Chapter 2 Be My Wife

"Meet me at Hotel X right now. I've already sent a car for you. You have less than 30 minutes to arrive if you still want my help with your career!" A cold voice of a man with a bossy tone.

"Samuel, you must be out of your mind to ask me—Hello, hey!" Maya didn't finish her sentence as she heard a beep on her phone.

Maya's face was filled with anger, her fists clenched. "Meeting at a hotel? What does that man really want?"

Maya really didn't want to get involved with him again; the cold gaze and tone of the man as they parted still haunted her. Now, he was asking to meet her and offering help?

"He's not just talking nonsense to toy with me, is he?" Maya wondered silently. But she didn't know how to deal with this situation.

Maya exited the restroom, moving stealthily like a thief, scanning her surroundings vigilantly. Until someone suddenly tapped her back. "Mrs Lin, come with us to meet CEO Ren."

Maya stepped out of a luxurious car that had stopped right in front of the five-star hotel. A young man in glasses approached her with a welcome. "Hello, Mrs Maya Lin. I am CEO Ren's Assistant. Please follow me!"

Maya entered the hotel, feeling uneasy about what the person who invited her had in mind. "Why does Samuel Ren want to meet me in a place like this? What if paparazzi take photos?" Maya worried.

Her eyes couldn't stay still. She looked around without blinking to spot any hidden paparazzi. Since the incident earlier, she had become constantly anxious. The CEO's Personal Assistant noticed Maya's unease.

"Are you worried about paparazzi? Don't worry, this hotel is very secure, and only the elite can come here. No paparazzi can get in."

"Sir, you underestimate paparazzi who can do anything, even penetrate secure places," Maya warned. She had plenty of experience with paparazzi.

"It seems paparazzi won't get in here." Maya felt relieved. They both entered the elevator. Maya glanced at the number pressed by the man next to her, then asked something, "Is that kid also here?"

"What do you mean, young Little Master? No. It's late, the young master didn't want to disturb her son' sleeping time," the CEO's Assistant answered Maya's question.

"Oh, such a caring father." There was a mocking tone in her words that sounded like a compliment.

Her hand clenched quietly. Maya wondered if Samuel would be like this if their child was still alive. But only disappointment shrouded her when she remembered their past relationship.

The Assistant didn't say anything. The door opened, and they walked towards the most significant room. He knocked on the door, then opened it slightly. "Sir, I've brought Mrs Maya Lin."

"Tell her to come in, and you can leave!" he said coldly.

The CEO's Assistant opened the door and asked Maya to enter. Her long-legged figure, wearing matching high heels, stepped through the door.

There, a man sitting on the couch looked at her coldly. Years had passed, but that gaze hadn't changed. Maya averted her gaze elsewhere.

"What do you want?" Maya asked coldly.

"Why are you in such a hurry? Sit down and have a drink with me. You like this wine brand, right?" Samuel Ren raised a glass of wine.

Maya looked at the wine, a mocking smile on her face. "You really have a bad memory of me. You know very well that your favorite woman is the one who likes it. I'm allergic to peach-scented wine."

"Oh, I remember you drinking this with me in the past."

"That was to please you."

Maya didn't want to dwell on her foolishness; she began discussing the main issue that brought her here. "CEO Ren, you intentionally involved me in this scandal, didn't you? After ruining my life and heart, you're still unsatisfied and want to destroy my career?"

"Maya, you're still the same as before. Clearly, you're the one who created the scandal. Who told you to hide your marital status and your son?" A cold smile played on the man's lips.

Maya, who had been calm before, started to get provoked. "My son? You clearly know who the mother of that little boy is. Do you want me to acknowledge a child from your dirty affair with that wretched woman?"

"Where is the kid's mother? She would be furious if she saw her child calling me his mother and involved with you."

"She's dead." CEO Ren's eyes showed sadness.

"Oh, she's dead? After she finally got what she wanted by taking everything from me. Truly tragic." Maya showed surprise, but there was no sympathy in her tone. Only she knew the feelings she was trying to suppress.

"You don't look sad; she was still your sister," Samuel retorted.

"What kind of sister dares to steal her own sister's happiness," Maya sneered.

"Do you forget who took whose happiness?" The man's eyes were so cold.

Maya's composure began to crumble. "I've given everything back, haven't I? We don't need to discuss the past anymore. CEO Samuel Ren, I hope you'll explain what really happened publicly." Maya stared straight at the man.

"What if I don't want to do that?" He showed an indifferent expression.

"CEO Ren, you said on the phone that you would help me, right? Are you lying to me? It's pointless for me to meet you." Maya really wanted to slap him hard, but she knew her status. She turned her body to leave, feeling annoyed.

Her hand, pulling the doorknob, stopped when the man called her and said something surprising.

"Go back home and be my wife, and then I'll help you."
