I have no idea how I got home. Nor do I know how I managed to drive back home safely. It was as if I could no longer control what I am doing, like a puppet, depending on a puppeteer’s to move.
'Martin died, Helga.'
Only those three word keeps on flashing inside my mind. Like a broken record it was endlessly playing. Tormenting my slowly collapsing soul.
After all the pain and trauma, deep inside I am still yearning for his warmth. I still want to see him, feel him.
However, those three words shattered my hopeless wish.
I absentmindedly took my cellphone when it rang. Patricia is calling. The phone vibrated three times before my finger unconsciously took a slide across the screen.
"Helga, we have arrived!"
Patricia's happy voice came from the rectangular device.
"That's good."
"Th
I stayed rooted on my spot. With quivering legs, I reach the tightly shut elevator. The palm of my hands are wet from cold sweat. My eyes frantically search for the floor they are going. They are heading down. They are about to leave! In panic, I repeatedly push the button until the lift opened. There already two people standing inside. My heart is beating so fast and hard, to the point that I can hear it thumping just beside my ear. "Maybe I should have use the stairs instead!" I started walking back and forth inside the small space unabashed under the two people’s scrutiny until the door parted open. Before anyone could move, I rushed out of the lift to look for Nadia’s entourage. After turning left, my eyes spot Nadia together with two other men whom I presume to be bodyguards. They are walking behind an equally tall person in suit. He might be
I stayed half a day in front of his grave. I just told him about the events that happened to my life for the past three years. I told him stories without mentioning Thirdy, however, I can't help feeling a bit guilty, although Thirdy isn't his child. I sighed. I made my way out and waited for a taxi. However, few minutes have passed but there are still no cab in sight. Left with no better choice, I started walking. The moon hanging in the sky was covered with a thick cloud. Fortunately, there are light poles by the side of the road so I can somehow see the path that I am going. I have walked for quite a few distance when a car slowly approached and stop just beside me. Stunned, my eyes automatically landed on it. It gave me a small fright. I was not paying attention to my surrounding so it was too late for me to notice their presence, so I was a bit shocked. "Child, why ar
Intrigued, my eyes was locked at the DJ who was now smiling widely. Maybe that was part of their gimmick. What was he hiding underneath his sleeves? "Hello there again! I almost forgot, for those who does not know me, I am your dj on the house, DJ Ram! Moreover, the short 'disturbance' was part of our little game. But did nothing happen?" He chuckled. His face was full of mirth and blatant mysteriousness. He has this pair of phoenix eyes that would curve whenever he is smiling. "That's because the three pairs that will play tonight will be based on your luck! The ticket to play was under the glass that you bought! Now, now, turn your glass upside-down. The three pairs who obtained the glasses with the color yellow, blue and red, underneath, are invited to go up the stage!" Shouts filled the whole area again. "Worry not, we made sure that the glasses for boys and girls are separated, so yes, no worries!" DJ Ram added with a grin. As everyone looked at his or her respective glas
The slight warning from his voice coupled with the thick and raw desire from his dark eyes made me momentarily stunned. It is not because I felt panicked; it was contrary to that, his words became a challenging oath to my ears. It sounds dangerously sexy and tempting. I wanted to stop, but my body did something different. My hand reached for a piece of lime from the bowl that they put atop the table and played with it using my fingers. "I'm waiting..." The corner of his lips hooked into a sexy grin, as he stood by my side. The man muttered a curse under his breath. "Call me, Ylac." he demanded. The low timbre of his voice made my heart pump with wild excitement. He looks really delectable, his top-notch face value-added a layer of fog in my muddled brain. "Ylac. Your name sounds smooth to utter."
I went straight back to my seat without looking at Ylac’s direction. The way his eyes looks at me and how my body reacts feels somehow wrong. I breathed a sigh of relief as soon as I sat on the high stool again. It was as if, a tiger was chasing me for my heart appears palpitating. That feeling when your heart is beating so fast from confusion, frustrations and excitement, to the point that it made your mind dizzy. "Another Margarita please... ahm wait, do you have an extremely cold juice? I feel incredibly hot." The bartender immediately nodded. He started preparing the drinks with leisure but efficient moves. My eyes flew back towards the middle of the dance floor however, my nose crinkled when I have not spotted an acquainted figure within the sea of people. He is gone. I felt a little regretful upon seeing not even his familiar shadow. I
I woke up with a splitting headache. My fingers gently massage the space between my brows in a circular motion in hopes to ease the aching sensation. My head hurts as if it is being hit with a hammer. "Oh... What did I do yesterday? Why is my head aching so badly?" I raised my left arm to lift my body up only to gasp in shock. I frowned, my sluggish brain unable to come up of a reason for my predicament. My body feels heavy as if a truck has unabashedly run over me. My hand automatically reached for the glass of water sitting atop the bedside table. I eagerly gulp a mouthful to moisten my dry throat. However, I almost let go of the glass I was holding. I don't usually put a glass of water beside the bed especially when I am not inside my home, so how come there is one? Not to mention it is still lukewarm. "What the?" In addi
Until the call ended, neither of us mentioned about Martin. Patricia did not even feel surprised about where I am now. I do not know if I should feel relieved or not. I grabbed the clean white robe near me and put it on. I head to the bathroom, even though my legs were still numb. I lightly massage them until the numbness was reduced. My body is covered with sweat making me grimace. Promptly demanding for a good and nice warm bath. I stare at my reflection for a few good seconds before I started cleaning my face. I cup a decent amount of water and splash it on my skin washing the dirt and sweat away. My cheeks automatically turned red as I stared at the suspiciously strange swelling of my lips. "He's too rough." I paused. "Why am I thinking about that? It was a mistake, Helga!" As I was cha
My forehead furrowed when someone pats my cheek as if there was no tomorrow. Who is this nuisance? "…Quit sleeping." From the dark, a low-gloomy voice floated with a commanding tone. "You need to wake up." I tried opening my eyes but give up halfway. My eyelids felt very heavy. I want to open my eyes but my body wants to sleep some more. Without any better choice, I just ignored the voice and let myself be submerged into the sea of a dreamless journey. Welcoming another long peaceful sleep. ... "...Thank you, Dr. Tan." I was once again awoken, by the same voice. It was cold and demanding. My lashes involuntarily tremble, out of discomfort. A pair of sharp eyes greeted mine. Astonished, I shot him with an inquiring gaze. My mind was in a state of stupor, unable t
