Scarlett's POV:

There was no escape route now and I knew that I was indeed in trouble. I could feel the heavy pound of my heart as I tried to come up with a lie in a way that I was sure he would believe me.

Basically, he had been the one to drag me into his room since I was standing at his door contemplating if I should go in or return back later even though he had specifically given me five minutes to meet with him. Eventually, he showed up at the door as though he had sensed my presence and gripped my arm and pulled me in.

His question now was something I couldn't find an answer to...well I couldn't tell him that the reason I left was because I was nervous...it sounded ridiculous and stupid, knowing the kind of person he was, he would definitely hang my neck if I ever told him that.
