We laid in bed basking in our after sex high. The other couple had already cleaned their area and left.

“Jade?”

“My real name is Ace. Would you tell me yours?”

“I can’t.”

We got dressed, cleaned our area, and headed downstairs to the bar. I ordered water while Ace ordered whisky.

I wish he hadn’t told me his name; I feel like it puts me at an unfair advantage and I’m almost obligated to disclose mine. I came here to get away from who I am for a while. I’m not sure I can enjoy this if I was just Nora.

“How did you end up here?” I asked, changing the subject.

“My best friend owns this club as well as a few others.”

“So that means you can find out who I am if you wanted to.”

He shook his head no. “It’s not like that; I don’t have access to his documents.”

“Alright, moving on. Why did you take the invitation to come here?”

“My best friend Alex told me I needed to live more, and it made me take the invite that I got for the lady in the diner. So, I have a habit of falling too soon and getting dumped.”

I rolled my eyes at Ace. “Maybe we were meant to be secret lovers.”

“I don’t believe that. I’ll get to know the real you eventually.”

I leaned in close to him before responding. “The only thing you’ll get to do is make me come over and over again.”

She was trying to distract me, but I knew better; I wasn’t going to let her win easily.

“You don’t have to give me your name. You can give me any piece of information you want.”

I watched as her lips curl into a smile.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “That’s not what I had in mind, but I guess that’s what I get for trying to trick you.”

“He told me it was his real name, and he’s trying to get me to tell him nine.”

“Why don’t you?”

“You’re an awesome person, Nora. Any guy would be lucky to date you. You let guys take advantage of you, and when you put your foot down, they leave. They don’t leave because you’re boring.”

“That’s not what the last one said.”

“He said that to hurt you. I think you should give it a try. Don’t let some dickhead ruin everything for you. Enjoy it and be open to new things.”

Should I take a chance and put myself out there again? Will it be worth it?
