My heart was racing.

"What's all this?" Bonnie asked as she came through the doorway.

"This gentleman's a U.S. Marshal," Red explained. "Says he's looking for a couple guys who mighta come through here the other day."

"Ma'am," the Marshal nodded to her. "You the owner?"

"That's right. Bonnie Black," she said. "Is it typical for you folks to work on your own? I didn't see anyone else outside. No task force or anything."

"Well, this case is a little near and dear," he said.

"How dear, Mr…"

"Amos Jessup," he said, flashing her his badge. Then he showed her the photos. "This guy on the right is Robbie Cooke. His father's a good friend of mine. Governor Harlan Cooke."

Sh*t. One of those guys was a governor's kid?
