His Touch

For a hot second, Zia felt like her heart skipped a beat just by looking into those verdant eyes of his but she shook herself and stepped back, creating the rational distance between their bodies. He didn't say anything but just gazed at her every action thoroughly.

"What happened to you?" She asked him, concerned but in return saw him tossing his head and looked at his car which had gotten bumped against that streetlight's post.

She slightly narrowed her eyes at him when he again turned around to look at her because she understood he was making fun of her question.

"I mean…how did this happen?" She uttered, irritated a bit. His lips twitched into an almost invisible grin but her gaze was sharp enough to watch it.

"Maybe because this town doesn't like my presence in it that well, including its streets and people," he answered, surpassing his grin.

Zia's jaw set at his answer because she knew exactly what he meant by his words.

"Then I guess you should leave this town before it ended up making your presence nonexistent,"

Her answer finally made his smirk appear more clearly. He sniggered at her but her throat dried up when she saw him taking his steps towards her direction but his feet halted when he saw her walking back.

"I will leave this town again.. don't worry about it but…" he paused and slightly lowered his head at her.

"Not before taking what's mine with me this time," his voice fell more octaves down and that cavernous intensity in his eyes shuddered her. Only if she knew about what or whom he was talking about at that time.

She was gazing at him when she noticed that the wound on his forehead again started dripping blood. Zia stepped closer to him and again pressed her handkerchief against it.

"Did you call someone? Wait, I will call uncle Reid. He will …"

"No," he said, cutting her words. She noticed his tone turned harsh and his eyes more cold. He seriously had some serious issues with his own family and she did not want to invade it.

"Okay then. Let's go, I will take you the hospital,"

"My breathing is still running which means I am not dead yet," he answered her, sarcastically but his sarcasm turned her angry. Zia didn't know his words bothered her real bad more than they should. Probably because she believed every life deserved to live to its fullest.

"To treat your forehead injury by a doctor, Mr smarthead," she tried her best to hide her anger. He chuckled slowly before replying.

"It's fine. If you really want to help me then drop me to my address,"

She gulped because should she trust him? The answer was no because he was creep but then he was injured and nobody else was present there to help him and on top of that, it was a chilly night and he was practically a newbie here so the reasons to help him overpower the reasons to not trust him.

"Okay. Get in the car. I will drop you to your address," she said a bit hesitantly. He didn't say anything further.

"Hold this over your wound," she uttered curtly, making him raise his palm and touch that handkerchief but unintentionally, his fingers got brushed with hers, causing her skin to tingle but she immediately withdrew her hand back and turned around.

She opened the door of her car for him and he just silently got in. Zia was about to get in her seat but stopped when her eyes noticed his car.

"What about your car?" She asked him, hooking her seatbelt.

"Someone will take care of it," he replied, shortly and she knew what he meant by it. After all.. she was also familiar with the perks of being a wealthy family's inheritor.

Zia was about to start the engine of her car when she found that he didn't wear the seatbelt because his one hand was busy pressing that handkerchief over his wound.

"Wear the seatbelt,"

Damien gave her a suspicious look, hearing her .

"Why? This car doesn't have brakes or its driver doesn't know how to drive properly?"

She was so tempted to throw him out of her car.

"Don't worry, I am not like some special people who believed in driving a car with their closed eyes and then got bumped against a lamp post," she barked at him, filling his gaze with more amusement.

Zia gave him an ugly glare before loosening her seatbelt. She stretched herself and got up a bit. Grabbing his seatbelt, she was about to fix it when once again she found herself staring at him but this time, she diverted her focus on that seatbelt and locked it properly.

"And this town loves me a lot including its streets and people unlike some newbies," she taunted him. He didn't open his mouth but just heard her and let her drive him away.

After like 20 minutes, they finally reached his address. During the entire ride, they didn't speak to each other except for his instructions to reach his address. Now she waited for him to get out of her car so she could breath in relief without his presence around her. It felt too unusual to stay under his presence, especially because of those evil thoughts which she started getting about him when he was around her.

Zia saw him opening his seatbelt and then he looked at her.

"I guess there won't be any benefit in telling you to come inside because you're going to reject my invitation anyway so thanks for the ride, Miss Alcazar," he uttered. His words made her frown, causing him to smirk and then he got out of her car.

Creep…she glared at his back but then saw his wallet on the seat. Great, now he left it here. Zia opened the car's window and was about to yell his name but stopped by finding him already reaching at his door which was at a bit distance and shouting at this time of the night could disturb the neighbourhood, so she grabbed his wallet and then stepped out of the car.

Damien was about to enter the passcode to unlock his penthouse's door when he felt her presence behind him.

"Change of plans, Miss Alcazar," he taunted her which made Zia scoff. She stood beside him and extended his wallet to him.

Damien took a glance of his wallet in her hand before looking upward towards her alluring azure eyes which were twinkling under those dim lights of his penthouse's gate.

"Didn't expected, Alcazar's only heiress to be a thief,"

Her eyes widened at his remark. She gritted her teeth and shoved his wallet against his chest, making him chuckle.

"My parents taught me not to steal from a robber," she retorted back, angrily. He laughed even more. Zia sent him a completely irritated glare and twirled around to leave until..

"Stay…" his serene low voice made her stop. She turned around and saw him staring at her but this time, a little bit differently like he was not demanding but hoping for her to stay.

"And why would I do that?" She asked him bluntly. Zia waited to get another taunt from him but all she got was his silence and that seductively devilish smirk on his face.

He didn't reply to her and then turned around. Zia saw him feeding the unlocking passcode which made her toss her head as she didn't want to invade his privacy.

"You can look, Miss Alcazar because…" he took his eyes up to look at her.

"I have nothing which you would like to steal,"

His answer erupted something inside her but she decided to ignore it.

"There's something called basic manners which I guess, not everyone possesses,"

Damien chuckled and pushed open the door but he didn't get inside.

"Ladies first," he welcomed her by opening his one arm. Zia narrowed her eyes at his playfulness and then stepped inside his penthouse, forgetting about her all doubts about him. He entered behind her and closed the door. He switched on the lights and she immediately started scanning that entire place with curiosity. Wow …..it was beautiful and classy and was really huge from inside. Its vintage style was making it more alluring.

"Do you live here alone?" She asked him, curious and excited.

"For now…yes…"

His answer darted her attention to him and then she looked at his wound.

"Do you have a first aid box?"

He nodded and told her to settle on the sofa. Zia saw him getting inside a room. She wandered her eyes everywhere and no doubt, his preference was really very enchanting and captivating. She would love to stay here forever. The heck was wrong with her thoughts? What was she even thinking?

She mentally scoffed and decided to remove her jacket because the temperature inside his place was really very warm and she felt like her cheeks were turning hot. Zia was opening jacket when she saw him coming back from that room with a first aid box in his hand. He had also removed his coat and was now in his black satin shirt which was perfectly giving her an overview of those hardened muscles beneath it.

Zia cleared her throat and held her jacket securely in her arms. She tugged a strand of her hair behind her ear as she saw him approaching her.

"Would you like to drink something?" He asked her but she just shrugged her head.

Zia clutched the first aid box from him and gestured to him to sit down on the sofa.

"Sit, I will treat your wound,"

With no defiance, he followed her words and settled down on the sofa of that hall. Zia dropped her jacket on one of the edges of the sofa and walked closer to him.

She stood in front of him and took out some cotton from that box. She looked at him and with her hesitant hand, she touched his chin. Zia held his face up and started cleaning his wound. None of them said a single word to each other. Zia did her best to not look at him but she could feel his eyes on her for all the time.

After cleaning his wound, she put a medicated tap on it.

"Done," she stepped back and spoke .

"I saw some painkillers in the box so if you feel any pain then you can take it. I had seen my mum giving these painkillers to my dad after he got a wound on his arm quite some days ago,"

He silently heard her every word and then found her grabbing her jacket from the sofa.

"Bye bye. Don't wet your wound," Zia uttered and turned around to leave but his next question stopped her.

"Why are you concerned about my wound?"

No, she was not ready for any serious talks with him but she knew she had to face it. Turning around, she answered him calmly.

"Because you're Dylan's brother,"

And her answer was enough to blaze his entire existence into a deadly fire of rage and fury. Zia noticed his entire demeanour changing from calm to nefarious. She saw him throwing that first aid box on the floor, causing its contents to scatter all around the floor and her eyes widened in horror when he aggressively snatched that banded tap away from his forehead, causing his wound to open again.

His behaviour startled her. Zia was frozen till her core but he continued to glare at her which made Zia to fist her palms.

"I was right when Dylan told me about you that you're a psycho because a normal person behaves the way you do," she spat at him but then saw him chuckling like a maniac. His gaze darkened.

"And yet you choose to drive this psycho to his home all alone," Damien stated, taking his steps towards her. Her body turned ice in terror. He was looking predacious.

"Yet you choose to come inside this psycho's house all alone at this time," Damien halted in front of her, leaving a very little distance between their bodies. He brought his face closer to her

"Yet you choose to cure this psycho's wounds with your own hands, mi vida,"

Her heart felt a sting at his words. She didn't know why her eyes started watering all of a sudden.

"Because I am not heartless enough to let someone suffer after watching him in pain," she blurted out. He didn't argue anymore.

"But thanks to you because you taught me today that not every person you see in pain deserves to get cured by you, Damien Karlson," is all she said before turning around and attempting to leave but her heartbeat completely dropped when she felt him grabbing her wrist. He touched her for the very first time.
