KAHLAN AND SANDINO I didn't think it would be so hard to climb a ladder to the second floor. Turns out I was wrong, not taking into account that I was clumsy and slightly afraid of heights. By the time I had reached the second floor window, I froze. "What's going on?" Sandino asked from below me. He was right on my heels the entire time. I cleared my throat. "I'm afraid to let go of the ladder..." I said softly. He chuckled. "Seriously? This was your idea... You didn't think this through did you?" I didn't respond. CHAD AND KAHLAN It wasn't hard to find my group, they never left the kitchen. Justin and Ashley were gone. It was just Chad, Chris, and Brandon. "Where did you disappear to?" The basketball star asked, coming closer to me. I stared at him. I knew that he saw me leave with Sandino. I think the question was more, What were you two doing? THE TWINS "Hey where have you been?" Mya asked Amy, when she spotted her sister in the crowds of people. Jason was nowhere in sight. "Jason showed me around the rest of the house," she replied, eyes sparkling with happiness. "How has it been down here?" Mya stared at Amy for a little while, as if she was trying to read between the lines. And Amy stared back at her, as if she noticed something was off. "It's all right." Amy stepped a little closer to her twin, smelling her. "Have you been drinking?" Mya stared as if she were in trouble. BROOKE "What is the matter with you?" Mike asked, snatching his older sister out of Jason's arms. The young man had held on to her, trying to containt her. She had tried to pull herself away from him, wanting to get her hands around Kahlan's pretty little neck. Now Micheal gripped her small arm tightly, pulling her away from the group that had surrounded them. "I never knew you to be so out of control!" Brooke rolled her eyes. The last thing she wanted to hear was a lecture, especially from her little brother. "It isn't a surprise to me," James said, appearing at their side once they entered the house. "Calm down Mike, she's been drinking. She isn't really thinking straight." Oh, now James wanted to stand up for her. "It doesn't matter," Brooke snapped, "I just did everyone a favor. KAHLAN AND ASHLEY I rolled over to my side, putting my face into the extra soft pillow on my bed, trying to hide my sensitive eyes from the sun, which shined through my bedroom window. I groaned, as I was prepared to close my eyes and return back to my deep sleep, but then I remembered I still had school today. Curse Jason Fleming for having a party on a school night, but I guess he took the chance while he could. Not everyone was emancipated and didn't live with their parents. I licked my lips, feeling the cut on my bottom lip. I was a bit sore. I stretched, happy that I went out last night. Sure, I didn't expect a fight but in the end, I still had a good night. I pulled myself out of bed and did a mid jog down the stairs. As I made my way through the living room, towards the kitchen, I looked over at Ashley Lauder, who was asleep on the couch. SANDINO AND BROOKE Sandino arrived much later to school than what he usually did. He probably had too many drinks last night. Oh well, he couldn't take it back. Since he was kind of behind schedule, he didn't get a chance to see Kahlan, which is what he really wanted to do. First, he wanted to apologize once more and then follow that, with many thank yous. Kahlan really stuck herself out there for him, for a person that she barely knew. Part of him wondered if there was a reason for that? He had been feeling something for Kahlan, he couldn't explain it. They were small little flutters. Was she feeling them too? He hadn't seen Brooke either. She was most likely overly upset with him. That would be a good thing. It would give her an excuse to avoid him and any feelings he had for her would fade and just maybe, he could analyze the ones he had for Kahlan. CHAD AND SANDINO The next day Chad had waited in the cafeteria for Kahlan and Sandino. They never showed. Kahlan didn't even show up for first period. So, during the six minute passing period, he decided to find Ashley. She and Kahlan seemed like they had built a friendship, and she was the only girl Kahlan talked to, so maybe she knew where she was. "Hey, have you seen Kahlan?" Chad asked Ashley once he had caught up with her. She held a large amount of books in her arms, walking fast to be sure that she wasn't late. Chad, however, was taking the risk. "No." She answered. "Not since yesterday. Why? Are you planning on apologizing and asking for her forgiveness?" She hadn't known the situation word for word, but any person who was smart, and witnessed the argument could catch on quickly. Chad had feelings for Kahlan. The same goes for Sandino. That put a little damper on the boys relationship, but that didn't give Chad the excuse to act and say the things he said. Ashley had a few

KAHLAN I pulled into a driveway, eyes stuck on the blue home that was in front of me. At first, I was scared. My home and happy memories seemed to be ruined. Still, when I thought hard enough, I could push past all the bad and see a light. That light held the moments in life that I treasured. A smile came upon my face. It still looked exactly the same. The light blue paint still looked fresh with the white boarding around the windows and doors. I got out of my beat down red vehicle, taking notice in the FOR SALE sign that was posted up. I was talked into selling the house, though I wasn't sure if I truly wanted to or not. I still had a key. The locks had never been changed, just for this reason, if I wanted to come back someday. The house was lit up brighter than usual because of the rising sun. In a way I felt like I was being invited in. With a deep breath, I made my way to the door.
