What the hell, I thought as I sat up. He was the one who disappointed me but he had the guts to leave when I was asleep. I spotted a note on the stool and grab it.
Had to leave for an early meeting with one of our distributors. Xo, Dave.
My shoulders drooped. Getting out of bed, I stalked to the living room where I had left my bag. Opening it, I fished out my phone. It was 6:54 am. He had never had to go for meetings that early.
Was he hiding or just so embarrassed about last night that he couldn’t face me. I realized I had to do something to make him feel better. Dave had great sexual prowess and I was not about to let one lousy night ruin our happiness and his confidence.
Dressing up, I locked the apartment and leave, heading for mine after sending him a good morning message.
Cold air bit into my skin as I stepped out of the building. Since I didn’t live very far away, I decided to walk. It was time for my usual morning jog, anyway.
When I get to the apartment, it was quiet and I thought everyone was still asleep. We didn’t always get up early unless we had to practice. Most of our gigs are in the nights so we ended up staying up late a lot, and that meant no early mornings. Opening the door, I screamed after seeing the body of a large man passed out on the couch.
“Who are you?” I yell at the strange man and he opened his eyes. He looked around the room. “Where is Maria?”
I shook my head. “I don’t know. I just came in. did you come with her?”
“Yes, and others. Whatever, I’ll leave now.”
“Good.”
He stood up and instead of heading to the door, he came towards me. He reached out and touched me on the waist. I screamed, pushing him off me. Frowning, he staggered away.
“What a way to treat a homeless man,” he muttered under his stinky breath.
“April, is everything alright?” Maria called from her bedroom before the door opened.
“Hey cuz,” she said to the man who slowly returned to the couch and lay down, pulling the blanket over his big body.
“That’s my cousin Herbert,” Maria told me. “He was thrown out by his friend last night. Please let him stay for a while. He won’t cause any trouble, I promise.”
“Whatever, as long as he doesn’t try to touch me again.” I said before opening my door. This was why I needed to get out of here. I was not very comfortable living with perverted strangers even though they were related to my roommates.
After taking a shower, I tried to call Dave but his phone was off. Unable to do anything about it, I decided to go to the kitchen and make myself breakfast. I had just started piling items on the table when my phone started ringing. Seeing Jenny’s name, I decided to ignore. I knew it had to be about work and I was too frustrated with my boy issues to deal with that. What sort of boyfriend returns after months and doesn’t want to spend time with his girlfriend. Something was fishy and I knew I would not be able to relax until I knew what was going on.
Jenny called again. This time, I decided to answer. I was too broke to be arrogant. If jenny fired me, I didn’t know where I would go.
“Hey,” I said. “Good morning, Jenny.”
“Why are you not picking my calls?”
“I have picked up now, haven’t I? What’s up?”
“We have a gig later today,” she said. “Wake those sleepy heads and come to the club for practice right now.”
“Where is it going to be?”
“At Mason Steele’s house.”
“I don’t think I’ll be able to go today,” I said. “I’m not feeling quite well.”
“Why don’t you want to go?”
“I’m not feeling well,” I lied. I was not feeling well but that was not the reason I did not want to go to Mason’s mansion. He was a dangerous man, and I didn’t want to put my life at risk by being at his place. He seemed a bit interested in me and I didn’t want to encourage that in any way. The fact that he had requested for me alone twice was a warning sign. A man like Mason Steele couldn’t possibly love music that much.
It seemed he saw me as an object of pleasure, something I did not want. In showbiz, we women get treated like objects a lot even when we are just trying to do our job of entertaining people. It gets annoying, but some women like it. I didn’t. I absolutely abhorred the times Jenny forced us to wear very skimpy outfits in order to attract more attention.
“I know that’s a lie,” Jenny said. “You know you can tell me anything, right? Did Mason Steele do something to you? Did he touch you inappropriately? I know I seem like all I care about is money but you girls are like my little sisters. I care about you and I wouldn’t put you in a harmful situation. If he did something, just tell me and I will make sure he never does it again.”
“No, he didn’t do anything of the sort. I just don’t feel like performing today. I’m having issues with Dave.”
“What issues?”
“Personal issues.”
“Well, April. You have a job. Leave personal issues at home and do your job first. I need all of you here in less than an hour.”
Jenny ended the call before I could say anything. Sighing, I placed the phone on the table and went to wake the others. Not bothering to knock, I pushed Maria’s door open. She was lying on her side, her left arm wrapped around a pillow in front of her. Opening her eyes, she glared at me.
“What do you want?”
After our performance at Mason Steele’s house, one of the servers asked me to follow her to meet a guest who had asked for me.I was shocked to find a glamorous beauty waiting near the pool. She was standing under the lights, looking spectacular in a bright red dress and black heels. The woman had long wavy black hair and a very pretty, older woman face. Her lips were painted bright red and I hoped the words that would come out were not venomous. When she saw me approaching, she smiled and took a sip of her drink. “So, you are April Hartfield?” the woman asked. Her tone sounded a bit condescending which put me off immediately.“Yes, I am.” I said, confidently staring at her.“What do you know about, Mason Steele?” she asked.“Honestly, not much. We were invited to perform here. It’s Jenny, our manager who handles everything.”“You have been here three times, I believe.”I nodded. “What does that have to do with anything?”“Everything, my dear. You see, that handsome man is not for e
After the heated dance with Mason, he excused himself and went to meet another beautiful woman who had been staring at us. Looking around, I didn’t see anyone I wanted to dance with so I decided to go and get a drink at the bar. I found Bea and Olivia standing there.“How?” Olivia asked, taking a sip of her drink.I raised my brows.“Stop acting like that was nothing, girl.” Bea said, nudging me. “You danced with Mason Steele, the Mason Steele. How are you not going crazy?”“It was just a dance,” I said before telling the bartender what I wanted. “Okay, you my friend, are the expert in pretending. It was not just a dance, and we all know that. I knew there was a reason he kept asking you to perform for him. The man is smitten. Oh my goodness! You’re dating a billionaire.”“Shush, stop being dramatic, Liv. A man like him could never date me. Look at the woman he is with now. Beautiful, glamorous, rich. I can’t even compete.”Thinking a man like Mason Steele could be interested in me w
Warning: Mature content 16+As soon as we got to the bedroom, Dave and I stripped. When we were both naked, he took me in his arms and started kissing me. My body was burning with intense need and I couldn’t wait anymore. “I need you, baby.” I said softly, not being able to take it anymore.Dave smiled and gently pushed me to the bed. He stared at me, making me feel hotter and wetter. I liked when he looked at my body like it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Dave positioned himself between my legs and his lips touched my most sensitive part, nearly sending me over the edge.He pushed my thighs aside while I kept trying to bring them closer. As Dave licked me in slow circles, I arched my core upwards wanting him to go faster which he did to my satisfaction. The butterflies in my stomach were sending off waves of electric current through my whole body. As much as I was enjoying what Dave was doing, I needed another part of his body to bury itself deep inside me. When I w
There was a lot of commotion as everyone ran out of the auditorium. The fire alarm was ringing loud in my ears as I scrambled to run towards the door which was filled with hundreds of people trying to get out all at once.“Where is Bea?” Maria suddenly asked.I looked around but didn’t see Bea anywhere. Smoke was increasing and filling the building. “Find her, April!” Jenny shrieked. My mouth widened but I ran back to the room backstage. Wading through the smoke, I couldn’t help but cough as it filled my lungs. I didn’t know where the fire started from but there was a smoke everywhere and people were screaming and running around. The room was full of costumes and other equipment. It was one big mess. Bea was bent over, digging through some of the costumes and throwing things around the room.“Bea! Let’s go!” I yelled. “Come on, everyone’s almost out.”Bea looked up for a brief second. “I’m looking for my bag. It has my 500 dollars!”“What? Who cares about money right now? Let’s go.”
Carolina.Lying back, I rolled my chair around, trying to forget what I’d just seen. The different newspapers on the table looked like they were mocking me. Those damned reporters. How could they insinuate that Mason would want that ordinary girl?I rubbed my palms together, anger building up inside me. Suddenly, I couldn’t take it anymore. Reaching forward, I grabbed all the papers and started tearing them into pieces. “Dominic!” I yelled and my new assistant rushed into the room with a panicked look on his face. Good, he was afraid of me. If he knew what I’d done to the last one, he wouldn’t stay in this job for the huge sums of money I promise to pay him. “Have you been able to reach her?”He shook his head. “No, I can’t reach the number. Maybe the phone got destroyed at the auditorium yesterday. I’ll keep trying to find other ways of contacting her.”“Oh, you annoy me so much. All you do is try, but never get anything right. Get out of my office.”Standing up, I went and looked a
April.Maria and I were lounging on the balcony when Bea brought us some pineapples she’d just finished slicing. She placed the plate of pineapple slices on a wooden stool before sitting on a woollen one. All of us were trying to be positive but reality was not making it easy. Our spirits were low and we hoped to get a good gig that would deliver us from the new pit we’d fallen into. The fire had destroyed a lot of our things, taking us behind. I had just reached over to pick up a piece of pineapple when I heard banging coming from the front door. We glanced at each other before standing up at the same time. Our neighbourhood was not exactly a safety net. When you heard something like that, you could only expect bad things. “Who could that be?” Maria asked, frowning.“I have no idea,” I stood up and walked into the kitchen before proceeding to the living room. “Who’s there?”“It’s Anton.”“Shit!” Maria, who had appeared next to me said. Anton was the apartment manager of the buildi
Mason. As the meeting proceeded, I found myself tapping on the table with my pen. Suddenly, my colleague Peter nudged me. I realised what I’d been doing and stopped. Apparently, it had got louder and everyone had turned to stare at me. “I’m sorry, ladies and gentlemen. Please proceed.” They all turned back to Jack Miller who was explaining something about the new AI we were training. I knew everything about it so didn’t have to pay attention. The meeting was mainly for the benefit of our partners who didn’t know much about the project. I was feeling restless, my gut telling me that something was wrong. Everything in my life seemed perfect and I hadn’t missed any call so I was left feeling confused. To make it worse, the presentation was boring. It made me think of many other things that could be more interesting for example April Hartfield’s performances. That thought train brought April to my mind. I pictured her Beautiful face and body. I felt tingles when I fantasied about runn
I was lounging in my motel room, pressing the cute button phone my friend Ronnie had given me when I heard a knock on the door. Since I had found Mr Waters at the door the previous day, I didn’t rush to open the door, thinking he was back. That old geezer couldn’t take a hint.“Who’s there?” I asked, drawing close to the door.“Mason Steel,” a cool and collected voice said. I gave myself a few seconds before opening the door.“H…hi,” I said, my heart racing. My lips parted as I took in the sight in front of me. All 6 foot of Mason Steele stood on the other side of the door. My eyes moved from his breathtaking face to his large arms that were obscenely straining against the sleeves of his white shirt. The man was holding a bouquet of red roses. He smiled at me. “I’m very sorry for showing up unexpected but I couldn’t find a way to contact you.” He held out the flowers. “Here, these are for you.”I wanted to take the flowers but my hands didn’t move. One was holding the door while the
