myself tonight, even though I've got no idea how.

Just then, the door opened, and a maid came in. Hastily, I ran towards her and grabbed her by the sides, careless if the tray in her hands fell. "Where is Miss Due?"

"In the maids' head quarter, Luna."

"Thank you. Decide if you want to drop the tray here or whatever. Make your own decision." I tell her and hurry to get my feet into flip-flops. I'm still in the light gown from the morning, and it's night now. I have an idea in my head, and I hope I get it accomplished tonight.

Outside my room, Felix hurried to my back, trying to keep up with my pace. Oh, I may have some work for him too, but first, I must see Miss Due.

I arrive in the maids' quarters not long after, and upon entering, I receive many bows. Unpaying attention to them, I head to Miss Due's room, as told by one of the maids.

Miss Due is unable to hide her shock, and quickly, she stands up. "Luna..."

Felix isn't here, as he cannot enter the female maids' quarters, so I am much freer.

"I have just one question, Miss Due." I step toward her and stare into her eyes.

"What is it?"

I exhale, hoping that I'm not making a mistake with this new-found courage of mine. Well, since I'm here, I might as well just not stop myself. "Where is the Alpha King?"

"I have told you that..."

"Miss Due, I am asking for the last time. Do not lie to me. Where is the Alpha now?"

She nods her head at me. "You're changing, Luna. Perhaps it is really you."

"What?"

She clears her throat, as though she hadn't meant to say those words. Something about the change of her voice is unlike the Miss Due I was speaking to a few minutes ago until she is back to being that person now. "Crestwood Pack. He's there."

I feel like my head just burst into the ground. For the past two weeks, I've been missing someone who's not far away from me. Crestwood Pack is one of the little packs inside Wildwood Pack and the closest to the Throne Palace. He was never far away from me. I don't know why it hurt more, though, that he hadn't even come to see me at all when he was close by.

With tears wanting to escape, I fight back and head out to meet Felix. "I need a vehicle tonight. Can you prepare it?"

"I'm sorry, Luna, but I cannot..." His words fade into the distance as I close my eyes and recall my past.

"One last thing: do not trust my brother. He can be sly sometimes... You forget experiences, and if there's anything that's to teach you from redoing mistakes from your past, it is experience... Every day, you are attacked as a woman and as an Omega, but one thing you should ask yourself is, why do you allow it?"

Right from the start, I have been my own problem. I had been the one who wasn't using my power as a living being with existential rights. If I am Luna, then I can control these people, so I clear my throat and stand directly afront Felix with my eyes fixated on his.

"You will get me a vehicle right now. I must get to Crestwood Pack now!" I finish with my voice slightly raised, and he nods his head, although I saw the surprise evident in his eyes, knowing I now know where the Alpha is.

"Yes, Luna. But your clothes? It's freezing outside."

"Just do as you're told." I am the boss here, not the other way around.

He leads the way afterwards to the outside, and indeed, it's freezing. There's a car already packed, which leaves me baffled and surprised at the same time. Woah. I feel good knowing that for once in my life, I controlled other people instead of being controlled.

"There will be fits. Prepare yourself, Luna." Felix tells me as he sits in the backseat with me, and I nod my head.

He knows what I'm about to do. In my mind, I don't know how tonight is going to end, but one thing that I'm sure of is that I must get a response to why Nicholas did what he did to me: if I am his mate or a tool for a son.
