As we rode into the forest, I stared at the tall trees and the wolves that were having difficulties climbing them. "Are we there yet?" Kayden asked, impatiently and Tess almost shouted at him.
"Kayden, won't you be a little bit polite to shut up. You've asked that same question repeatedly for five minutes now." Tess reprimanded and he frowned.
After what seemed like a fruitless journey, the car pulled to a stop in front of the pack. As soon as I came down, I felt everyone's eyes on me.
I didn't want to give them that impression that I was weak but as I passed through the hallway with Tess, I could hear their gossip.
"A female Werewolf?" Someone asked.
"No, she doesn't look like a Werewolf, she's definitely human."
"But she's beautiful though."
We both walked into our new house and I hurriedly placed my bag on the chair. "Woah, I didn't even know you would become famous in less than two minutes." Tess said, a teasing tone beneath her words as she also placed her bag on the chair.
"Famous? I definitely want to live a low life. Are they all werewolves?" I asked her and she nodded.
"Well, except for Lilian, she's a human too." She said and pointed to a room.
I shrugged. "Just one human, how annoying can this get?"
"You should definitely go see her because one of you is going tomorrow morning." She said, rolling her eyes, a playful smirk on her face.
"And what do you mean by going tomorrow morning?" I asked in fear. "I only just got here." I reminded her immediately and she winked at me.
"You'll understand soon because one of you has to go."
"Go where?"
"Underworld."
That sent a shiver down my spine. Even though I didn't understand, why would I go to the underworld? "What do you mean?" I asked.
She scoffed. "You ask a lot of questions, I'm sure Lilian will explain those questions to you soon." She replied and walked out of the house. I didn't want to be left alone so I followed her.
"Where are you heading to?" I asked Kayden as he walked past us with a group of boys.
"It's none of your business, HAILEY!" He rudely replied and I ignored him.
Kayden was quick in making friends so that didn't surprise me. How could he be so comfortable after we lost our parents? I had always known he didn't care about them. "Aren't you coming along?" Tess asked from afar and I ran to meet her.
"Hey, why were you walking without me?" I asked her, slightly offended.
"I might be a little rude to you in front of the other girls but I don't want you to be offended." She murmured and I looked at her with a blank expression.
"Why?"
"I lied to them that I'll be shape shifting to a werewolf soon and they believed me. I don't want to feel inferior."
I slowly nodded even though I didn't still understand what was going on. She sounded like a different person entirely.
We walked past a group of boys who just fixed their attention on me. "Why are you getting so much attention?" She asked, annoyed.
"Maybe that's because I'm a human."
She snapped. "Just shut it, Lillian didn't even get half of the attention you're getting. It's pissing me off already."
I could sense the jealousy and bitterness in her voice. Why did she change all of a sudden like she was envious of me?
"What am I supposed to do? Lock myself in a closet because they're admiring me. You're annoying, you know?"
She gritted her teeth. "Fine, I'm sorry." She apologized.
A guy stopped me with a smile and I smiled back at him. "Hey, can I talk to you for a few seconds?" He politely asked and I nodded.
Tess didn't bother to wait for me, she was already gone. "I'll just stay with you since my best friend's gone already." I answered.
He sat on the ground and I also did the same thing. "You're new here, right?" He asked.
"Yeah, I actually came with my friend a few minutes ago."
"I'm Jake." He introduced himself to me with a smile on his face.
"And I'm Hailey Marquis." I replied.
"I wish you were a werewolf, life would have been easier for you." He said and I blinked my eyes in confusion.
What did he mean by that?
"Why did you say so?" I asked.
"I don't want to tell you yet, I guess you should probably wait for the announcement." He answered and I didn't want to disturb him to tell me anymore. After all, it was useless, no one was telling me anything.
"Have you watched Twilight?" I found myself asking him a stupid question.
He chuckled shamefully and gave a long, sad look before biting his tongue. "We don't get such opportunities to watch films, we're just in this boring pack. Only werewolves in the Werewolf academy gets to have fun and choose their mates." He answered.
"Werewolf Academy?" I asked, a little bit surprised but pleased.
He nodded. "Yeah, it's more like real life. The academy grants more freedom to Werewolves and you can actually do anything you want to do." He answered.
"Sounds interesting."
"Only a few get accepted though."
"That's sad. Do you want to go there?" I inquired and he smiled.
"It has always been my dream to be in the Werewolf Academy."
"All werewolves, report to the auditorium, I repeat, all werewolves, report to the auditorium." The school announcement blared through the speakers as some of the people ran towards a building.
"I guess I'll just skip this one out." I whispered and he shook his head.
He ran a hand through his hair and stood up. "It's actually not good if you skip this important announcement." He advised.
"Why? I'm not a werewolf, why should I also go to the hall?"
He helped me get up and I could see that he had a hard time explaining things to me. "I don't know how I'll explain things to you. I'll just take you there because the information is especially for you because you're a human." He answered with a sad expression on his face.
What did he mean by that?
My heart slowly raced rapidly. What information? I asked myself as we both walked to the hall.
As soon as I walked into the hall, some of the guards got a hold on my hand and tightened their grip on me. "What's happening?" I asked Jake who just joined the rest of the pack leaving me behind with the guards."Is she a human?" A man who seemed like the leader of the pack asked. They nodded and he stared at me for a while. "Beautiful human, I'm surprised. Take her to the cell." He added and my eyes widened. What were they trying to do? I asked myself as they dragged me into a dark cell. I sat on the floor, scared because I couldn't see anything. I heard a sharp noise behind me and I shrieked with fear. "Who's there?" I asked, still scared.A light chuckle was heard and the whole place became bright. "They're playing games with us." A girl said. I was still scared, I didn't know what she was doing there. Who is she?"Who are you?" I inquired, gently trying not to piss her off with my question. "What's happening? Why did they throw us here?""I'm Lillian and I'm a human." She answ
Morning came already and the cell was bright with light. It was time for the competition and we both pretended not to know each other. I was in for the competition and she was also in for the competition...I erased yesterday's emotional moment from my head because I knew that one of us must survive. I had to prove a point to these monsters that I was no weak female competitor. Walking outside, I found the pack chanting Lillian's name. She had been the reigning human champion so it wasn't surprising that they wanted her to win.On a normal day, I would feel discouraged by their chants for the other opponent but I wasn't feeling that way."Are you up for this?" The man, who seemed like the instigator of the competition, slowly asked and I ignored him."Mr Jason, that's what they call him." Jake whispered to me before he quickly walked away. Jason walked to the middle and showed everyone a knife on the ground. "This is how the game is played." He began with a broad smile on his face.
Few hours later, I had packed my clothes into my bag and taken it to the bus. I couldn't wait to get to the Werewolf Academy but I'll definitely miss my brother and maybe Tess because I didn't understand her behavior lately. Kayden was already crying as I arranged my bag beneath some bags to make sure it was secured and safe. I could see the tears in his eyes, he definitely didn't want to be separated from me. "Sis, don't go," he pleaded and I wiped his tears with my hands. "I'll miss you so much, you're the only one I have left."How could I tell him that if I didn't go they'd kill him? I definitely had to go to the Werewolf Academy to find out about them. I patted his back and smiled at him. "Kayden, I'm doing this for us and I'm sure I'll come back stronger to save you. I love you and nothing will ever get us separated."He nodded and hugged me.It felt so comfortable that I didn't want that moment to end. I wanted to cry but I managed to stop the tears from flowing down my cheeks
"What are you doing here?" He asked and quickly grabbed a towel which he used to cover his nakedness."Can I come in?"No, why did I ask that question? He nodded and I sat on the bed. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize someone would meet me in that state. You're Hailey right?" He inquired and I nodded."And you're?""Kyle... Kyle Brandon." He stammered, nervous. It seemed I was already popular even before arriving. "Almost everyone seemed to know me, what happened? How's that possible?""The whole school was informed of your arrival and since we decided to take you in, we were informed earlier." He explained.Sounds great! He was the son of my kind adopted Werewolf parents. "Huh, thanks for taking me in." He smiled cheekily. "Now, I don't regret it, you truly are beautiful." I knew he wasn't the Cursed Alpha because he was gentle and kind. He was the type of guy any girl would want to be mated with. "Thanks for the compliment.""Where's your sister?" I inquired."Still at the Academy, I
I placed my hand on the knob and took a deep breath before opening it. When I walked into the classroom, all eyes fell on me.The teacher pointed at my seat and they all gazed at me. It even felt mode awkward when she referred to me as 'Human'After she ordered me to introduce myself, I cleared my throat. "My name is Hailey Marquis, I'm friendly and nice,""And you're beautiful." One of the boys at the back chipped in and I smiled."Thank you," I murmured, loud enough for them to hear me.I occupied the middle seat in the classroom which was at the back. It didn't take long for my mind to leave the class.I began to think about the student I was told to avoid. I was specifically told to avoid Alice because she was a bully.I noticed the guy in front of me was kinda gentle so I talked to him. "Hi, can I have the seminar summary?" "What seminar?""Huh, I was told by a teacher that you guys conducted a seminar last week and I would have wanted to see it."He smiled awkwardly. "Oh, it's
Thirty minutes later, I knew I was doomed. I had failed to mark my attendance and I was definitely going to be sent to the woods to die. No, why was I sent to the Werewolf Academy? Did they send me here to kill me? I managed to stop myself from crying.I sprang up to my feet as soon as I heard the toilet door open. "Who's there?" I shouted but when there was no response, I continued. "Someone help me, I was locked in here. Please help me."Finally, someone unlocked the door from outside and I found Zoe staring at me shocked. "What happened? How did you get locked in this toilet? What happened?" She asked, concerned."I don't know but I feel someone locked me in here and I'm suspecting that devil."She took a deep breath. "Nah, I don't think it's Tristan. I don't think he would even have that time to be in a female's restroom."Then who did that? It wasn't even my major concern, I just wanted to find out about the attendance event. "What about...."She cut in, she seemed to know what
When I opened my eyes, I noticed that it was getting dark already but where was I?I got up and looked at the small room with fear in my heart. Was I kidnapped already? Who could have brought me here? Staring round the small room, I could feel my heart rising awkwardly. Suddenly, the door opened and a guy walked inside and stared at me.I didn't know if I could describe the handsome and sexy god in front of me but I definitely did want to. He was half-naked and his body was smooth and sexy. His face was the most handsome face I've ever seen and I wasn't going to argue on that. Who is he? And why is he so cute? I didn't even know if he was a vampire or a werewolf. "What am I doing here?" I suddenly found my voice back as he continued staring at me. He ignored me and placed a bowl on the floor before he answered. "I saw your almost lifeless body and used my powers to bring you back to life."How was it possible? How was he able to bring me back to life? Was he the Cursed Alpha?"Than
For a minute, I was discouraged and sad. "Why don't you want to pick me?" I questioned. He gave me a cold stare, "You're someone no wolf would want to pick," he mocked and closed the door. "You're useless," He finally insulted. My heart shattered into pieces as I let the tears roll down my cheeks as he said those words. He continued. "I can't take you as a mate. I'll rather stay here in the woods than take one of my biggest enemies as a mate."I frowned at his words. How was I one of his biggest enemies? "What are you saying? I'm nobody's enemy."The light smile playing at the corner of his lips faded immediately. "You're a human and humans are the people I'm desperate to kill, I'm even surprised at how I haven't killed you yet but believe me, I'll make you suffer and regret your existence on earth."How could one hate humans when they've not done anything to him? His eyes glared as he said those words that I became scared of him. "Humans have done nothing to you," I suddenly found m
