Chapter 6: Make Him Jealous

"Please, Young Master Rowan, don't tell anyone about it! For... for Robin's sake! That's right!" I pleaded and couldn't help but feel nervous.

Rowan has a bad reputation and I don't know what's on his mind right now.

However, he caught on quickly! He must have known Robin very much for him to notice Robin's slight changes.

Rowan smirked and said, "Okay. But call me Rowan first."

My eyes widened. "What?! How could I? A slave like me doesn't dare to be casual to its master!" I quickly reacted. Is Rowan planning to send me to my early death?!

I would be punished if I called his name in public!

He pouted and mumbled, "Fine. I will spread rumors about you and Robin then..."

"No! Don't!" I yelled in panic.

He snorted and was about to turn around but I held his arms and said reluctantly, "Fine. I'll call you Rowan! But can I only call you that when we're alone?"

Rowan looks at me with a smirk.

"Deal," he said and leaned closer again.

My heart pounded nervously. What is he doing?

"I wonder what happened to a beauty like you to end up being a slave," he murmured and then gripped my chin while scrutinizing my face.

I rolled my eyes. Seeing Rowan acting like a normal person surprised me.

For some reason, Rowan doesn't seem like the devil everybody is talking about.

"It's not like I want to be a slave. I would rather go farming than be a slave for life!" I said bitterly.

"Oh?" he releases my chin and puts his hands in his pocket with a doubtful expression. "Then why are you here?"

I let out a sigh. "I was forced to be here. They sold me after killing my parents." I said as I clenched my fist.

I was still bitter and vexed at what happened to my life. So much for keeping a low profile.

Rowan frowned and asked with a darkened face, "Who sold you here?"

"Garry Morgan," I replied.

He was startled. "He's quite efficient. He knows exactly what he's doing," he said perfunctorily.

I narrowed my eyes. "What do you mean?"

Rowan sighed and looked hesitant. He stared at me and said, "You know the first time I saw you I know you are different. Some werewolves might not notice your usefulness but I could see. Maybe Gary Morgan senses it as well."

My forehead creased. "There it was again the word useful. They always say I'm useful. But for what exactly?" I voiced out in confusion.

Rowan eyed me intently. "You have this unique energy around you but it is still faint. You might be useful to deal with the beast," he said seriously.

"What?" I frowned. I still don't get it.

He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Anyway. I can sense that you'll change eventually but I can't tell when it's going to happen."

"Wow. Are you a fortune-teller, Rowan?" I said with a hint of amusement.

He chuckled and for a split second; I noticed some changes in his expression but it quickly disappeared.

"I still don't know your name," he said with a smile.

He looks gentle when smiling. So how did he become a devil in the servant's eyes?

Maybe he was misunderstood?

Oh well, I'll find out later after observing him.

I smiled softly. "I'm Arielle Wilhelm. You can call me Arielle or Ari."

His hazel brown eyes lit up and said with a genuine smile, "Arielle... You have a nice name. It does suit you. I'll call you Ari then."

I hummed in approval. "Then I'll call you Ro!"

He smiled. "It's nice talking to you, Ari. I like your personality more than the pretentious Ericka Moonshire," he said and the way he uttered Ericka's name was full of displeasure.

My eyes widened in surprise and then let out a giggle. "You also call her pretentious?! Glad to know I wasn't the only one thinking like that!"

I feel like I have found the best buddy!

He laughed and gave me a high five. "I don't really like Ericka. I think you are more deserving to be Robin's Luna. Your special hidden ability might help him in the future."

My smile faded at the mention of Robin's name. I squinted my eyes and puffed my cheeks. "I don't want to be Robin's Luna! Just thinking about it irked me!"

Rowan shook his head. "Poor Robin," he murmured.

"You know, Robin might appear cold but he actually cares about you. He just couldn't disobey our father's order. Robin didn't choose Ericka but father did. He was patiently waiting for you his whole life. Sadly, you came at the wrong time. And if he acknowledges you now, Father might harm you to eliminate a threat for Ericka." he said with a serious face.

I frowned. This is more complicated than I thought. But still...

"Ari, please trust Robin," he added.

"But he's a scumbag!" I whined.

He chuckled in amusement. "Yes, sometimes he is. That's because he has difficulty expressing himself."

"..." I was speechless. That might explain his behavior last night.

But his actions don't justify the end!

He hurt me with his choice of words. He could just tell me the truth. Why hurt me?

"But don't worry, Ari. I have a plan to make Robin fall head over heels for you."

"Ro! What are you planning?!" I was startled.

He smirked and said proudly, "Let's make him jealous! Let me tell you a fact about Robin. He is the most territorial or possessive person I have ever known!"

"I can vouch for that." I smiled wryly.

Little did Rowan know that I already experienced it firsthand last night. Robin even left me a bruise on my wrist. Good thing it healed quickly.

Rowan chuckled and declared, "Well, leave everything to your future brother-in-law!"

My eyes widened. Future brother-in-law?!

I was rendered speechless.

I pursed my lips as I fought the urge to smile.

It was actually nice having an ally. Rowan as my future brother-in-law is not bad. I always wanted to have a brother and I think he suits the criteria.

"Don't overdo it." I couldn't help but say.

He grins, and he seems excited. "Okay. I'll make a move tomorrow. So be prepared."

I nodded. "Okay."

Afterward, he turned around and walked away after bidding goodbye.

Then I subconsciously called him out, "Rowan!"

"Yeah?" he tilted his head to look at me.

I smiled and said, "You are nothing like the rumors say about you. You are actually a cool person!"

He let out a chuckle. "Then I say you don't look like a slave at all but more like a princess!" he yelled back and waved his hand.

I was stunned and let out a chuckle as I watched his back getting further away.

Is he still the devil Rowan everyone talks about?

He seems kind... and cool. I wish I had a brother like him.

Tsk. Robin is such a lucky fellow.

I sighed and walked toward the servant's quarter.

I stopped at the garden when I noticed that the sun was setting on the horizon. The view was magnificent.

The talk with Rowan about Robin flashed in my head.

I don't know if I should believe what Rowan said.

Robin acting like a scumbag really irked me. All I want for now is to avoid him like the plague!

...

At eleven in the evening, I feel uncomfortable all over my body. There's something strange running through my veins.

What is this?

This feels nothing like when I shifted into my wolf form.

Cold sweat beaded on my forehead but I feel burning! My head feels like it's going to split.

"Ugh," I groaned and hastily left my bed.

I quickly open the door and run outside.

"Arielle!" I heard Rosie calling behind me but I don't have the energy to respond.

In a split second, I found myself in the forest inside the territory. This side of the forest was going to the eastern wall.

My bones crackle, and I transform into my wolf form. I have white fur which is whiter than snow. As a result, my fur glows in the dark. Sometimes, having white fur was a hassle because the enemy could see me well in the dark.

My vision and hearing became clearer and sharper than before. And I feel an endless energy running through my veins.

Now that I had transformed into my wolf form, I could feel something different inside me.

And what is this thing on my forehead?

I could feel a buried stone or something in my forehead and there was an enormous amount of energy inside it.

What in the world?

It wasn't there when I shifted before.

I was puzzled.

Why was I so different from my parents? Shouldn't I inherit my parents' power because I have their blood?

But the thing is... my parents were wolf-less and were labeled as omegas, the lowest rank or a commoner in the werewolf community.

So why did I shift when they don't?

Now, I doubt my true identity.

Are Helen and Alfred my biological parents?

Suddenly, my ears picked up a sound nearby. I quickly hide my aura and run toward the bushes.

A few minutes later, I saw a huge black wolf with golden eyes. And the wolf aura was familiar.

R-Robin?!

I almost gasped at how handsome he was in his wolf form. His golden eyes look deep and hypnotizing.

So his jet-black eyes turned golden when he transformed?

It’s amazing...

"Arielle, I know you are here. Please come out!" a deep voice echoed in my head. It sounds domineering.

Hold on—

Isn't it Robin's voice?

Oh, he could tell I was here and mind-link me!

I hesitated whether to meet him or not. But then I met his gaze through the gap in the bushes.

"Don't pretend you're invisible. I could see you even if you hide underground," he said.

I grunted and slowly came out.

He was eyeing me intently like burning holes through my body.

I couldn't help but feel nervous the way he looked at me as though he was stripping me naked.

I feel embarrassed.

When his gaze met mine, I felt like the surroundings were in slow motion. And it feels like we are the only two people in the world. For some reason, I could feel an invisible magnet that pulled us together.

Before I knew it, Robin tackled me to the ground and licked my forehead where the stone was.

I was startled because my body jolted when he did that. Pleasure coursed through my body and at the same time, my body was burning from the sensation.

However, it wasn't only me who was burning up because Robin's heat also radiated towards me.

"Arielle..." he whispered my name for the first time and my heart pounded inside my chest like crazy.

Why did it sound different when he uttered my name?

Subconsciously, I called out his name as well, "Robin..."

We stayed lying on the ground with him on top of me and lost in each other's eyes.

However, I came back to my senses when the wind blew and the leaves fell on the ground.

I pushed him away and stood up.

"Robin, don't touch me!" I yelled while my inside was still shaking.

Dammit!

What sorcery is this?!

Why did my body react differently toward Robin? It was like my body had a mind of its own!

Was it the doing of our bond?

Before I did something I'd regret, I turned around and ran as fast as I could away from him.

"You're only mine, Arielle! You can't run away from me forever!" Robin's possessive voice echoed in my head.

Ah, what should I do with you, Robin?!

As soon as I arrived in the servant's quarter, I transformed back to my human form and entered.

I quickly went into the bathroom and looked in the mirror.

My eyes widened in shock when I saw a small diamond crystal half-buried on my forehead, one and a half inches long and with the same color as my eyes which were bright green.

What should I do?!

The crystal was visible!

I gritted my teeth and took out a scissor. Despite being unwilling, I could only grit my teeth as I cut a portion of my hair to cover my forehead.

I sighed in relief because it wasn't as bad as I thought. The bangs came out good on me and fully covered the crystal.
